B.J. Walker, C.Dennis Hall, Robert Slinn, Terry Kee, Neil Bricklebank, …
R10,066 Discovery Miles 100 660 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Organophosphorus Chemistry provides a comprehensive annual review of the literature. Coverage includes phosphines and their chalcogenides, phosphonium salts, low coordination number phosphorus compounds, penta- and hexa-coordinated compounds, tervalent phosphorus acids, nucleotides and nucleic acids, ylides and related compounds, and phosphazenes. The series will be of value to research workers in universities, government and industrial research organisations, whose work involves the use of organophosphorus compounds. It provides a concise but comprehensive survey of a vast field of study with a wide variety of applications, enabling the reader to rapidly keep abreast of the latest developments in their specialist areas. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

The series Topics in Current Chemistry Collections presents critical reviews from the journal Topics in Current Chemistry organized in topical volumes. The scope of coverage is all areas of chemical science including the interfaces with related disciplines such as biology, medicine and materials science. The goal of each thematic volume is to give the non-specialist reader, whether in academia or industry, a comprehensive insight into an area where new research is emerging which is of interest to a larger scientific audience. Each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years are presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed. The coverage is not intended to be an exhaustive summary of the field or include large quantities of data, but should rather be conceptual, concentrating on the methodological thinking that will allow the non-specialist reader to understand the information presented. Contributions also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field.

Excited States and Photochemistry of Organic Molecules (Hardcover, Revised and Improved English-Language Edition): M Klessinger Excited States and Photochemistry of Organic Molecules (Hardcover, Revised and Improved English-Language Edition)
M Klessinger
R7,747 Discovery Miles 77 470 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Excited States and Photochemistry of Organic Molecules Martin Klessinger Josef Michl This book provides a non-mathematical introduction to electronic excitation in organic molecules, and offers an integrated view of the principles of electronic spectroscopy, photophysics, and photochemistry. This is the first book to incorporate recent advances in understanding the role of conical intersections in photochemical and photophysical processes. Throughout the book, the concepts of potential energy surfaces, bonding theory, and molecular electronic structure in the understanding of photochemistry are emphasized. Simple and intuitive qualitative models for the nature of electronic states are used to explain how electronic structure can be probed by spectroscopy with ordinary and polarized light, including natural and magnetic circular dichroism. Every chapter includes worked examples that illustrate practical applications of theory, as well as extensive references to the original literature. Excited States and Photochemistry of Organic Molecules is suitable for use as a text for graduate and advanced undergraduate students in physical organic chemistry and photochemistry. Carbohydrate Chemistry provides review coverage of all publications relevant to the chemistry of monosaccharides and oligosaccharides in a given year. The amount of research in this field appearing in the organic chemical literature is increasing because of the enhanced importance of the subject, especially in areas of medicinal chemistry and biology. In no part of the field is this more apparent than in the synthesis of oligosaccharides required by scientists working in glycobiology. Clycomedicinal chemistry and its reliance on carbohydrate synthesis is now very well established, for example, by the preparation of specific carbohydrate- based antigens, especially cancer-specific oligosaccharides and glycoconjugates. Coverage of topics such as nucleosides, amino-sugars, alditols and cyclitols also covers much research of relevance to biological and medicinal chemistry. Each volume of the series brings together references to all published work in given areas of the subject and serves as a comprehensive database for the active research chemist Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage in major areas of chemical research. Compiled by teams of leading authorities in the relevant subject areas, the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, with regular, in-depth accounts of progress in particular fields of chemistry. Subject coverage within different volumes of a given title is similar and publication is on an annual or biennial basis.

Max Garcia Melchor
R3,225 Discovery Miles 32 250 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Find out how theoretical calculations are used to determine, elucidate and propose mechanisms for Pd-catalyzed C-C cross-coupling reactions in Max Garcia Melchor's outstanding thesis. Garcia Melchor investigates one of the most significant and useful types of reactions in modern organic synthesis; the Pd-cross coupling reaction. Due to its versatility, broad scope and selectivity under mild conditions, this type of reaction can now be applied in fields as diverse as the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industry. Garcia Melchor studies the reaction intermediates and transition states involved in the Negishi, the copper-free Sonogashira and the asymmetric version of Suzuki-Miyaura coupling. He also characterizes and provides a detailed picture of the associated reaction mechanisms. The author has won numerous prizes for this work which has led to over eight publications in internationally renowned journals.
