Immergroen & populer; Kleinkuns; Kinderliedjies; Geestelike
volksliedjies soos Aanstap Rooies, My hartjie, my liefie en Sarie

This book (published in German by Bärenreiter in 1988 and now available in English translation for the first time) is a comprehensive guide to the genesis, transmission, structure, meaning, and performance considerations of Bach's St John Passion. One of Bach's most fascinating works, its text demonstrates a profound understanding of St John's Gospel. The musical design of the choruses with their numerous interrelationships is quite unique and demands some explanation. The fact that the Passion exists in four different versions leads Dürr to ask which changes were intentional and which were the result of practical constraints or of orders issued by church authorities.
The American Wind Symphony Editions comprises the more than 150
works commissioned by Robert Austin Boudreau for the American
Waterways Wind Orchestra and published by the C. F. Peters
Corporation. They are here presented for the first time in a
complete catalog with detailed descriptive data, biographical
information on the composers or arrangers, and score facsimiles.
The published music represents about half of the over 300 works
commissioned by the orchestra since 1957 in the largest such
project in wind instrument history. Presented in this catalog are
the published works of 83 composers from 28 countries, including
such notables as Alan Hovhaness, Toshiro Mayuzumi, Krzysztof
Penderecki, Ned Rorem, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. Genres include
original concert and chamber music, incidental and occasional
music, and theatrical and pop pieces, as well as arrangements of
past masters. The compositional characteristics of each work are
described, and data on number of performers, date of composition,
duration, score accessibility, composer nationality and dates, and
itemized instrumentation is listed. The catalog further provides
appendixes classifying the music by composer nationality, duration
of works, type of soloist, number of performers, programming
category, and other fields. A selective discography is included, as
are indexes of works by composer and title. Background history on
the wind orchestra and music publisher is also provided.
"The most infectiously enthusiastic introduction to Dylan yet. A
chronological study of Dylan's recorded performances, rather than
just his music or lyrics, it convincingly argues that this is where
his true genius lies."--David Sexton, "Times Literary Supplement."
Music-Dance explores the identity of choreomusical work, its
complex authorship and its modes of reception as well as the
cognitive processes involved in the reception of dance performance.
Scholars of dance and music analyse the ways in which a musical
score changes its prescriptive status when it becomes part of a
choreographic project, the encounter between sound and motion on
stage, and the intersection of listening and seeing. As well as
being of interest to musicologists and choreologists considering
issues such as notation, multimedia and the analysis of
performance, this volume will appeal to scholars interested in
applied research in the fields of cognition and neuroscience. The
line-up of authors comprises representative figures of today's
choreomusicology, dance historians, scholars of twentieth-century
composition and specialists in cognitive science and performance
studies. Among the topics covered are multimedia and the analysis
of performance; the notational practice of choreographers and the
parallel attempts of composers to find a graphic representation for
musical gestures; and the experience of dance as a paradigm for a
multimodal perception, which is investigated in terms of how the
association of sound and movement triggers emotions and specific
forms of cognition.
"Anything Bob Dylan sings--and any way he chooses to sing it--is
worth hearing. Anything Paul Williams writes about Bob Dylan--and
always in his wonderfully unpretentious, conversational and
heartfelt manner--is worth reading. "Performing Artist" immediately
enters the canon as one of the few necessary books on Bob
Dylan."--Jonathan Cott, contributing editor, "Rolling Stone."

vocables. The swelling dynamics and long, held notes create an
immersive wash of sound.

setting of an original text by Mark De-Lisser and Clare Dove in a
pop ballad style. It conveys a heartfelt and powerful message that
is perfect for Christmas concerts. The song includes solos from

accompaniment enriched with extended and altered chords.
for solo organ In this organ voluntary, Skempton has crafted a wash
of melting lines using his distinctive harmonic language.
Affirmation expands from a singular note into undulating four- and
five-part textures. This, combined with its molto largo tempo,
instils a reflective mood.
for SSA and piano This uplifting work by American composer Reginal
Wright sets a text by the nineteenth-century poet Arthur
O'Shaughnessy. The powerful words are sung to a memorable melody
embellished with syncopation and triplets. The voices are
accompanied by rippling broken chords enriched with falling
chromatic lines. A version for SATB and piano is also available.
for SATB and piano. An upbeat setting of words by Charles Bennett
celebrating the arrival of spring, Opening features changing
metres, a compelling verse-refrain structure, and catchy melodies.
A darker middle section mirrors the text's reflection on winter's
snow and silence, before the music opens out into a final, joyful
statement of the verse and refrain as the first signs of spring
appear.
