Product Design Review - A Methodology for Error-Free Product Development (Hardcover): Takashi Ichida Product Design Review - A Methodology for Error-Free Product Development (Hardcover)
Takashi Ichida
R2,150 Discovery Miles 21 500 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The goal of the world class company is to produce a product or service that offers customers the highest quality at the lowest cost and in the shortest time possible. "Product Design Review" describes a highly effective method for quality control in product design, as well as its applications in a wide variety of business settings.

Take care of the problems that erupt during product development by nipping them in the bud (during the design stage). Takashi Ichida describes a powerful tool insuring quality at concept stage, thereby eliminating redesign, retooling, rework, and error throughout the production process. The program he describes can be carried out through every phase of new product development - - from product planning to design, production, and marketing. Also explains how you can incorporate your customer feedback into the next production cycle.

You'll always need to modify any process improvement technology to suit your company's culture, product type, manufacturing approach, and customer needs. "Product Design Review" has taken case studies from a cross section of industries and describes each company's unique application of Ichida's process. You'll not only see the tremendous results these companies have achieved by using Design Review, but you'll also see the difficulties they've encountered.

Also included are five essays that compare Design Review with other innovations in manufacturing process such as artificial intelligence, checklists, quality function deployment (QFD), design of experiments (DOE), and configuration control.

Degradation Processes in Reliability (Hardcover): Kahle Degradation Processes in Reliability (Hardcover)
Kahle
R3,754 Discovery Miles 37 540 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

"Degradation process" refers to many types of reliability models, which correspond to various kinds of stochastic processes used for deterioration modeling. This book focuses on the case of a univariate degradation model with a continuous set of possible outcomes. The envisioned univariate models have one single measurable quantity which is assumed to be observed over time. The first three chapters are each devoted to one degradation model. The last chapter illustrates the use of the previously described degradation models on some real data sets. For each of the degradation models, the authors provide probabilistic results and explore simulation tools for sample paths generation. Various estimation procedures are also developed.

Nuclear Power and Energy Security (Hardcover, 2010 ed.): Samuel Apikyan, David Diamond Nuclear Power and Energy Security (Hardcover, 2010 ed.)
Samuel Apikyan, David Diamond
R5,300 Discovery Miles 53 000 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

The basic logic is very simple. Countries around the globe have a need for more electrical generating capacity because of increases in population and increases in energy use per capita. The needs are constrained by the requirement that the ba- load energy source be economical, secure, and not emit climate-changing gases. Nuclear power fits this description. Therefore, many countries that have not had a nuclear power program (or only had a small program) see a need to develop one in the future. However, the development of a national nuclear energy program is not so simple. The purpose of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Nuclear Power and Energy Security was to contribute to our understanding of how these programs might evolve. The workshop took place 26-29 May 2009 in Yerevan, Armenia. Approximately 50 participants discussed the infrastructure that is needed and some of the reactor options that might be considered. The papers in this book helped define the discussion that took place. The infrastructure that is needed includes a legal framework, a functioning regulator, a plan for waste disposal, a plan for emergency response, etc. These needs were explained and just as importantly, it was explained what international, bilateral, and regional cooperation is available. Although there were many co- tries represented, the Armenian experience was of particular interest because of where the meeting was located. The papers on reactor options covered both innovative and evolutionary designs.

Multi-state System Reliability Analysis and Optimization for Engineers and Industrial Managers (Hardcover, 2010 Ed.): Anatoly... Multi-state System Reliability Analysis and Optimization for Engineers and Industrial Managers (Hardcover, 2010 Ed.)

R6,041 Discovery Miles 60 410 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Multi-state System Reliability Analysis and Optimization for Engineers and Industrial Managers presents a comprehensive, up-to-date description of multi-state system (MSS) reliability as a natural extension of classical binary-state reliability. It presents all essential theoretical achievements in the field, but is also practically oriented. New theoretical issues are described, including: * combined Markov and semi-Markov processes methods, and universal generating function techniques; * statistical data processing for MSSs; * reliability analysis of aging MSSs; * methods for cost-reliability and cost-availability analysis of MSSs; and * main definitions and concepts of fuzzy MSS. Multi-state System Reliability Analysis and Optimization for Engineers and Industrial Managers also discusses life cycle cost analysis and practical optimal decision making for real world MSSs. Numerous examples are included in each section in order to illustrate mathematical tools. Besides these examples, real world MSSs (such as power generating and transmission systems, air-conditioning systems, production systems, etc.) are considered as case studies. Multi-state System Reliability Analysis and Optimization for Engineers and Industrial Managers also describes basic concepts of MSS, MSS reliability measures and tools for MSS reliability assessment and optimization. It is a self-contained study resource and does not require prior knowledge from its readers, making the book attractive for researchers as well as for practical engineers and industrial managers.
