When you read this book, either to yourself, other people or to clients you will find insights into problems. This allows movement away from difficulties towards finding solutions and implementing them. The decision to look at life from new perspectives gives the chance to earn your true value in the world and to profit from constructive change. Rather than being held back by old beliefs and attitudes the reader moves into a new way of thinking, a new way of acting and a new way of life. Some of the metaphors funny, some are dark. They tell tales of abuse and the nasty nature that some people have. However, the darkest hour is just before dawn. The darker stories offer hope to the readers who will identify with them. The outcome is that of moving away from the past into a brighter future. Just because bad stuff has happened before there is no need to assume that the victim is cursed. The end of every old story is justice for the wronged and the chastisement of the perpetrator. So it is and will be. These stories and metaphors help the reader to climb out of the mud that holds them back and into a place where we can be fulfilled and happy. Taking, and acting on, decisions is paramount to success. By moving forward now, you invest in a brighter future.
Hypnotic Regression Therapy, or HRT, is a type of hypnotherapy in which, following the induction of a good trance state, specialized suggestions are given to guide the client in reviewing and emotionally reframing earlier experiences that have either caused or contributed to the client's current symptoms. This book provides all the skills, advice and techniques needed to understand and carry out HRT. This book addresses the dangers of mishandled hypnotic regression by presenting an organised, clientcentred approach. You will learn when and how to use HRT effectively to help clients discover and release the causes of their problems and symptoms. The authors emphasize the importance of avoiding inappropriate leading and how to explain the risk of false memories to clients. They also clearly address the controversies about false memories and the handling of the emotional release that usually occurs during hypnotic regressions.

Intuition, gut feelings, hunches. . . Call it what you like, we all possess unconscious wisdom. And, as the stories in this book make clear, that wisdom has the power to heal. A couple use their unconscious knowledge of each other to trade identities in trance-and, as a result, resolve their marital problems. A woman progressively loses her sight rather than "see" painful aspects of her past, then recovers her vision as she confronts and resolves the history she has long denied. A woman in deep trance endures a five hour surgery without anesthesia, even stopping her own bleeding on cue. These extraordinary true stories are typical of the solutions possible when a patient's unconscious mind is brought to the task of healing. Drawn from the practice of internationally noted family therapist and hypnotherapist David L. Calof, these ten tales give us remarkable insight into the powers of the human mind.
This book offers new strategies and scripts for hypnotherapists, sports counselors and sports psychologists working with athletes to help them achieve their peak performance. A major focus of the book is that the therapist does not necessarily need to be familiar with the sport or activity to serve as a "mental coach" to the athlete. The goal is to get the athlete to relax, concentrate and focus so that they fulfill their maximum potential. They learn not to let the mental side of their game trip up the physical side, but rather to enhance it. The book contains a number of case studies from a variety of sports where the author has worked successfully with athletes. In the case studies the author notes how surprised he was to learn that many clients have a vivid memory of the techniques he taught them, indicating just how important these techniques were to them. Also included is a section recovering from injury and on marketing and getting referrals.

In 1951, a young hospital doctor treated a patient suffering from a rare and debilitating skin disease - thought to be incurable - with a single session of hypnosis, unaware that he was about to make medical history. The case caused a sensation. Doctors described it as 'unprecedented and inexplicable' and 'a challenge to current concepts of the relation between mind and body'. Like many, author Guy Lyon Playfair wondered how on earth the hypnotist did it, and unlike many he was determined to find out. In this lively, provocative and meticulously researched book he attempts to meet that challenge and explain the 'miraculous' cure that was fully documented in the British Medical Journal, with its unexpected aftermath, and to open up the whole subject of the role played by the mind in the healing process. More than two centuries since Mesmer and his pupil the Marquis de Puysegur introduced an ancient healing technique into Western medicine, the question of what happens to a person under hypnosis remains to be fully explained. Yet, seemingly unaware of it, the medical profession already has the key to a technique of incalculable potential benefit, the true nature of which it still seems reluctant to face. Playfair maintains that the unspoken transfer of information between one living being and another, and the ability of the mind to move matter without the use of physical force are important but neglected aspects of the art of healing. Far from being occult superstitions or mere speculations, such natural abilities have been shown repeatedly - in life and laboratory - to be matters of fact. Their suppression in Western society can no longer be justified medically. Nor should the practice of hypnosis be confined, as it tends to be in medical practice, merely to the treatment of minor psychosomatic complaints. Playfair draws on a wide range of source material, much of it hitherto buried in orthodox medical and specialist literature, to show that it is neglect, rather than lack of knowledge, that is preventing the widespread use of an inexpensive and natural healing process, the full potential of which has yet to be explored.
