This new manual from Haynes covers eight years and two generations
of Suzuki's largest GSX-R. The 2009 K9 model was a completely
different bike to the previous GSX-R1000, with new engine, chassis

Volume Two of Laurie Akehurst's account of London Transport's
country buses covers the nineteen fifties, a decade that opened
with the promise of expansion but closed with the services
beginning their decline. It was a decade in which the fleet was
transformed by the continuing arrival of new RTs and the
introduction of the RF, GS and RLH types. As with Volume One, the
story is well illustrated.

The W114 and W115 models were enormously successful for
Mercedes-Benz, and their sales in nine years of production between
1967 and 1976 almost equalled the total of all Mercedes passenger
models built in the 23 years between 1945 and the time of their
introduction in 1968. There were many reasons for this success, but
perhaps the most important was that Mercedes expanded the range to
include a simply vast amount of variants including four-cylinder
and six-cylinder petrol engines, four-cylinder diesels; saloons,
coupes and long-wheelbase models. With around 200 photographs, this
book features the story of the design and development of the W114
and W115 ranges. It gives full technical specifications, including
paint and interior trim choices; includes a chapter on the special
US variants; gives production tables and model type codes and
explores the Experimental Safety Vehicles developed from these
cars. Finally, there is a chapter on buying and owning a 114- or
115-series Mercedes.
In 1953 Marlon Brando donned a black leather Perfecto motorcycle
jacket, military cap, denim jeans, and engineer boots to portray
Johnny, sneering leader of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, in The
Wild One. In 1954 Tom of Finland abandoned brown leather in his
artwork to create his own wild ones: muscular, hyper-masculine,
black leather-clad rebels with powerful engines between their legs.
The look was adopted by the Satyrs Motorcycle Club, the first gay
outlaw club, that same year, making Tom's fantasy world reality. Of
course, being Tom, he soon customized his new gay icons, adding
leather jodhpurs, knee high boots and leather caps, and every
motorcycle bore the brand name "Tom" on the gas tank. Tom's bikers
first appeared as two "Motorcycle Boys" in Physique Pictorial,
Winter 1958. Another made the cover of the April 1960 issue. Bikers
dominated his PP content from then on, as a nod to its American
readership as much as his growing obsession. When he sought an
ongoing character, a personal avatar, in 1968, he created Kake as
the ultimate biker leatherman, and elaborated on his riding
adventures - of every kind - through 26-panel stories. Tom adopted
Kake's gear as his own, presenting in black leather jacket, white
t-shirt, jeans, and high boots to the end of his life. The Little
Book of Tom: Bikers includes Tom's earliest images for Physique
Pictorial, Kake in motorcycle gear, biker panel stories, and
sizzling single drawings, all packed into 192 pages of sexy,
masculine men enjoying other masculine men in black leather, blue
jeans, and high black boots. On bikes.

Sir William Lyons enjoyed a seemingly unstoppable rise to fame and
fortune in the motor industry, and the Jaguar brand which he
introduced became world-famous. Yet it did not happen overnight. In
the 1920s he was in Blackpool, styling motorcycle sidecars, in the
1930s he was in Coventry developing the SS motor car, and the
stand-alone Jaguar company did not appear until 1945. Until 1972,
when he retired from business, Sir William was the mainstream, the
chairman, the chief stylist, and the inspiration of all things
Jaguar.
Helped along by the amazing new XK engine of 1948, by motor racing
success at Le Mans, and by the stunning style of cars like the
XK120, the Mk 2 saloons and the extraordinary E-Type, Jaguar soon
became world-famous. Along the way the company absorbed Daimler and
Coventry-Climax, then merged voluntarily with BMC in 1966, and
returned to Le Mans racing with great success in the 1980s.
Although the company was later commercially buffeted by its
involvement with British Leyland, with Ford and latterly with Land
Rover, and finally the Indian conglomerate Tata which now controls
the business, the company's products have always been stunning.
Sports coupes which reach well beyond 150mph, sleek executive
saloons with unbeatable styling, and the promise of much innovation
in the next few years make this a story whose climax is yet to
come.

