Die freien Hauttransplantationen stellen nicht nur einen wichtigen Teil in der taglichen Arbeit des Plastikers dar, sondern sind seit Jahren zunehmend zum unentbehrlichen Rustzeug des Allgemeinchirurgen geworden. Dieser sieht sich daher gezwungen, mit dem Ausbau und der Verfeinerung der Technik in dieser Materie Schritt zu halten. An ihn richtet sich daher die vorliegende Mono- graphie mit an erster Stelle, in der Hoffnung, ihm in dieser Bestrebung dienen zu konnen. Bei aller Knappheit, die in der Darstellung angestrebt wurde, muBte doch auf viele Einzelheiten, vor allem der Technik eingegangen werden, ist doch die plastische Chirurgie im allgemeinen und die Technik der freien Hauttrans- plantationen im besonderen trotz aller GroBzugigkeit, die sie in der Konzep- tion gewahrt, eine Kunst des Details. Beim heutigen Stande der Technik genugt es nicht mehr, ein Hauttransplantat schlecht und recht zur Anheilung zu bringen. Vielmehr muB je nach Sachlage des Einzelfalles ein Optimum an funktioneller und asthetischer Qualitat des Hauttransplantates gefordert wer- den, will man uber jenen Stand hinausgelangen, der schon vor J ahrzehnten Allgemeingut eines jeden Chirurgen war. Gerade dazu aber bedarf es der Ver- feinerung der Technik.
