The biography is a brief survey designed to acquaint the reader, if necessary, with the basic and widely available facts of Ligeti's life. The bibliography is divided into two parts: writings by Ligeti and writings about him. The largest section in the latter part consists of concert and record reviews. The first real reviewing of African-American literature in France began in 1844, when audiences welcomed the romantic dramas of Victor Sejour. With the passing of time, African-American works have become increasingly known in France, where they are now translated almost as soon as they come out in the United States. This bibliography charts the French critical response to African-American literature from the 19th century to 1970. The bulk of the items selected were published between 1900 and 1970, and all were printed in French. The selection has been limited to responses to the works of creative writers, along with some important and influential autobiographical writings. Entries are arranged in chronological sections, and then alphabetically within each section. Annotations summarize the critical views expressed in the work cited. As a whole, the bibliography is a valuable guide to changing French critical attitudes toward African-American literature and is an index to the growing popularity of African-American literature in France.

As in the first volume, entries are divided into individual language sections for ease of reference. Each section begins with general information about the cooperating language specialists, the area where the language was spoken in 1910, and explanation of library and depository symbols, and a section bibliography. Introductory essays survey the development of the labor and radical press as it relates to the particular ethnic group in question. The annotated bibliography contains all periodicals that appeared more than once a year, along with brief descriptions where available. Finally, each section contains complete title, geographical, and chronological indexes to the periodicals included.
This work updates and expands upon the initial volume and the first supplement of Sinclair's now-standard reference, "French Devotional Texts of the Middle AgeS" (Greenwood Press, 1979, 1982). This exhaustive and complete discography of Indian music issued on microgroove discs and cassettes provides information on over 2,700 recordings of classical and semiclassical music of the Indian subcontinent. It covers the period from the early 1950s to the end of 1983 and also contains information on recordings from the early 1930s onward that were originally issued at 78 RPM and have been reissued on microgroove discs. The main text of the discography is divided into five sections: Hindustani Instrumental, Hindustani Vocal, Karnatic Instrumental, Karnatic Vocal, and Anthologies. Artists are listed alphabetically and brief biographical information is provided when possible. The recordings are indexed by Raga and Tala (the melody and the rhythm), thus allowing comparison between different recordings of the same piece. An instrumental index is included as are indexes to several styles of vocal performance.

Miletich provides a survey of information published between 1983 and 1993. Part One is a chronological listing of information which illustrates how information about AIDS has evolved annually and in which form this information appears. Since 1828, every four years has seen the re-emergence of newspapers published on behalf of particular presidential candidates and aspirants. From as early as the 1600s, Dutch scholars and scholarship have displayed a keen interest in the studies of the Islamic world. Over the centuries, they have collected a wealth of source texts in various languages, Turkish texts being prominent among them. The present catalogue is the fourth and final volume in a series that covers the Turkish manuscripts preserved in public libraries and museums in the Netherlands. The volume gives a detailed description of Turkish manuscripts in minor Dutch collections, found in libraries and museums in Amsterdam, Groningen, The Hague, Leiden, Rotterdam and Utrecht, which hitherto have received little or no attention.

Christian-Muslim Relations, a Bibliographical History 9 (CMR 9) covering Western and Southern Europe in the period 1600-1700 is a further volume in a general history of relations between the two faiths from the seventh century to the early 20th century. Joel Chandler Harris was internationally famous in his own time and has a surprisingly broad scholarly and popular following in ours. His portraits of slaves and former slaves, particularly Uncle Remus and Free Joe, poor whites, and Brer Rabbit, the archetypal trickster hero, have influenced many other writers, including Mark Twain, Charles Chesnutt, William Faulkner, Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, and a wide array of children's authors from Beatrix Potter to A. A. Milne. Harris also left a lasting mark on popular culture, most clearly manifested through Disney's ^ISong of the South^R and at Disney World attractions featuring versions of Harris's characters. He singlehandedly preserved and made internationally famous the Brer Rabbit folktales, the largest body of African American oral folklore that the world has ever known. Additionally, Harris was a major New South journalist who accelerated the process of reconciliation between North and South and promoted racial tolerance after the Civil War. This reference book is a complete bibliographic guide to the scholarly response to Harris during the last two decades. The introduction explores such issues as Harris's renderings of black dialect, Southern character, and folklore, and his influence on popular culture.
