You've decided to tackle machine learning - because you're job hunting, embarking on a new project, or just think self-driving cars are cool. But where to start? It's easy to be intimidated, even as a software developer. The good news is that it doesn't have to be that hard. Master machine learning by writing code one line at a time, from simple learning programs all the way to a true deep learning system. Tackle the hard topics by breaking them down so they're easier to understand, and build your confidence by getting your hands dirty. Peel away the obscurities of machine learning, starting from scratch and going all the way to deep learning. Machine learning can be intimidating, with its reliance on math and algorithms that most programmers don't encounter in their regular work. Take a hands-on approach, writing the Python code yourself, without any libraries to obscure what's really going on. Iterate on your design, and add layers of complexity as you go. Build an image recognition application from scratch with supervised learning. Predict the future with linear regression. Dive into gradient descent, a fundamental algorithm that drives most of machine learning. Create perceptrons to classify data. Build neural networks to tackle more complex and sophisticated data sets. Train and refine those networks with backpropagation and batching. Layer the neural networks, eliminate overfitting, and add convolution to transform your neural network into a true deep learning system. Start from the beginning and code your way to machine learning mastery. What You Need: The examples in this book are written in Python, but don't worry if you don't know this language: you'll pick up all the Python you need very quickly. Apart from that, you'll only need your computer, and your code-adept brain.
Ever-changing business needs have prompted large companies to
rethink their enterprise IT. Today, businesses must allow
interaction with their customers, partners, and employees at more
touch points and at a depth never thought previously. At the same
time, rapid advances in information technologies, like business
digitization, cloud computing, and Web 2.0, demand fundamental
changes in the enterprises management practices. These changes have
a drastic effect not only on IT and business, but also on policies,
processes, and people. Many companies therefore embark on
enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. The role of Enterprise
Architecture (EA) is to architect and supervise this
transformational journey. Unfortunately, today s EA is often a
ponderous and detached exercise, with most of the EA initiatives
failing to create visible impact. The enterprises need an EA that
is agile and responsive to business dynamics. "Collaborative
Enterprise Architecture" provides the innovative solutions today s
enterprises require, informed by real-world experiences and experts
insights. This book, in its first part, provides a systematic
compendium of the current best practices in EA, analyzes current
ways of doing EA, and identifies its constraints and shortcomings.
In the second part, it leaves the beaten tracks of EA by
introducing Lean, Agile, and Enterprise 2.0 concepts to the
traditional EA methods. This blended approach to EA focuses on
practical aspects, with recommendations derived from real-world
experiences. A truly thought provoking and pragmatic guide to
manage EA, "Collaborative Enterprise Architecture" effectively
merges the long-term oriented top-down approach with pragmatic
bottom-up thinking, and that way offers real solutions to
businesses undergoing enterprise-wide change.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence (BI) and Big Data analytics (BDA) are business related tasks and processes, which are supported by standardized software solutions. The book explains that this requires business-oriented thinking and acting from IT specialists and data scientists. It is a good idea to let students experience this directly from the business perspective, for example as executives of a virtual company in a role-playing game. The second edition of the book has been completely revised, restructured and supplemented with actual topics such as blockchains in supply chains and the correlation between Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. The structure of the book is based on the gradual implementation and integration of the respective information systems from the business and management perspectives. Part I contains chapters with detailed descriptions of the topics supplemented by online tests and exercises. Part II introduces role play and the online gaming and simulation environment. Supplementary teaching material, presentations, templates, and video clips are available online in the gaming area. The gaming and business simulation Kdibisglobal.com, newly created for this book, now includes a beer division, a bottled water division, a soft drink division and a manufacturing division for barcode cash register scanner with their specific business processes and supply chains.
Universal access to information and communication technologies represents an indispensable prerequisite for people with impairments' equal participation in societal life. Despite legal regulations and economic advantages, accessible web sites are rarely implemented in private sector organizations. The findings of this case study research include organizations' experiences with web accessibility implementation and generate a sound basis for management decision recommendations. Moreover, a flexible business model for an Austrian web accessibility quality mark is introduced that facilitates and accelerates a national implementation.
