John Carpenter directs this tense remake of the classic Howard Hawks western 'Rio Bravo'. Set in modern-day Los Angeles, it concerns a mob of crazy guerilla gunmen who lay siege to a soon-to-be-closed police station, trapping a single cop (Austin Stoker) and a couple of secretaries (Laurie Zimmer and Nancy Loomis) inside. The gunmen unleash wave upon wave of attacks on the beleaguered station, but the cop proves himself a resourceful foe.

Paul Newman and Sidney Poitier star as two American ex-pat jazz musicians struggling for success in Paris in this 1960s US drama. Trombone player Ram Bowen and saxophonist Eddie Cook (Newman and Poitier) moved to the French capital for its love of jazz and its liberal acceptance of black people, in contrast to their own country's hostile attitudes. When the pair fall in love with Americans tourists Connie and Lillian (Diahann Carroll and Joanne Woodward), Ram and Eddie are forced to decide whether to move back home with them or stay in Paris.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future where most of Earth's water has disappeared and the planet is ruled by the Eco Protectorate corporation, the story follows a group of teen skateboarders who are held captive in an orphanage on the desert planet. After the group's leader Grock (Jordan) discovers a magical orb, the teenagers rebel against their megalomaniac ruler and, with the help of a group of outlaws known as the Eco Warriors, try to restore water to the Earth.

Ken Russell directs this biographical drama starring Rudolf Nureyev as Italian-American actor Rudolph Valentino. The film begins at the 31-year-old actor's funeral in 1926 in New York and, using flashbacks, backtracks to his glory days when the former ballroom dancer used his good looks and charm to mould a successful silent movie career and become one of the first male screen idols in Hollywood.

Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as an undercover cop in this action feature. Renegade cop Louis Burke (Van Damme) poses as a prison inmate in order to investigate a series of suspicious murders in the maximum-security Harrison Penitentiary in California.
