Standard Methods of Geophysical Formation Evaluation (Hardcover): James K. Hallenburg Standard Methods of Geophysical Formation Evaluation (Hardcover)
James K. Hallenburg
R5,080 Discovery Miles 50 800 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

These three works cover the entire field of formation evaluation, from basic concepts and theories, through standard methods used by the petroleum industry, on to new and exciting applications in environmental science and engineering, hydrogeology, and other fields. Designed to be used individually or as a set, these volumes represent the first comprehensive assessment of all exploration methodologies. No other books offer the breadth of information and range of applications available in this set.

Applied Geostatistics (Paperback, New): Edward H. Isaaks, R.Mohan Srivastava Applied Geostatistics (Paperback, New)
Edward H. Isaaks, R.Mohan Srivastava
R5,343 Discovery Miles 53 430 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

In Applied Geostatistics the authors demonstrate how simple statistical methods can be used to analyse earth science data. They explain how various forms of the estimation method called kriging can be employed for specific problems. A case study of a simulated deposit is the focus for the book. This model helps the student develop an understanding of how statistical tools work, serving as a tutorial to guide readers through their first independent geostatistical study.

Seeing Underground - Maps, Models, and Mining Engineering in America (Paperback): Eric C. Nystrom Seeing Underground - Maps, Models, and Mining Engineering in America (Paperback)
Eric C. Nystrom
R923 R715 Discovery Miles 7 150 Save R208 (23%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The digging of mineral wealth from the ground dates to prehistoric times, and Europeans pursued mining in the Americas from the earliest colonial days. Prior to the Civil War, very little mining went deep enough to require maps. However, the major finds of the mid-nineteenth century, such as the Comstock Lode, were vastly larger and deeper than any previous finds in America. Nystrom argues that, as industrial mining came of age in the United States, the development of maps and models gave power to a new visual culture. These maps and models became necessary tools in creating and controlling the mines' pitch-dark, three-dimensional space. Nystrom demonstrates that these neglected artifacts of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries have much to teach us today.
