Die Gestaltung von Webseiten (German, Paperback): Sven Giesemann Die Gestaltung von Webseiten (German, Paperback)
Sven Giesemann
R2,033 Discovery Miles 20 330 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Fiona McKenzie
R1,160 Discovery Miles 11 600 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Designing the Modern Interior - From The Victorians To Today (Paperback): Penny Sparke, Anne Massey, Trevor Keeble, Brenda... Designing the Modern Interior - From The Victorians To Today (Paperback)
Penny Sparke, Anne Massey, Trevor Keeble, Brenda Martin
R2,076 Discovery Miles 20 760 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

A Choice Outstanding Academic Title 2010. Designing the Modern Interior reveals how the design of the inside spaces of our homes and public buildings is shaped by and shapes our modern culture. The modern interior has often been narrowly defined by the minimalist work of elite, reforming architects. But a shared modernising impulse, expressed in interior design, extends at least as far back as the Victorians and reaches to our own time. And this spirit of modernisation manifested itself in interiors, designed both by professionals and by amateurs, which did not necessarily look modern and often even aimed to imitate the past. Designing the Modern Interior presents a new history of the interior from the late 19th to the 21st century. Particular characteristics are consistent across this period: a progressive attitude towards technology; a hyper-consciousness of what it is to live in the present and the future; an overt relationship with the mass media, mass consumption and the marketplace; an emphasis on individualism, interiority and the 'self'; the construction of identities determined by gender, class, race, sexuality and nationhood; and the experiences of urban and suburban life.

Form and Structure in Interior Architecture (Paperback, 2nd edition): Graeme Brooker, Sally Stone Form and Structure in Interior Architecture (Paperback, 2nd edition)
Graeme Brooker, Sally Stone
R778 Discovery Miles 7 780 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Form and Structure in Interior Architecture examines the basic ideas that underpin the design of interior space: From the establishment of a relationship between the existing building and the new components that inhabit it, to the design and positioning of significant elements within the space itself. Through a series of groundbreaking case studies from around the world, this book proposes a method of analysis, understanding and exploitation of the existing building. Studies of contemporary work engage and stimulate, while clear diagrams and explanations allow students to understand and relate to the works in the context of architecture and interiors as a wider field. The second edition includes a new chapter on sustainable interior architecture. This brings the book up to date by covering current thinking about the importance of sustainability in architectural design.

The Cistercian Arts, Volume 2 - From the 12th to the 21st Century (Hardcover): Terryl N. Kinder, Roberto Cassanelli The Cistercian Arts, Volume 2 - From the 12th to the 21st Century (Hardcover)
Terryl N. Kinder, Roberto Cassanelli
R1,950 Discovery Miles 19 500 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The phenomenon of the Cistercian Order occupies a key place in the history of Western culture as it grew to dominate reformed European monasticism in the high middle ages. The transition from the Romanesque to Gothic styles occurred in the twelfth century when the order was expanding most dramatically. With sharp, clean lines, and minimal decor, its architecture was designed to reflect the simplicity and austerity required for this experiment in monastic life. An important reference work, The Cistercian Arts offers insights into a contemplative order that expanded from its modest origins in the Burgundian heartland to encompass six continents. Under the supervision of Terryl Kinder and Roberto Cassanelli, the theological and spiritual aspects and material culture of the Cistercian world are analyzed in depth by more than thirty international specialists in a forty-chapter overview. Music, libraries, water management, metallurgy, farming, liturgical arts, sacred reading, and many other facets of monastic life are traced from the founding of the order in 1098 to the present day. While the Cistercian Order grew to include approximately 1,700 abbeys for men and women, it did not end with the middle ages, and architecture was not its only manifestation. This exquisitely illustrated volume shows how the many arts created by and for Cistercian abbeys continued well beyond the medieval period.

Starting with the module of the individual workplace, larger space configurations result from adding these workplaces in a variety of arrangements, resulting in different office layout typologies. In addition to the space required for desk and chair, it is necessary to provide the required distances as well as floor area for cupboards, movement, and circulation routes within the office rooms. Basics Office Design explains the parameters of this common design task in a clear and easy-to-understand way, placing as much emphasis on ergonomics, comfort, and orientation as on the space requirements, functional relationships, and the different types of offices.
