Motion Coordination for VTOL Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - Attitude Synchronisation and Formation Control (Hardcover, 2013 ed.):... Motion Coordination for VTOL Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - Attitude Synchronisation and Formation Control (Hardcover, 2013 ed.)
Abdelkader Abdessameud, Abdelhamid Tayebi
R4,121 R3,320 Discovery Miles 33 200 Save R801 (19%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Motion Coordination for VTOL Unmanned Aerial Vehicles develops new control design techniques for the distributed coordination of a team of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles. In particular, it provides new control design approaches for the attitude synchronization of a formation of rigid body systems. In addition, by integrating new control design techniques with some concepts from nonlinear control theory and multi-agent systems, it presents a new theoretical framework for the formation control of a class of under-actuated aerial vehicles capable of vertical take-off and landing. Several practical problems related to the systems' inputs, states measurements, and restrictions on the interconnection topology between the aerial vehicles in the team are addressed. Worked examples with sufficient details and simulation results are provided to illustrate the applicability and effectiveness of the theoretical results discussed in the book. The material presented is primarily intended for researchers and industrial engineers from robotics, control engineering and aerospace communities. It also serves as a complementary reading for graduate students involved in research related to flying robotics, aerospace, control of under-actuated systems, and nonlinear control theory

Over that past decade, the growth of GPS and other navigation systems has been staggering. More and more electrical engineers are migrating towards work in this field and require knowledge of important GNSS (global navigation satellite system) principles. That's why Artech House decided the time was right to put this classic Prentice Hall title back into print. Although technology has progressed at a remarkable pace in the decade and a half since its publication, the principles of navigation systems described in this book are immutable. In fact, the book presents the engineering basics so well that practicing engineers and students have been scouring the Internet looking for used copies. Finally, this essential resource will be readily available, providing authoritative guidance on everything from the fundamentals of terrestrial navigation, error calculations, and direction finding...to satellite orbits and geometry, satellite navigation principles, and spread spectrum. Moreover, the book provides concise descriptions of key navigation systems developed decades ago that are still widely in use - information that is extremely hard to find.

Automotive Painting Technology - A Monozukuri-Hitozukuri Perspective (Hardcover, 2013 ed.): Kimio Toda, Abraham Salazar, Kozo... Automotive Painting Technology - A Monozukuri-Hitozukuri Perspective (Hardcover, 2013 ed.)
Kimio Toda, Abraham Salazar, Kozo Saito
R4,933 Discovery Miles 49 330 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book offers unique and valuable contributions to the field. It offers breadth and inclusiveness. Most existing works on automotive painting cover only a single aspect of this complex topic, such as the chemistry of paint or paint booth technology. Monozukuri and Hitozukuri are Japanese terms that can be translated as "making things" and "developing people" but their implications in Japanese are richer and more complex than this minimal translation would indicate. The Monozukuri-Hitozukuri perspective is drawn from essential principles on which the Toyota approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement is based. From this perspective, neither painting technology R&D nor painting technology use in manufacturing can be done successfully without integrating technological and human concerns involved with making and learning in the broadest sense, as the hyphen is meant to indicate. The editors provide case studies and examples -- drawn from Mr. Toda's 33 years of experience with automotive painting at Toyota and from Dr. Saito's 18 years experience with IR4TD, the research-for-development group he leads at the University of Kentucky -- that give details on how these two principles can be integrated for successful problem-solving and innovation in industry, in university R&D, and in the collaboration between the two. The book will bring readers up to date on progress in the field over the last decade to provide a basis for and to indicate fruitful directions in future R&D and technology innovation for automotive painting.

Trajectory Anomalies in Interplanetary Spacecraft - A Method for Determining Accelerations Due to Thermal Emissions and New... Trajectory Anomalies in Interplanetary Spacecraft - A Method for Determining Accelerations Due to Thermal Emissions and New Mission Proposals (Hardcover, 2015 ed.)
Frederico Francisco
R2,653 Discovery Miles 26 530 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This thesis presents fundamental work that explains two mysteries concerning the trajectory of interplanetary spacecraft. For the first problem, the so-called Pioneer anomaly, a wholly new and innovative method was developed for computing all contributions to the acceleration due to onboard thermal sources. Through a careful analysis of all parts of the spacecraft Pioneer 10 and 11, the application of this methodology has yielded the observed anomalous acceleration. This marks a major achievement, given that this problem remained unsolved for more than a decade. For the second anomaly, the flyby anomaly, a tiny glitch in the velocity of spacecraft that perform gravity assisting maneuvers on Earth, no definitive answer is put forward; however a quite promising strategy for examining the problem is provided and a new mission is proposed. The proposal largely consists in using the Galileo Navigational Satellite System to track approaching spacecraft, and in considering a small test body that approaches Earth from a highly elliptic trajectory.
