This book is developed by focusing on the four issues: (1) product strategy of private brand; (2) pricing strategy of private brand; (3) channel strategy with private brand introduction; and (4) supply chain coordination with private brand introduction. Private brand (PB), also known as private label (PL) or store brand (SB), refers to a brand created and controlled by a retailer. In the 1960s and 1970s, private labels began to emerge in France and England. Although private label has grown rapidly worldwide, market share varies greatly from region to region. According to Nielsen's 2018 Global Private Label Report, the largest markets for private-label products are found primarily in the more mature European retail markets. In recent years, many large domestic retail enterprises have launched their own brand products. With the growth of e-commerce, some online retailers have also launched private-label goods. JD started to introduce its private brands in 2010, with annual sales of its private brand products reaching several hundred million yuan. However, at present, the market share of China's private label is only 1-3%, which still has a big gap compared with Europe and America.The main challenges to China's private label lie in private brand operations management. Among them, how to select the correct product categories, how to make pricing decision, how to restructure channels and how to coordinate supply chain after introducing private brands are four operations management problems need to be solved.

This unique book is positioned at the crossroads of strategic management and international business. Based on an in-depth literature review, the author empirically assesses the widely shared, implicit assumption that strategic management processes can be globally applied in a standardized, i.e., culture-free, manner. So far, a variety of tools have also been recommended but without incorporating cultural differences. As many organizations observe that this ethnocentric view is more an illusion than reality, strategic management research has started to focus on the cultural sensitivity of its theories, tools, and processes to provide practitioners in a multicultural setting with adequate know-how and tools. To foster long-term decision-making despite uncertainty, scenario planning is frequently applied by practitioners. Up until today, scenario planning has however gained little attention from the academic community. Through this book, the author presents a newly developed framework for strategic management that combines the cultural value scale to test the cultural sensitivity of the long-term planning tool called "scenario planning." The different process steps of scenario planning have been individually examined for their sensitivity toward the cultural dimensions of uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation. The investigation is based on a unique, global set of management consultants working for a leading professional service firm. The results of this research show the cultural sensitivity of scenario planning, with different degrees of the process steps and the tested cultural dimensions.

This volume represents the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Innovation through Knowledge Transfer, InnovationKT'2010, organised jointly by KES International and the Institute of Knowledge Transfer, and taking place in Coventry, UK on 7&8 December 2010. Featuring world-class invited speakers and contributions from a range of backgrounds and countries, the conference provided an excellent opportunity to disseminate, share and discuss the impact of university-business interaction through knowledge transfer in all its forms. There were two main motivations in initiating the Innovation through Knowledge Transfer series. The first aim was to provide the chance for publication on a subject where few opportunities exist already. The second motivation was to foster the development of a community from the diverse range of individuals practicing knowledge transfer. It is becoming clear that the delegates of the conference are drawn from a diverse community of practice. InnovationKT'2010 has succeeded in bringing together contributions from both the academic and practitioner sections of the knowledge transfer community. The programme contained seven invited keynote talks, 40 oral presentations grouped into eight sessions, and one interactive workshop. The proceedings contain 29 chapters drawn from this material. There were 91 registered delegates drawn from 10 countries of the world. The field of knowledge transfer is still immature, but these proceedings demonstrate that InnovationKT conference is making a significant contribution to its academic development. "
Since 2007, the biennial International Conferences on Dynamics in Logistics (LDIC) offers researchers and practitioners from logistics, operations research, production, industrial and electrical engineering as well as from computer science an opportunity to meet and to discuss the latest developments in this particular research domain. From February 12th to 14th 2020 for the seventh time, LDIC 2020 is held in Bremen, Germany. Similar to its six predecessors, the Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics (LogDynamics) organizes this conference. The spectrum of topics reaches from the dynamic modeling, planning and control of processes over supply chain management and maritime logistics to innovative technologies and robotic applications for cyber-physical production and logistics systems. LDIC 2020 provides a forum for the discussion of advances in that matter. The conference program consists of three invited keynote speeches and 51 papers selected by a severe double-blind reviewing process. Within these proceedings all the papers are published. By this, the proceedings give an interdisciplinary outline on the state of the art of dynamics in logistics as well as identify challenges and solutions for logistics today and tomorrow.
