In the bitter cold of an unrelenting winter Tomas and his son,
Peter, arrive in Chust and despite the inhospitability of the
villagers settle there as woodcutters. Tomas digs a channel of
fast-flowing waters around their hut so they have their own little
island kingdom. Peter doesn't understand why his father has done
this, nor why his father carries a long battered box everywhere
they go, and why he is forbidden to know its contents. But when a
band of gypsies comes to the village Peter's drab existence is
turned upside down. He is infatuated by the beautiful gypsy
princess, Sofia, intoxicated by their love of life and drawn into
their deadly quest. For Chust is a dying community - where the dead
come back to wreak revenge on the living. Amidst the terrifying
events that follow, Peter is stunned to see his father change from
a disillusioned man to the warrior hero he once was.

songs, unique to this series, which bring the facts to life. At the
end of the book is a simple playscript for children to act out,
which enacts a dramatic Viking sea journey to a new life in
Britain.
Rain, Wind, Thunder, Fire-- King Lear is Shakespeare's brilliant
play about truth, love, and madness. King Lear slowly descends into
madness after dividing his kingdom between the two daughters who
are willing to flatter him rather than giving it to the one
daughter who actually loves him. Have more than thou showest, Speak
less than thou knowest, Lend less than thou owest, Ride more than
thou goest, Learn more than thou trowest.

This is a courtroom drama about children's favourite nursery
characters, Bo Peep, Polly Flinders, Old Mother Hubbard, Mary Mary
and many more. Three wolves stand accused, but are they really the
villains.
Oxford School Shakespeare is an acclaimed edition especially
designed for students, with accessible on-page notes and
explanatory illustrations, clear background information, and
rigorous but accessible scholarly credentials. Measure for Measure
is a popular text for study by secondary students the world over.
This edition includes illustrations, preliminary notes, reading
lists and classroom notes. This title is suitable for all exam
boards and for the most recent AS/A level specifications.
Each book in this series combines an original play and a set of
individual "Production Notes". The playscripts may be photocopied
and distributed for classroom use. The "Production Notes" give
practical help with casting, costumes, scenery and staging of the
play itself. This play is based upon the traditional fairy story,
where the Beast of the title turns out to be a gigantic slug with a
slime problem. The running time of the play is approximately 45
minutes.
An engaging classroom playscript. Blending science fiction with the
dangers of human ambition, this is a story of scientific discovery
turned nightmare. There are many whispered questions when medical
student Griffin arrives at a small village wrapped in bandages;
however, no one can guess the true reason for his disguise. Terror,
revenge and chaos ensue as Griffin, and those around him, come to
terms with the effects of his latest experiment.
