This stunning book is the perfect introduction to meditation and
why it is so beneficial and effective in the morning. Studies have
shown that people who develop a morning meditation practice find it
easier to stay focused and energised through the day, are less
likely to reach for unhealthy snacks and are more adept at warding
off stress and anxiety. Included in the book are tips on how to
develop a practice, essential oils to energise you in the morning,
simple breathwork, stretches and focus journaling as well as good
morning tea blends. The meditations included are designed to
encourage clarity and energy for the day ahead, with weekend
morning meditations to help let go of the past week and explore
bigger questions. Mantras are included to help bring awareness to
particular words and phrases and set you off on a positive path for
the day ahead. There is also focus on intention setting and an
introduction to guided visualisations for boosting energy, finding
focus and summoning creativity. Meditations include: Awakening Just
for today Radiant light Path to the heart Soaring above Seeds of
intentions Finding the flow Through the eye of the telescope
The Mother of Creation is a universal concept and appears in many
guises: Divine Mother, Holy Spirit, Goddess of Light, Shakti, Mary,
Madonna, etc. This is the divine feminine of the Mother which is
beloved by many. Throughout the ages, artists have recorded their
spiritual visions. Think of great masters like Michelangelo and Da
Vinci. Consider William Blake who was ridiculed in his life but is
now revered. His visions were extraordinary and included Adam and
Eve. They had a basis in truth. The Mother is also portrayed
through many forms of art. But this is not just the religious and
Renaissance art of western civilisation. Sacred art is everywhere.
Music also has a vital role in this renaissance. Sacred music has
evolved through the centuries - from western classical composers to
the mystical traditions of India and the East. Music is a universal
language of passion and feeling. The world is enriched by music in
all its many forms. Art can be combined with music to increase its
appeal to the spiritual self. So that a meditation on the Mother or
Spirit - that combines art and music in this way - may help a
person towards a state of enlightenment. This is an enlightenment
to the Spirit of Truth - the Mother - who is instrumental in the
renaissance of Man. The Spirit is the Helper and Comforter - and
with us forever. So that we can live in the grace of the Spirit.
From the acclaimed author of In Praise of Paths comes a humorous
and modest Walden for modern times. As nature becomes ever more
precious, we all want to spend more time appreciating it. But time
is often hard to come by. And how do we appreciate nature without
disruption? In this sensitively-written book, Torbjorn Ekelund, an
acclaimed Norwegian nature writer, shares a creative and
non-intrusive method for immersing oneself in nature. And the
result is nothing short of transformative. Evoking Henry David
Thoreau and the four-season structure of Walden, Ekelundwrites
about communing with nature by repeating a small, simple ritual and
engaging in quiet reflection. At the start of the book, he hatches
a plan: to leave the city after work one day per month, camp near
the same tiny pond in the forest, and return to work the next day.
He keeps this up for a year. His ritual is far from rigorous and it
is never perfect. One evening, he grows so cold in his tent that he
hikes out before daybreak. But as Ekelund inevitably greets the
same trees and boulders each month, he appreciates the banality of
their sameness alongside their quiet beauty. He wonders how long
they have stood silently in this place-and reflects on his own
short existence among them. A Year in the Woods asks us to
reconsider our relationship with the natural world. Are we anxious
wanderers or mindful observers? Do we honor the seasons or let them
pass us by? At once beautifully written, accessible, and engaging,
A Year in the Woods is the perfect book for anyone who longs for a
deeper connection with their environment, but is realistic about
time and ambition.

In the early hours of almost every morning during the Covid
lockdown in the months of March and April 2021, these poems began
mysteriously arriving - like persistent early morning visitors.
Curiously, the author's wife was absent for the whole of this time,
and much to her amusement, in her place lay an open notebook, a
blank page and a pen. Soon nearly 40 poems filled the notebook -
Martin never having written poetry in his life before. Although the
pandemic provides the foreground for this collection of poems, they
have also been prompted by timeless universal themes, symbolised in
a snowdrop, a park bench or an olive tree; found in conversations
about love and life and death, in news items and random images. But
most of all arising out of that deep longing for union and freedom
at the source of each of us. The poems are about what it means to
be alive and deeply connected to the natural world. In so doing
they go to the heart of mindful living and non-dual wisdom

The practice of yoga, hypnosis, and the use of psychedelic drugs
to alter psychological and physiological states is not unknown to
the study of psychology. They have been called "soft" studies and
labeled unimportant. This is mostly because they are difficult to
study and understand, often focusing on unobservable internal
states such as altered states of consciousness, Samadhi, or
hypnotic states. This book, in its approach to thinking about this
topic and method for analysis, focuses only on phenomena that can
be observed, such as behavioral changes.
By centering on only those aspects of the psychological and
physiological effects of yoga, hypnosis, and psychedelic drugs
which can be measured and analyzed using this new method, Barber
distinguishes this book from others in the field. He asks what
overt behaviors and verbal reports are clearly observable when
psychedelic drugs are taken, yoga is practiced, or
hypnotic-induction procedures are administered. Instead of treating
the phenomena traditionally associated with psychedelic drugs,
yoga, or hypnosis as undifferentiated conglomerates, an attempt
will be made to set apart and treat separately each of the many
phenomena associated with each of these areas of inquiry.
This book does not set out to simply demonstrate the importance
of psychedelics, yoga, and hypnosis, or to present substantive
material pertaining to these topics. It also treats each topic as
continuous with other known psychological phenomena and as an
important piece to the puzzle of social psychology. It differs from
most previous treatises in that it does not assume that
psychedelics, yoga, and hypnosis can bring out unused mental or
physical capacities in man, heighten awareness or give rise to
enhanced creativity, or produce altered states of consciousness,
suspension of conventional reality-orientation, changes in
body-image, or changes in perception.
