Sesame seed is the most important cash crop in major regions of
Ethiopia. Farmers in the sub sector generated the biggest share of
income from sales of sesame seeds. In this book, it is indicated
that 94% of sesame production is supplied to the market. Major
determinant factors for market supply were estimated by OLS
regression. Sesame market performance was measured using indicators
of marketing margins and levels of market integration. Major
marketing cost components were identified and transport cost has
been identified as the major cost constituent. Market concentration
ratios of traders were measured using CR4 market concentration
measures. From the analysis, it is proved that there existed tight
oligopoly at different market levels. This book will be useful to
marketing researchers, economists, policy makers, and any
development practitioners
