The dimensions of the core elements of office workplaces - desk and chair - together with the necessary circulation areas determine the design of office buildings. Starting with the module of the individual workplace, larger space configurations result from adding these workplaces in a variety of arrangements, resulting in different office layout typologies. In addition to the space required for desk and chair, it is necessary to provide the required distances as well as floor area for cupboards, movement, and circulation routes within the office rooms. Basics Office Design explains the parameters of this common design task in a clear and easy-to-understand way, placing as much emphasis on ergonomics, comfort, and orientation as on the space requirements, functional relationships, and the different types of offices.

Commercial trade fairs, brand experiences, themed attractions, world expositions, museum galleries, visitor centers, historic houses, landscape interpretation and art installation are all areas that can be categorized under the broad umbrella term of ‘ exhibition’. Millions of people visit exhibitions of one sort or another every year and globally it is a multi-billion dollar industry. Basics Interior Design: Exhibition Design offers a better understanding of the complexity of exhibition design as a discipline, by exploring the role of the exhibition designer as a creative practitioner. It considers the blurring of borders with other design disciplines, but interior, graphic design and marketing in particular. Supported by case study examples and practical in nature, this book offers a guide on how to approach the design of the narrative.

This title shows the wide variety of contemporary German interior design, which is centered between the poles of tradition and globalization. Germany's present-day global image is defined by modern technology, rural traditions and solid craftsmanship and is reflected in the design of public and private spaces: retro styles are revived and take on new shapes. The timeless elegance of classical modernism in the tradition of the Bauhaus is brought back to life and new materials and technologies entail previously unknown dimensions of design. This volume presents the stylish world of German interiors, which ranges from one-off custom-built designs to an accomplished array of serial products.
Hand Drawing for Designers: A Visual Guide for Drawing Fundamentals approaches the act of drawing as a communication tool that students will carry forth in the design firm. It also addresses why hand drawing is valued within design firms for conceptual design, design development, and client presentations. The progression of methods and concepts builds from an introduction to drawing methods and drawing rationale through two-dimensional drawing techniques, three-dimensional drawing techniques, and presentation drawings. Designed to strengthen a student's understanding of visual representation and technical drawing by visually teaching, this text provides students with the skills to translate three-dimensional ideas into two-dimensional drawings that effectively communicate their design concept. Despite the increased reliance on digital media, hand drawing remains a powerful tool in conceptual design presentations because it emphasizes the large idea by leaving fine details to the client's imagination. Features: -- Progressive introduction of concepts (chapters build on previous chapters), step-by-step drawing instructions, and visual examples -- Presents the concept of entourage by exploring different hand and digital based techniques to add people, furniture and landscape elements to drawings, with an emphasis on the scale of the drawing and the quantity of entourage -- Includes techniques using printed SketchUp models as a tool to generate hand drawn and hand drafted perspectives -- Demonstrates how to digitally render hand drawings, sketches, and diagrams in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator -- CD-Rom provides digital example files in Photoshop, Illustrator and SketchUp format -- Instructor's Guide includes course outlines, additional assignments and how to use the text in a variety of courses
This book examines how different software can be incorporated into the traditional phases of an interior design project and demonstrates technical tactics within those programs to optimize workflow and interoperability. It is not a technical reference manual for any of the software packages described -- the goal is for students to develop a basic working knowledge of the most commonly used software and the skills to create professional electronic presentations. Just as the techniques of using a paint brush should not prove an impediment to a painter, and in fact can be a source of inspiration, so the use of software to explore and develop our designs can lead to an ever richer and more exciting built environment. Key Features: -- Follows the stages of the design process (programming, schematic design, design communications, design development, and implementation) to complete their studio project with available technology -- Includes screen shots from the various software discussed such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, MS Office and Windows -- Combines original examples illustrating the step by step procedures, color renderings, screen shots, and other drawings -- Includes two end of chapter projects: The Chocolate Cafe (simple one-level project, approx. 2500 sq. ft.) and The Bowling Alley (advanced multi-level project, approx. 12,000 sq ft) -- "Tips and Tricks" flagged by various icons in each chapter referring to the various software programs in each chapter -- Instructor's Guide available -- PP available

Design has become our means of personal expression, whether we're buying Martha Stewart sheets at K-Mart, lining up for the latest Air Jordan sneakers or Manolo Blahnik pumps, or driving a Mini Cooper to our Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired house. Wear Your Chair is dedicated to the proposition that all design disciplines are created equal--and all of them should be fun. They also overlap. The authors examine design history, trends, and ideas about creativity with the goal of expanding our understanding about how these overlaps work. We learn how influential designers work across many mediums and possess a design "tool kit": a respect for the past, an understanding of technology, the pursuit of creative and collaborative solutions, and a willingness to keep learning. We see how design, function, and form--from light fixtures to packaging to shoes--is grounded in innovation as well as a respect for the past. Aimed at design and fashion students as well as aficionados, this is a book about looking at the world without strict definitions--and about thinking outside of the box.
Man sucht zweckorientiert.
