A highly sensitive person (HSP) is a term for those who have an
increased central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional
or social stimuli. High sensitivity is not a 'condition', it is a
normal human trait. This book explores what it means and feels to
experience life as a highly sensitive person. HSPs comprise about a
fifth of the human population, both male and female, although it
may be less observable in the behaviour of many males because of
upbringing and cultural stereotypes. One of the greatest pains for
anyone is to feel thwarted in their ability to contribute and
communicate.
