Crisp apples, tart lemons, lush figs, tender peaches--imagine
the bounty of a late-summer farmer's market, right in your backyard
Learning how to plant and care for fruit trees is a desirable,
accessible activity for a wide range of people. It's a natural
extension of many gardeners' repertoires, and the investment yields
generations of results. Growing your own fruit ensures a fresh,
delicious, abundant harvest for your family and friends for years
to come. Fruit trees diversify a region's agricultural landscape
and ecosystems, attracting pollinating bees, songbirds, and other
desirable visitors. And cultivating orchards on your own decreases
your reliance on grocery store distribution channels and boosts
sustainability.
Inside The Home Orchard Handbook, you'll find:
--Strategies for choosing your orchard's site, taking into
consideration soil quality, sun exposure, microclimates, drainage,
and more
--Information on plant selection, including what types of fruit
trees do well in certain areas and how to decipher critical
concepts such as "chill hours," "cultivars," "bareroot," and
"cross-pollination"
--Guidance on aftercare, including in-depth watering,
composting, and preventative care schedules to keep your backyard
orchard fruitful for years
--Advice on troubleshooting diseases, conditions, and
non-beneficial insects using only humane, organic remedies
--General tips on jamming, dehydrating, storing, and otherwise
making the most of your orchard's harvest with delicious recipes
from chefs Tal Ronnen and Diana Stobo
Start growing your own fruit trees wherever you are with The

Richie Castillo is the chef behind Bahay, a Filipino pop-up
restaurant that he started and runs with his partner, Alex O'Neill.
Richie and Alex named Bahay after the Tagalog word for home while
the title of this, their first book - Masarap - means tasty in
Tagalog, the Filipino language. It's a nod to Bahay's
Irish-Filipino background, seeing as how blasta means tasty in
Irish. For Richie, this book was a catalyst for exploring and
connecting with his Filipino heritage. You'll find classic dishes
such as adobo, a range of exciting Filipino dishes and playful
recipes with Filipino flavours that highlight his experience
growing up eating Filipino food with Irish ingredients. Masarap is
the exploration of Filipino food through an Irish cultural lens and
a way to introduce more people to the food of the Philippines,
which is hugely underrepresented. Alex, a self-proclaimed food
lover who will try anything twice, is the storyteller in Bahay. She
loves taking Richie's ideas and fleshing them out into points of
view to create Bahay's story.

Expectation meets Julie and Julia, The Yellow Kitchen is a
brilliant exploration of food, belonging and friendship. London,
2019. A yellow kitchen stands as a metaphor for the lifelong
friendship between three women: Claude, the baker, goal-orientated
Sophie and political Giulia. They chase love and careers; dreaming
and consuming in the city, but always returning to the yellow
kitchen to share a meal. That is, until a trip to Lisbon unravels
unexplored desires between Claude and Sophie. Having sex is one
thing, waking up the day after is the beginning of something new.
Exploring the complexities of female friendship, The Yellow Kitchen
is a hymn to the last year of London as we knew it and a
celebration of the culture, the food and the rhythms we live by.
Praise for The Yellow Kitchen: 'Rich and thoroughly intoxicating,
The Yellow Kitchen is a sensual journey into friendship, food and
female sexuality, full of complex, fascinating characters and bold
ideas. I loved it' Rosie Walsh 'A heady mix of politics,
friendship, sex and food, poignant, provocative and utterly
distinctive' Paula Hawkins 'An exquisite novel - beautifully
rendered, powerfully told, and so deeply felt. I urge you to read
this novel - you will never forget it' Lucia Osborne-Crowley
'Mixing female friendship, romance, loss, redemption, and memorable
meals, The Yellow Kitchen is the perfect recipe for a flavorful
literary feast. With subtle dashes of wit and generous sprinklings
of honesty, Margaux Vialleron has crafted a brave and tender tale'
Kim Fay, author of Love & Saffron 'The Yellow Kitchen is so
warm and convivial in atmosphere, and its discussion of the
politics of the UK and their impact very poignant. It portrayed
beautifully the sense of adventure of being a certain age, with its
rush and richness and emotional confusion, and I found it such a
satisfying read' Emily Itami, author of Fault Lines
There are few books available on Parsi cuisine in English. Joyce
Westrip introduces this aromatic Indian cuisine that is based upon
the culinary habits of the Parsis who left Iran some 1300 years ago
to settle along India's western coastline.

THE CLASSIC BESTSELLER: 'The greatest book about food ever written'
'A compelling book with its intriguing mix of clever writing and
kitchen patois ... more horrifically gripping than a Stephen King
novel' Sunday Times 'Extraordinary ... written with a clarity and a
clear-eyed wit to put the professional food-writing fraternity to
shame' Observer _____________________________ After twenty-five
years of 'sex, drugs, bad behaviour and haute cuisine', chef and
novelist Anthony Bourdain decided to tell all - and he meant all.
From his first oyster in the Gironde to his lowly position as a
dishwasher in a honky-tonk fish restaurant in Provincetown; from
the kitchen of the Rainbow Room atop the Rockefeller Center to drug
dealers in the East Village, from Tokyo to Paris and back to New
York again, Bourdain's tales of the kitchen are as passionate as
they are unpredictable, as shocking as they are funny.