The third-generation or L322 Range Rover took the Land Rover marque

the tone for the models to follow. This book documents the whole
story of this milestone model with the aid of more than 200
photographs. It includes: the story of the model's origins as the
L30 project when BMW owned Land Rover; the styling, engineering and
specification changes introduced over the lifetime of L322 from
2001 to 2012 and a chapter on the model's career in the USA. There
is an overview of the aftermarket enhancements from the leading
specialists of the day. Full technical specifications are given,
plus paint colours and interior trim choices and finally there is

A commemorative history of fifty years of the iconic Ford Transit
van, from the launch of the first-generation Transit in 1965, right
up to the present day. Covering the full range of Transit models
and with over three hundred photographs (including previously
unpublished pictures from Ford's picture archive), Ford Transit -
Fifty Years is an ideal resource for anyone with an interest in
this world-beating commercial vehicle. Written by acknowledged Ford
Transit expert Peter Lee, the book covers the development era -
light commercial vehicles in the 1950s, the 'Project Redcap'
prototypes and the first Transit. Production and development of all
eight generations and variants of Transits are also covered,
including custom vans, camper vans, minibuses and special vehicle
options. Specification guides, awards, sales figures are all
included as well as marketing worldwide. Finally, there are
interviews with designers, engineers and Ford employees, along with
owners' experiences. The Transit has and continues to receive
numerous awards, voted 'International Van of the Year' in 2001 and
2013. With the 2014 launch of the all-new two-tonne Transit and its
pioneering technology, this looks to be only the first fifty years
of the Ford Transit story.
For the first half of the twentieth century, Great Britain led the
world in motorcycle design and production, exporting its products
to countries all over the globe. However, by 1960 this once-great
industry had fallen into what was to be a terminal decline. During
the 1960s and '70s Britain still manufactured a wide range of
machines, but a combination of poor management, lack of investment,
foreign competition (notably from Japan), and the arrival of the
small, affordable car conspired to sound the death knell for most
British motorcycles by the end of the 1970s. Mick Walker uses a
host of colourful illustrations to explore the models produced by
British companies and their foreign competitors, and explains what
the industry did to fight its ultimate demise.
The last Routemaster to ply a proper London bus route retired to
the garage back in 2005. But over 15 years later, this
indestructible bus still pops up everywhere! It's just that
nowadays merely in London Routemasters are wedding buses, Ghost
Buses, afternoon tea buses, mobile yoghurt stalls on the South
Bank... And elsewhere, all over the world, they have found new
homes and been put to the most unlikely but serendipitous uses. So
now, Harry Rosehill catalogues all the possible uses of a
Routemaster bus, from a tea room in Essex to promoting a circus in
Russia to an office in Bermuda, from offering bra-fitting
facilities to a history of the potato, not to mention making
history during the Iraq War as a Human Shield in Baghdad. Along the
way he explains how Routemasters were built to last so long, why
they've become so cherished, and footbrake valves are so hard to
come by. Funny, surprising and touching, Routemasters of the
Universe is an alternative history of a true London icon, and a
celebration of ingenuity, determination and the sheer variety of
human life.
The 3-cylinder Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket 3 were developed to
compete with Honda's forthcoming 750cc motorcycle. Initially they
did not compare well - although very fast, they lacked
sophistication and their quirky styling was offputting - and the
decision was made to suspend production. This was not the most
auspicious start, but a fightback was initiated and in 1971 the
factory race team had a triumphant year including placing 1st, 2nd
and 3rd at the Daytona 200. With over 250 photographs, the full
rollercoaster-ride history of these bikes is described, including:
how the bikes came to be, including a timeline of significant
events; a year-by-year account of the evolution of the bikes,
through the T150, T160 and Rocket 3; the story of the Hurricane;
the full racing history and, finally, the Triumph 3-cylinder bikes
today.
This DIY manual covers everything you need to know about automotive
diagnostic fault codes.

Now in paperback, a "piercing and beautiful" (Domenica Ruta) memoir
about one woman's road to hope following the death of her troubled
brother, told through the series of cars that accompanied her
Growing up in a blue-collar family in the Midwest, Melissa
Stephenson longed for escape. Her wanderlust was an innate reaction
to the powerful personalities around her, and came too from her
desire to find a place in the world where her artistic ambitions
wouldn't be thwarted. She found in automobiles the promise of a
future. From a lineage of secondhand family cars of the late '60s,
to the Honda that carried her from Montana to Texas as her new
marriage disintegrated, to the '70s Ford she drove away from her
brother's house after he took his life (leaving Melissa the truck,
a dog, and a few mix tapes), to the VW van she now uses to take her
kids camping, she knows these cars better than she knows some of
the people closest to her. Driven from grief and toward hope,
Melissa reckons with what it means to lose a beloved sibling.
Driven is a powerful story of healing, for all who have had to look
back at pain to find the way forward.
