What would you put on the line for what you believe in? For Chris Bertish, the answer is everything. ALL IN!
In 2017 Chris became the first person ever to stand-up paddleboard across any ocean. Defying all odds, he paddled 7500 kilometers solo, unassisted and unsupported, for 93 days across the Atlantic Ocean, from Morocco, Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean. During three months at sea he was targeted by a great white shark, towed by a giant sea squid, capsized multiple times and surfed down 10-meter waves as challenging as anything he had faced in any Mavericks Big Wave Surfing Championships.
Too many times he found himself hanging on the edge of his modified SUP for dear life. He also become one with the elements, and ultimately succeeded in doing something everyone said was simply impossible.
This is the story of his incredible journey.

Nature sports such as skiing, climbing, and surfing have had a
significant influence on Western popular culture since the
mid-twentieth century and participation in such sports continues to
grow. Written in a clear and accessible style, this important book
provides a comprehensive philosophical analysis of nature sports.
Philosophy and Nature Sports offers an engaging inquiry into how
nature sports differ from mainstream sports, how these differences
are related to their value as human activities, and the role of the
environments in which such sports take place. Addressing the claim
that the most distinctive feature of nature sports is the
relationship between participants and the natural world, the book
also examines a wide range of topics, such as ethics, risk, gender
construction, the social role of nature sport subcultures and the
aesthetic experiences of nature sports athletes. Tying these
together is the question of what it is that attracts us to nature
sports and why they hold meaning for us. This is a valuable
resource for students and academics in fields such as alternative
sports, alternative sport subcultures, sport philosophy, sport and
social issues, ethics, and phenomenology. It is also a fascinating
read for outdoor educators and practitioners.
Dancing on the beach after a swim in the Mediterranean, taking the
waters in fashionable Baden-Baden, boating on the Black Sea - the
myriad uses of water imply that the term itself possesses multiple
meanings. Focusing on Europe, this book addresses how using water
for relaxation intersects with ideas about class, gender,
nationality, and consumption. It also explores the ways Europeans
have turned to water for pleasure, relaxation, and profit over the
last two hundred years as the enjoyment of free time developed from
a privilege into a right. Contributors capture key moments of
social and cultural transition in the nineteenth and twentieth
centuries -- moments during which new social distinctions emerged,
debates about nationalism and cosmopolitanism flourished, concepts
of hygiene became politicized, and attitudes about travel and
vacationing developed.
What kinds of relationships exist between recreational uses of
water and cultural, social, or political practices? How have such
relationships found representation in art, landscaping, or
architecture? Who visits water resorts or beaches and what role
have these places played in the emergence of collective identities
or in lending authority to social distinctions? How does the
organization of leisure activities around water reflect ideas about
purity and pollution, in a moral, social, or physical sense?
This exciting venture into 'uncharted waters' will fascinate
historians, geographers and anyone with a keen interest in European
cultural studies, art and landscape.

Harvard University coach and acclaimed rowing author, Dan Boyne,
tells a humorous story of his first year of freshman crew,
including a sub plot of personal redemption against an insufferable
football player who has bullied him throughout high school. After
being accepted at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, Boyne decides to
take up rowing, the only sport that takes place far off campus, on
the adventurous waters of The Connecticut River. There, he quickly
experiences the unique rigors, rewards, and colorful personalities
of the sport, not knowing that his nemesis has decided to try out
for crew, at rival school Coast Guard Academy. As racing season
approaches, Boyne becomes part of an exceptional freshman
lightweight boat, with high hopes to win the National Championships
in Philadelphia that year, but his final fears are realized when he
discovers that his old high school archenemy is also doing well,
and rowing in the very same position as he is-the seven seat.
