Maverick Japanese director Sion Sono writes and directs this irreverently zany, three-and-a half hour, black-comedy drama which captures a year in the life of 17-year-old Yu (Takahiro Nishijima). Yu falls into sinful ways after the death of his saintly mother and his father's subsequent ordainment to the Catholic priesthood. Yu's speciality as a petty criminal is taking sneaky camera shots up girls' skirts while he ostensibly performs elaborate martial arts moves. He falls in love with rough diamond Yoko (Hikari Mitsushima), but their future together comes under threat when the creepy Koike (Sakura Ando) goes all out to lure Yu into his religious cult.

Thriller in which a group of college friends' vacation on a lake island cabin turns into a nightmare when they discover they are surrounded by flesh-hungry sharks. Little do they know what waits in store for them when they set sail across the lake to try and get Malik to a hospital: the group are hunted by what seem like hundreds of sharks and face a desperate battle for survival.

Famous for its incredibly choreographed seven-minute opening shot, Henry Mancini's powerful score, and the faded magnificence of the Quinlan character, it is often considered to be Welles' second masterpiece.

Aleksei Popogrebsky writes and directs this Russian drama set at a meteorological polar station on an isolated Arctic island between Russia and Alaska. The film charts the increasingly strained relationship between two men working at the tiny, remote station: experienced long-timer Sergei (Sergei Puskepalis) and adventure-seeking college graduate Pavel (Grigoriy Dobrygin), who arrives for the summer on a work experience placement.

The debut feature of British actor Richard Ayoade, this coming-of-age comedy follows 15-year-old Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) in his dual quest to keep his family together and to lose his virginity before his 16th birthday. Set in Swansea, the film charts Oliver's growing concerns about the relationship between his father, Lloyd (Noah Taylor), a depressive and recently-unemployed marine biologist, and his mother (Sally Hawkins), who appears to be harbouring a crush on fawning new age guru Graham (Paddy Considine). Meanwhile, Oliver ponders how to broach the sticky subject of sex with his eczema-prone, pyromaniac girlfriend Jordana (Yasmin Paige).

1960s drama from director Yasujirô Ozu following the tender story of a widower with a young daughter. Japanese social mores dictate that it is the responsibility of Michiko (Shima Iwashita), in the absence of her mother, to take care of her father, Shuhei (Chishû Ryû), for the rest of his life. Shuhei, however, shuns this course of action and instead arranges a marriage for his highly disinclined daughter.

French director Jean-Luc Godard's deconstruction of the process of construction, both of film narrative and The Rolling Stones' song 'Sympathy for the Devil'. The film presents a collage for the viewer to engage with as they like. Interweaved is footage of the Stones in the studio, writing, rehearsing and recording the famous song, and footage of a group of Black Power protestors in a used car lot, brandishing guns and reading revolutionary tracts.

Shot largely in black and white, the film is the product of a 12-year collaboration with director Steven Sebring and paints an abstract yet intimate portrait of Smith's life accompanied by readings and excerpts from her poetry and music.

However, the two unlikely comrades join forces, along with other living humans Little Rock and Wichita (Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone), in order to battle the zombies and eke out a way of survival.

Clint Eastwood directs this gritty Academy Award-winning drama based on the novel by Dennis Lehane. Set in the Irish community of Boston, it tells the story of three childhood friends who have drifted apart over the years owing to a violent and disturbing experience they shared as children, and are forcibly reunited many years later following another tragic event. When ex-con Jimmy Markum's (Sean Penn) 19-year-old daughter Katie is murdered, the homicide detectives assigned to the case are Whitney Powers (Laurence Fishburne) and Jimmy's old friend Sean Devine (Kevin Bacon). Behind the scenes, Jimmy asks two of his relatives, the Savage brothers, to mount their own investigation, and the finger of suspicion begins to point to the final person in the childhood trio, Dave Boyle (Tim Robbins), who is now a broken man.

Rob Zombie's loose (and much more brutal) remake of the 1981 sequel to John Carpenter's classic horror. Feature-length documentary following members of The Vienna Boys' Choir as they embark on their ambitious 'Silk Road' project, a children's opera based on original songs from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and China. After nearly a year of rehearsals the choir take to the actual Silk Road to perform the piece in diverse and exotic locations including an antique theatre in Turkey, on Samarkand's Registan and in the Taklamakan desert.
