Machine Learning in Sports - Identifying Potential Archers (Paperback, 1st ed. 2019): Rabiu Muazu Musa, Zahari Taha, Anwar P.P.... Machine Learning in Sports - Identifying Potential Archers (Paperback, 1st ed. 2019)
Rabiu Muazu Musa, Zahari Taha, Anwar P.P. Abdul Majeed, Mohamad Razali Abdullah
R1,527 Discovery Miles 15 270 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This brief highlights the association of different performance variables that influences archery performance and the employment of different machine learning algorithms in the identification of potential archers. The sport of archery is often associated with a myriad of performance indicators namely bio-physiological, psychological, anthropometric as well as physical fitness. Traditionally, the determination of potential archers is carried out by means of conventional statistical techniques. Nonetheless, such methods often fall short in associating non-linear relationships between the variables. This book explores the notion of machine learning that is capable of mitigating the aforesaid issue. This book is valuable for coaches and managers in identifying potential archers during talent identification programs.

Automatic Tuning of Compilers Using Machine Learning (Paperback, 1st ed. 2018): Amir H. Ashouri, Gianluca Palermo, John... Automatic Tuning of Compilers Using Machine Learning (Paperback, 1st ed. 2018)
Amir H. Ashouri, Gianluca Palermo, John Cavazos, Cristina Silvano
R1,597 Discovery Miles 15 970 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book explores break-through approaches to tackling and mitigating the well-known problems of compiler optimization using design space exploration and machine learning techniques. It demonstrates that not all the optimization passes are suitable for use within an optimization sequence and that, in fact, many of the available passes tend to counteract one another. After providing a comprehensive survey of currently available methodologies, including many experimental comparisons with state-of-the-art compiler frameworks, the book describes new approaches to solving the problem of selecting the best compiler optimizations and the phase-ordering problem, allowing readers to overcome the enormous complexity of choosing the right order of optimizations for each code segment in an application. As such, the book offers a valuable resource for a broad readership, including researchers interested in Computer Architecture, Electronic Design Automation and Machine Learning, as well as computer architects and compiler developers.

Bankruptcy Prediction through Soft Computing based Deep Learning Technique (Paperback, 1st ed. 2017): Arindam Chaudhuri, Soumya... Bankruptcy Prediction through Soft Computing based Deep Learning Technique (Paperback, 1st ed. 2017)
Arindam Chaudhuri, Soumya K. Ghosh
R1,547 Discovery Miles 15 470 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book proposes complex hierarchical deep architectures (HDA) for predicting bankruptcy, a topical issue for business and corporate institutions that in the past has been tackled using statistical, market-based and machine-intelligence prediction models. The HDA are formed through fuzzy rough tensor deep staking networks (FRTDSN) with structured, hierarchical rough Bayesian (HRB) models. FRTDSN is formalized through TDSN and fuzzy rough sets, and HRB is formed by incorporating probabilistic rough sets in structured hierarchical Bayesian model. Then FRTDSN is integrated with HRB to form the compound FRTDSN-HRB model. HRB enhances the prediction accuracy of FRTDSN-HRB model. The experimental datasets are adopted from Korean construction companies and American and European non-financial companies, and the research presented focuses on the impact of choice of cut-off points, sampling procedures and business cycle on the accuracy of bankruptcy prediction models. The book also highlights the fact that misclassification can result in erroneous predictions leading to prohibitive costs to investors and the economy, and shows that choice of cut-off point and sampling procedures affect rankings of various models. It also suggests that empirical cut-off points estimated from training samples result in the lowest misclassification costs for all the models. The book confirms that FRTDSN-HRB achieves superior performance compared to other statistical and soft-computing models. The experimental results are given in terms of several important statistical parameters revolving different business cycles and sub-cycles for the datasets considered and are of immense benefit to researchers working in this area.

R6,150 Discovery Miles 61 500 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The methods considered in the 7th conference on "Finite Volumes for Complex Applications" (Berlin, June 2014) have properties which offer distinct advantages for a number of applications. The second volume of the proceedings covers reviewed contributions reporting successful applications in the fields of fluid dynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, structural analysis, nuclear physics, semiconductor theory and other topics. The finite volume method in its various forms is a space discretization technique for partial differential equations based on the fundamental physical principle of conservation. Recent decades have brought significant success in the theoretical understanding of the method. Many finite volume methods preserve further qualitative or asymptotic properties, including maximum principles, dissipativity, monotone decay of free energy, and asymptotic stability. Due to these properties, finite volume methods belong to the wider class of compatible discretization methods, which preserve qualitative properties of continuous problems at the discrete level. This structural approach to the discretization of partial differential equations becomes particularly important for multiphysics and multiscale applications. Researchers, PhD and masters level students in numerical analysis, scientific computing and related fields such as partial differential equations will find this volume useful, as will engineers working in numerical modeling and simulations.
