When you read this book, either to yourself, other people or to clients you will find insights into problems. This allows movement away from difficulties towards finding solutions and implementing them. The decision to look at life from new perspectives gives the chance to earn your true value in the world and to profit from constructive change. Rather than being held back by old beliefs and attitudes the reader moves into a new way of thinking, a new way of acting and a new way of life. Some of the metaphors funny, some are dark. They tell tales of abuse and the nasty nature that some people have. However, the darkest hour is just before dawn. The darker stories offer hope to the readers who will identify with them. The outcome is that of moving away from the past into a brighter future. Just because bad stuff has happened before there is no need to assume that the victim is cursed. The end of every old story is justice for the wronged and the chastisement of the perpetrator. So it is and will be. These stories and metaphors help the reader to climb out of the mud that holds them back and into a place where we can be fulfilled and happy. Taking, and acting on, decisions is paramount to success. By moving forward now, you invest in a brighter future.
This book presents new research on hypnosis, including a clinical review comparing the effectiveness of hypnotherapy to psychoanalysis and behaviour therapy. Some of the recent clinical evidence contradicting the common criticisms and misconceptions surrounding hypnotherapy are presented, providing a good indication of how to make the best use of this tool, and to provide a rational explanation for its hard-to-believe therapeutic effects. This book also describes and illustrates the use of waking hypnosis based on the Valencia Model and applied to clinical cases considered difficult and/or emergencies. Furthermore, the relationship between hypnosis and psychoanalysis is extensively reviewed. The main assumptions of the intersubjective approach and how it is used in hypnosis, through case stories, is presented as well. Finally, this book presents evidence that the neural mechanisms of hypnosis is a fundamental prerequisite for the environmental context to provide the onset of MPI (Mass Psychogenic Illness). Other topics examined in this book include the effects of hypnosis on cancer patients and its use on people with skins disorders and procedures, as well as its effect on people with chronic pain.

2010 Reprint of 1923 First Edition. Illustrated. Although commonly known to the layman as a technique that can affect the physical world, bring wealth, and even add to one's IQ, autosuggestion is actually a technique intended to complement the use of medicine. It was developed by apothecary Emile Coue from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. In 1932, German psychiatrist Johannes Schultz developed and published autogenic training, a relaxation technique influenced by the Coue method. The Coue method centers on a routine repetition of a particular expression according to a specified ritual in a given physical state at the beginning and at the end of each day. Against the belief that a strong conscious will constitutes the best path to success, Coue maintained that curing some of our troubles requires a change in our subconscious/unconscious thought, which can only be achieved by using our imagination. Although stressing that he was not primarily a healer but one who taught others to heal themselves, Coue claimed to have effected organic changes through autosuggestion.

Most hypnotists will tell you "You can't be made to do something in hypnosis that is against your Will." Most of them actually believe it. But a few of the most experienced hypnotists simply say it to put people at ease. They know that, in the right hands, very few people can resist a skilled hypnotist. Skilled hypnotists know what it takes to resist suggestions and it's not what most people would think. Reason #1 - Because they don't want others to have the power they have. In spite of what they may want you to believe hypnotists are human beings. They have egos and ambitions just like everyone else. A lot of hypnotists discover something that works really well and they'll want to keep it to themselves. Reason #2 - Because it frightens away clients who believe they have some sort of Will Power. For most people real Will Power is a myth, a story, even a fantasy. Facing this truth, for most people, is a humbling experience. |
