Denmark has an international reputation for being one of the happiest nations in the world, and hygge is widely recognised to be the magic ingredient to this happiness.
Hygge has been described as everything from "the art of creating intimacy", "cosines of the soul", "the absence of annoyance" to "taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things", "cosy togetherness" and "the pursuit of everyday pleasures".
Hooga? Hhyooguh? Heurgh? It is not really important how you choose to pronounce or even spell 'hygge'. What is important is that you feel it. Whether you're cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one, or sharing comfort food with your closest friends, hygge is about creating an atmosphere where we can let your guard down.
The Little Book of Hygge is the definitive, must-read introduction to hygge, written by Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen. The book is packed full of original research on hygge, conducted by Meik and his team, along with beautiful photographs, recipes and ideas to help you add a touch of hygge to your life.
This textbook carefully guides learners through the principles of body analysis, heat and water treatments, masks and wraps, tanning, massage techniques, and electrical applications.
Explaining its subject accessibly, and with practical diagrams and sumptuous photographs throughout, The Art and Science of Spa & Body Therapy helps spa technicians to understand both the theory and practice of their vocation.

Peels and Chemical Exfoliation, one of fourteen titles in Milady's
Aesthetician Series, successfully exposes the reader to a broad
understanding of the use of specific peeling agents and how they
react on the skin. In this text, the author addresses the advanced
educational needs of aestheticians and nurses in such settings as
medical skin care facilities, day spas and resort spas. Through
specific case studies, clinicians will improve their knowledge of
the peeling process. These studies validate and underscore the
clinical information. Unique to this publication is an expanded
chapter dedicated to peeling agents, indications for use and
predictable outcomes. Finally, policy and procedure guides show the
clinician, physician or facility how to implement ideas and
programs.
An in-depth, full-color, step-by-step guide to the new golf swing
that has taken the PGA Tour by storm
The traditional golf swing requires a level of coordination that
few golfers have. So it's no surprise that, despite huge advances
in club and ball technology, the average golf handicap in America
has dropped by only one stroke since 1990. Maverick golf
instructors Michael Bennett and Andy Plummer spent a decade
researching the swing, eventually combining physiology and physics
to create a method they dubbed the "Stack and Tilt." The result?
Big-name pros like Mike Weir, Tommy Armour III, and Aaron Baddeley
are already converts, and Bennett and Plummer are now two of the
most soughtafter swing coaches in the game.
Making these breakthroughs available to everyone, "The Stack and
Tilt Swing" is a handsome, fully illustrated, complete course,
packed with more than two hundred full-color photographs that make
it easy for golfers at all levels to adopt this radical yet simple
approach. Analyzing why the traditional swing won't work for most
golfers, the authors explain the importance of keeping the upper
body stacked over the lower body, while the spine tilts toward the
target during the backswing, greatly reducing the inconsistencies
created by the old-fashioned approach. Enhanced with practice
routines, a troubleshooting list, test cases, and point-by-point
assistance, this is the breakthrough guide to golf's hot new secret
weapon.

Index - PREFACE - The growth of the cosmetic industry in the U.S.A.
is a prime example of the dynamics of industry. From 1914 to 1966
the retail cosmetic sales within the U.S.A. went from almost $40
million to well over $3 billion. Part of the reason for this
upsurge can be attributed to the increased interest shown by men in
cosmetic products such as various shaving creams, colognes, hair
tonics and conditioners. Because of the importance of this field of
chemical science, it seemed pertinent to produce a chemical
formulary specializing in cosmetic preparations of all types. The
formulas and data in this book have all been contributed within the
past twelve months by the companies listed on page iv They are
printed as contributed and thus there are variations in manner of
presentation. The formulas included here are of an experimental
nature and are intended to be used as starting points for the
industrial chemist, and for those who wish to experiment in their
own right. Many of the formulas can serve as successful products
without any alterations required. However, once the chemist has
familiarized himself with the formulas as they stand, the adventure
of individual experimentation begins. All data is based on U.S.
Specification and practice, but readers in other countries should
not find it difficult to adapt the formulas for their own use.

last 100 years, but applying decoration to the face and body may be

public following of her own-has written the first real history of

ages, the icons that people emulate and how they achieved their
effects, the impact on women's lives and the present and future of
make-up from high profile practitioners artists to cosmetic
breakthroughs. Along with the glamorous trappings, this is also
about women's history and the ways in which we can understand their
story through the prism of make-up.

'I've long wished perfumery to be taken seriously as an art, and
for scent critics to be as fierce as opera critics, and for the
wearers of certain "fragrances" to be hissed in public, while
others are cheered. This year has brought Perfumes: The Guide by
Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez, which I breathed in, rather than
read, in one delighted gulp.' Hilary Mantel, Guardian Perfumes: The
Guide is the culmination of Turin's lifelong obsession and rare
scientific flair and Sanchez's stylish and devoted blogging about
every scent that she's ever loved and loathed. Together they make a
fine and utterly persuasive argument for the unrecognised craft of
perfume-making. Perfume writing has certainly never been this
honest, compelling or downright entertaining.

WALLSTREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER Live lighter. Live freer. Live a
bigger life with less. In Declutter Like a Mother, Allie Casazza
comes alongside you to explore: Why decluttering calms anxiety in
your heart and lessens tension in your relationships. How to ensure
your house is working for you, not against you. Why kids thrive
when they're not overwhelmed with options. How to make time, when
you feel you don't have time, to declutter. Allie Casazza was tired
of feeling it was her against the laundry in her home. She wondered
if somewhere beneath her frantic days and the mountains of toys in
the playroom she would ever find joy and peace in motherhood. Then
she discovered the abundance . . . of less. As she purged her home
of excess stuff, Allie discovered a lifestyle that strengthened her
marriage, saved her motherhood, and helped her develop her gifts in
a way that no amount of new kitchen appliances or new organizing
system ever could. Research studies show a direct link between
stress levels and the amount of physical possessions people have in
their homes, and Allie has seen that truth play out in her own life
and in the lives of hundreds of thousands of other moms she has
mentored through her business and online courses. She proclaims:
You don't need a home that's perfect. You need a home that's
lighter. Discover less stress, more space. Less chaos, more peace.
Less of what doesn't matter, so you have room for what matters most
of all.

The interplay between clothes and social order in early modern
societies is well known. Differences in dress and hierarchies of
appearances coincided with and structured social hierarchies and
notions of difference. However, clothes did not merely reproduce
set social patterns. They were agents of change, actively used by
individuals and groups to make claims and transgress formal
boundaries. This was not least the case for the revolutionary
decades of the late eighteenth century, the period in focus of this
book. Unlike previous studies on sumptuary laws and other legal
actions taken by governments and formal power holders, this book
offers a broader and more everyday perspective on late
eighteenth-century sartorial discourse. In 1773, there was a
publicly announced prize competition on the advantages and
disadvantages of a national dress in Sweden. Departing from the
submitted replies, the study opens a window onto the sartorial
world. Several fields of cultural history are brought together:
social culture in terms of order, hierarchies, and notions of
difference; sartorial culture with contemporary views on dress and
moral aspects of sartorial practices; and visual culture in terms
of sartorial means of making a difference and the emphasis on the
necessity of a legible social order.
