Luc Besson directs this biopic about Burmese pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi, played in the film by Michelle Yeoh. Suu Kyi spent almost 15 years under house arrest for leading a non-violent uprising against Burma's long-standing military dictatorship. With the unwavering support of her husband, Oxford academic Michael Aris (David Thewlis), Suu Kyi sacrifices the peace and security of family life in England to lead the struggle to bring democracy to her native country, and put an end to the violence, corruption and human rights abuses that have come to characterise Burmese politics.

Like Orwell's novel '1984', which it echoes, the future is seen from a 1940's perspective. Jonathan Pryce stars, with Robert De Niro making a cameo appearance as an excessively diligent sewage inspector.

Academy Award-nominated documentary detailing the horrors of the Cambodian genocide which occurred under the Pol Pot dictatorship of the late-1970s. Using clay animation as a way of illustrating the undocumented experience of the common people, film-maker Rithy Panh tells the story of how he and his family were taken from their home in the city and forced to work in rural labour camps as part of the Khmer Rouge's social engineering policies. Not only did Panh witness first-hand a number of atrocities, including routine executions and widespread malnutrition, as a result, his own father starved himself to death as a way of protesting against the regime. The movie received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

Recorded live at the Leipzig Opera, in June 2005, choreographer Uwe Scholz's work is set to music by Mozart, Thomas John, Gyorgy Kurtag and Arvo Pärt. Balazs Kocsar conducts the Gewandhausorchester with dance performances by Kiyoko Kimura, Christoph Böhm and Oksana Kulchytska.

US Ambassador Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) is persuaded to substitute a newborn baby whose mother has died in childbirth for his own stillborn son. By the age of five the child, Damien, seems to be exerting a malevolent influence on the Thorn household, suffering a violent fit when he is taken to church and causing his nanny to hang herself. Thorn searches for an answer to his son's behaviour and meets maverick priest Father Brennan (Patrick Troughton), who tries to convince him that Damien is in fact the Antichrist and must be stopped at all costs. The Ambassador at first dismisses this as the crazy rantings of a religious maniac, but subsequent events suggest that maybe the priest had a point.

Jo Harding (Helen Hunt) leads a team of scientists who are set to launch a contraption that can retrieve information from the eye of tornadoes. Bill (Bill Paxton), the inventor of the machine and Jo's ex-husband, arrives with his new fiancée Melissa just as a major storm is about to hit the area. Unable to resist the call of the wind, Bill rejoins his team in a dangerous chase after the mother of all tornadoes: the F5.

This 1960s Italian drama stars Monica Vitti and Richard Harris and marks director Michelangelo Antonioni's first venture into colour film. Guiliana (Vitti) becomes mentally unstable after being in a car accident but tries to keep her condition from her husband, Ugo (Carlo Chionetti). Lonely, she begins to open up to Ugo's business associate, Corrado (Harris), and they gradually become closer as they spend more time together. Meanwhile, she suffers setbacks that only seem to add to her feeling of isolation.

Tony Scott-directed action thriller starring Denzel Washington as John Creasy, a jaded former CIA agent hired by a wealthy Mexican family to act as bodyguard to their ten-year-old daughter Lupita (Dakota Fanning). Initially reluctant to take on such a lowly position, Creasy becomes increasingly fond of his charge as she asks him questions about his life and he begins to open up to her and discover a tenderness long missing from his own life. But his newfound equilibrium is shattered when the girl is kidnapped, and he vows to find the men responsible and bring them to his own form of rough justice. The film is a re-make of the 1987 film starring Scott Glenn as Creasy, also based on the A.J. Quinnell novel.

Marcus Vinicius (Robert Taylor), a commander in the army, returns to the city and falls in love with a Christian girl called Lygia (Deborah Kerr). However, as he is a pagan, she rejects his suit and refuses to have anything to do with him. Meanwhile, Nero (Peter Ustinov) burns down the city, blames it on the Christians, and prepares to feed them to the lions.
