The movement towards juicing and juice fasting as a dietary option is growing as both a lifestyle practice and as a viable industry. Whether household or commercially based, it is essential that users serious enough to purchase products take the time to educate themselves with regard to the numerous options that are available. Equally important, knowledge of sound and safe juicing practice is essential in matching both juicing equipment and foods to individual need and preference. Juicing programs require direction in order to allow for proper and successful planning. This book examines many of the considerations related to successful juicing. It looks at basic equipment requirements, outlines options for start-up and selection of programs and products, and provides numerous ideas on how to go about creating pleasantly tasting juice mixtures. A great deal of the article is devoted to nutritional considerations, outlining benefits, potential hazards, and specific guidelines for best nutritional choice juicing practice. A significant consideration dealt with is how to best approach juicing as a means of weight loss. Closely related, the book also presents guidelines for successful juice fasting. "People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas."
I have a passion to travel, but what do you do when you can't get away? This is my journey to "get away" and write while staying at home. I took the time to educate myself and readers on the love of booze and all its glory. What started as a way to kill time became quite an adventure. After writing my first book (The Right to Release: A Trail of Empty Bottles Across Europe), I needed to find a creative outlet during a return stint to the restaurant Biz after traveling through 42 cities in Europe for 80 days. The outcome was a blog called Swig Knowledge. It served as a way for me to "travel" and learn without leaving the country again. At first, I didn't know if anyone was following, but at the end of one year of blogging about liquor, beer, and wine from all over the Globe, Swig Knowledge has over 4,500 followers in over 100 countries throughout the World. I hope you enjoy the 2011 version of Swig Knowledge and always know what you drink.

FOR a long time the public have been in want of a work on the art of Distillation and Rectification, couched in such language that every one could appreciate it; and of such size and value that the price, and the time required to read it, would prove the least objectionable. From the best information I can gain, no work has appeared on this subject for many years. Owing to this fact, most of the improvements which have been made in the art have proved of little use to the larger class; and thus things have almost remained stationary with regard to this very important matter, particularly in this country; which is, indeed, greatly to be lamented, as we are in possession of every thing, in the way of fruits, vegetables, etc., which have hitherto been used in distillation. I trust that in the following pages the reader will find every thing that the present state of science calls for, and that the suggestions may prove of great practical advantage; which I think they will do, as every thing is given in the shortest and plainest manner. It is almost needless to say that I have consulted every authority that I could find, for the purpose of making this a complete work; they are, however, too numerous to mention here, and would be, moreover, of no benefit to the reader. With these few prefatory remarks, the book is submitted to the public.

Complete Reprint of "The Shadow of The Bottle," published 1915 for a definite purpose. To aid in making the map of the United States wholly white, by removing the shadow of the bottle from the homes and hearts of men. The statistics in this book, while very enlightening, soon fall behind the truth because of the onward march of the prohibition movement. They do, however, furnish some effective ammunition for the firing line. These stories, statistics, and cartoons should contribute toward making the voter, the saloon keeper, Uncle Sam, and the devil as well, ashamed of themselves for the part they play in this traffic in the souls of men.
