Traditionally used to stiffen ink, Magnesium Carbonate can reduce the gloss level of ink and when added to ink it becomes transparent - there will be no alteration of colour of the ink. It is recommended that it is added in small amounts at a time - little is needed to add body to an ink. Magnesium Carbonate can be used with both Etching and Relief Inks. Mix well and keep away from excessive heat.

The line is created as the dry point or needle is dragged or drawn over the plate.If this tool is used to add detail or tone directly to the metal plate (a technique known as 'drypoint'), it will inscribe a line with a slight burr, which will print a blurred, indistinct line.This effect can be controlled by manipulating the angle at which the point meets the plate.

Ink will never skin or harden in the jar or the ink slab, meaning minimal ink is wasted.
