The Essdee Soft Lino Roller is designed for use in relief printmaking, and is an effective tool for inking lino sheets and softer surfaces such as Speedball Speedy Carve Blocks.Developed for relief printing, this softer 40 shore synthetic rubber roller is resistant to printers chemicals and not affected by exposure to daylight. Designed to give a more compliant coverage than hard rubber material, it is more forgiving on uneven surfaces. It is a favourite with certain printing methods but needs extra care in storage to prevent indentation to its soft surface.

This heavyweight roller is perfectly smooth allowing for a greater quantity of ink to be held and in doing so also means a greater amount of coverage.  A wet roller can simply be turned over and the handle doubles as a stand for cleaner working. Made from a hand-ground concentric EPDM rubber surface, which means it is flexible yet resistant to weathering. The EDPM rubber is of medium hardness and gives excellent pickup and deposit of all types of ink. This tool is the choice for the artisan printmaker with good recovery to indentation, and resistance to common printing chemicals. Japanese synthetic waterstones and slipstones for sharpening lino and woodcut tools of all types.

A medium, 1000 grit multiform synthetic waterstone from Japan. On one edge the curved radius changes from 13mm to 3mm over its length. The opposite edge is tapered at an angle of about 40° making it ideal for sharpening the inside of V tools. The overall design allows the sharpening of a wide variety of tools from flat and wide to small narrow gouges and all V tools.

The 1000 grit can be described as a medium stone and is used to sharpen to an almost perfect cutting edge. The 4000 grit or fine stone is used for the final hone and polish and will leave the tool ready for use. Before use the stones will need to be soaked in water for 10 to 15 minutes. After use the stones are best air dried and wrapped in a soft cloth for storage.

Gamblin Relief Inks are formulated for all relief techniques including woodblock, linocut, monotype, and Solarplate. They contain the right amount of stiffness and tack to hold fine detail, yet spread evenly on the block or plate. These soft inks should be rolled in a thin layer over the block or plate, their high pigment load will ensure a transfer of intense colour onto the paper. The palette of ten colours is designed to give artists pure pigmented colours straight from the jar, along with a wide range of colour mixing capabilities.

In addition, Gamblin relief inks are designed to suit the specific requirements needed for monotype printing. Their unique softer body and high pigment load allow them to be rolled out in thinner applications with greater colour intensity, particularly as you print multiple layers of colour.

This new-generation acid resist has been specially designed as part of the acrylic-resist etching system. The lines and marks which can be generated by using the Lascaux Hard resist are comparable to those offered by traditional hard grounds. It is painted on the plate in a thin even layer which when dry can be drawn into with etching tools. As the waxy resist allows free movement of the etching needle, delicate line drawings can be made. The resist may be used in its clear form or coloured after application. Broader open marks can also be created in the layer of resist. Lascaux Hard resist is water-soluble, ready to use, nontoxic and suitable for use on copper, brass, zinc, steel and aluminium. Plates should be correctly prepared, whether unbitten or previously etched (e.g. aquatint, deep open bite). The resist is highly acid resistant and durable.
