back of the plate will require the application of an acid resistant
stop out. Copper is a harder metal than zinc and plates will withstand

The smooth surface and soft texture of the SoftCut lino sheets makes cutting easy: blades will glide through with minimal effort. SoftCut prints well onto a range of surfaces including paper, card and fabric. It can even print onto curved surfaces due to its flexibility. Akua Intaglio Ink was originally formulated for intaglio printmaking, however this ink can also be applied with a brayer for relief printmaking, monotype, and collagraphs; and it will print from any plastic, wood, linoleum or metal plate. It is a soy based ink which is made with high quality lightfast pigments. The inks have a thick consistency with minimal water content and contain no toxic driers - this means a longer working time. The ink cleans up easily with a dry rag followed by soap and water. Inexpensive liquid dish detergent can be used. Never use toxic solvents. Prints can be re-soaked immediately after printing if handled carefully. Once the print is dry, Akua Intaglio is permanent. Ink will never skin or harden in the jar or the ink slab, meaning minimal ink is wasted. Wiping the plate with Akua Intaglio is easier than wiping oil-based ink, meaning you need to spend less time cleaning up.

Speedball’s Speedy-Carve Blocks are designed for relief printmaking. They have a soft, putty-like surface which is easier to cut than traditional linoleum, and are designed for use with lino-cutting tools. As they are flexible, Speedy-Carve Blocks can be used to print onto flat or curved surfaces.As in lino-cutting, the desired design is cut in reverse into the surface of the block with gouges or knives. The water-based, high-quality aqua-Linoprint colours contain natural binders such as gum Arabic as well as organic/inorganic pigments. They are easy to apply due to optimum open-times and result in even, sharp prints with fast drying times (wipe-resistant after approx. 15 minutes).

All colours offer maximum light fastness (4 and 5 stars) and an excellent intensity (especially black). The formulation for the colours in tubes and jars is the same. Due to its fluid consistency all aqua-Linoprint colours can easily be applied to different surfaces such as paper, felt, cardboard and suitable also for wood engraving and printing with various materials.

The smooth colours are of pleasant odour and can be overprinted with other colours. They are intermixable, ready to use and can be diluted with water.

Japanese synthetic waterstones and slipstones for sharpening lino and woodcut tools of all types.

A medium, 1000 grit multiform synthetic waterstone from Japan. On one edge the curved radius changes from 13mm to 3mm over its length. The opposite edge is tapered at an angle of about 40° making it ideal for sharpening the inside of V tools. The overall design allows the sharpening of a wide variety of tools from flat and wide to small narrow gouges and all V tools.

The 1000 grit can be described as a medium stone and is used to sharpen to an almost perfect cutting edge. The 4000 grit or fine stone is used for the final hone and polish and will leave the tool ready for use. Before use the stones will need to be soaked in water for 10 to 15 minutes. After use the stones are best air dried and wrapped in a soft cloth for storage.