Numerous studies indicate that learning is most effective in terms of persistency when it addresses the whole person rather than merely the intellect. A set of promotive activities that foster significant learning have been extensively researched in classroom settings. The major scientific goal of this work is to investigate whether and how promotive activities may be applied in technology-enhanced learning settings. Besides transferring existing activity patterns to the online context, this work presents new opportunities that could only emerge with technology enhancement. This work draws up general recommendations and provides practical examples. The main fields of interest are: motivational aspects, peer review, and "active listening" with written means of online communication.

The overall contribution involves designing a novel solution approach, including conceptual, methodological, and tool-based components. Its applicability and utility are evaluated both analytically and empirically, eventually in the form of an experimental setting with 17 replicated development teams.
With the development of the Internet from a research network to a commercial and integrated network which must satisfy heterogeneous user demand, prices for Internet usage play an important role. This study analyzes the pricing of Internet transport services and interconnection. It explains why appropriate pricing requires popular flat rates to be abandoned. They should be replaced by usage-based prices which are load-sensitive and take different service qualities into consideration. The aim of this work is to give an overview of Internet pricing proposals, to classify, investigate, and evaluate these pricing schemes as well as to elaborate on relations between them. Evaluations are based on normative criteria for Internet pricing from the point of view of social welfare and the perspectives of both Internet service providers and users. Moreover, this book shows what efficient settlement rules look like at the interconnection level. Since these interconnection pricing agreements are closely related to retail pricing models the compatibility between them is also analyzed.

When the pressure is on to resolve an elusive software or hardware glitch, what's needed is a cool head courtesy of a set of rules guaranteed to work on any system, in any circumstance. Written in a frank but engaging style, this book provides simple, foolproof principles guaranteed to help find any bug quickly. Recognized tech expert and author David Agans changes the way you think about debugging, making those pesky problems suddenly much easier to find and fix. Agans identifies nine simple, practical rules that are applicable to any software application or hardware system, which can help detect any bug, no matter how tricky or obscure. Illustrating the rules with real-life bug-detection war stories, Debugging shows you how to: Understand the system: how perceiving the ""roadmap"" can hasten your journey Quit thinking and look: when hands-on investigation can't be avoided Isolate critical factors: why changing one element at a time can be an essential tool Keep an audit trail: how keeping a record of the debugging process can win the day Whether the system or program you're working on has been designed wrong, built wrong, or used wrong, Debugging helps you think correctly about bugs, so the problems virtually reveal themselves.
This book discusses enterprise hierarchies, which view a target system with varying degrees of abstraction. These requirement refinement hierarchies can be represented by goal models. It is important to verify that such hierarchies capture the same set of rationales and intentions and are in mutual agreement with the requirements of the system being designed. The book also explores how hierarchies manifest themselves in the real world by undertaking a data mining exercise and observing the interactions within an enterprise. The inherent sequence-agnostic property of goal models prevents requirement analysts from performing compliance checks in this phase as compliance rules are generally embedded with temporal information. The studies discussed here seek to extract finite state models corresponding to goal models with the help of model transformation. The i*ToNuSMV tool implements one such algorithm to perform model checking on i* models. In turn, the AFSR framework provides a new goal model nomenclature that associates semantics with individual goals. It also provides a reconciliation machinery that detects entailment or consistency conflicts within goal models and suggests corrective measures to resolve such conflicts. The authors also discuss how the goal maintenance problem can be mapped to the state-space search problem, and how A* search can be used to identify an optimal goal model configuration that is free from all conflicts. In conclusion, the authors discuss how the proposed research frameworks can be extended and applied in new research directions. The GRL2APK framework presents an initiative to develop mobile applications from goal models using reusable code component repositories.
