A large number of volumes have been produced summarizing the work on generation and control of rhythmic movements, in particular locomotion. Unfortunately most of them focus on locomotor studies done on animals. This edited volume redresses that imbalance by focusing completely on human locomotor behaviour. The very nature of the problem has both necessitated and attracted researchers from a wide variety of disciplines ranging from psychology, neurophysiology, kinesiology, engineering, medicine to computer science. The different and unique perspectives they bring to this problem provide a comprehensive picture of the current state of knowledge on the generation and regulation of human locomotor behaviour. A common unifying theme of this volume is studying the adaptability of human gait to obtain insights into the control of locomotion. This volume contains contributions illuminating much of the current research occurring in the area of visual perception. It encompasses all aspects of vision and its relationship to vehicle design, including both the internal and external design of the vehicle as well as the perceptual and cognitive limitations of the vehicle controller. Issues specifically related to the vision of the driver are initially addressed and the problems of vehicle glazing and light transmission are considered. Due to the limited number of sensors available on the digital cameras, the quality of images captured is also limited. Factors such as optical or atmospheric blur and sensor noise can also contribute further to the d- radation of image quality. Super-Resolution is an image reconstruction technique that enhances a sequence of low-resolution images or video frames by increasing the spatial resolution of the images. Each of these low-resolution images contain only incomplete scene information and are geometrically warped, aliased, and - der-sampled. Super-resolution technique intelligently fuses the incomplete scene information from several consecutive low-resolution frames to reconstruct a hi- resolution representation of the original scene. In the last decade, with the advent of new technologies in both civil and mi- tary domain, more computer vision applications are being developed with a demand for high-quality high-resolution images. In fact, the demand for high- resolution images is exponentially increasing and the camera manufacturing te- nology is unable to cope up due to cost efficiency and other practical reasons.

The interest in 'biomarkers' seen across a spectrum of biomedical disciplines reflects the rise of molecular biology and genetics. A host of 'omics' disciplines in addition to genomics, marked by multidimensional data and complex analyses, and enabled by bioinformatics, have pushed the trajectory of biomarker development even further. They have also made more tractable the complex mappings of genotypes to phenotypes - genome-to-phenome mapping - to which the concept of a biomarker is central. Genomic investigations of the brain are beginning to reveal spectacular associations between genes and neural systems. Neural and cognitive phenomics are considered a necessary complement to genomics of the brain. Other major omics developments such as connectomics, the comprehensive mapping of neurons and neural networks, are heralding brain maps of unprecedented detail. Such developments are defining a new era of brain science. And in this new research environment, neural systems and cognitive operations are pressed for new kinds of definitions - that facilitate brain-behavioral alignment in an omics operating environment. Consciousness is one of the major unsolved problems in science. How do the feelings and sensations making up conscious experience arise from the concerted actions of nerve cells and their associated synaptic and molecular processes?
