How can teenagers learn to decide when taking a risk is worth it?
When brother and sister Jimmy and Carly find a scared, wounded, and

decisions. Teenage readers will close the decision-making fable
"Taming Chaos" equipped to tackle difficult life choices with
confidence. "Taming Chaos" is a fable for teenage students,
teaching a step-by-step system for facing life's big---and
small---decisions with confidence and a calm mind. When life throws
challenges at you, you need to know when to swing and when to duck.
Join Carly and Jimmy on a journey into life's most challenging
uncertainties.
Life skills is a critically important subject to teach at the
Foundation Phase level as it is at this unique time in young
learners' development that an important grounding for later life
can be established. Never will teachers have a better opportunity
to shape learners' knowledge, skills and values and to prepare them
for the challenges of being a citizen of the 21st century. Focusing
attention towards the Africanising of the Foundation Phase Life
Skills curriculum, this book addresses the ways in which teachers
can structure their inclusive classroom practices to match the
fundamental elements of social responsibility and human development
in order to support learners' holistic development, both as
citizens of South Africa and participants in a global community.
Teaching Life Skills in the Foundation Phase is based on sound
pedagogical principles, providing many practical ideas to
Foundation Phase teachers and student teachers (grades R-3). For
easy reference between classroom practice and formal studies, this
book is structured according to the CAPS Foundation Phase
curriculum and focuses on the following knowledge areas: Beginning
knowledge (the teaching of natural sciences, technology and social
sciences); Creative arts education (the teaching of visual and
performing arts); Physical education (movement); Personal and
social wellbeing (addressing social issues such as sexuality
education, health education, violence and abuse); Teaching Life
Skills in the Foundation Phase is aimed at teachers, school
managers and parents.
School can be a frustrating and confusing experience for children
who have not developed their communication skills. not only will

co-operative skills and friendships. This book has been developed
to teach and develop oral language and social interaction skills to
children aged 4-6. Containing 40 sessions, designed to take place
two to three times a week, the book aims to help teachers to
develop the "rules" of interaction with the help of the character
Ginger the Bear, who features in all the activities. Skills taught
include: eye contact; taking turns; sharing; greetings; awareness
of feelings; giving; following instructions; listening; paying
attention; and play skills. The book should provide a useful

If you are a male approaching adulthood, you might be wondering:
Are you a boy or a man?
You might even hear the question coming from parents, mentors,
your boss or girlfriend. Asking the question is not a bad thing; it
could push you to envision your potential and become a better
person.
Perhaps you are a teacher, parent or counselor struggling to
help someone determine what stage they are at in life. They need
help and guidance, but there just aren't many resources out there
that spell out the difference.
In this book, you'll consider 75 key words that illustrate the
gap. Delve into issues such as trust, truth and pride. You'll
examine what it means to be an adult in ways you never did
before.
It's also important to understand the myths that revolve around
manhood. You don't have to be violent, a playboy or bossy to leave
boyhood behind. Rather, you need the courage to throw away
stereotypes.
Find out the key differences between being a child and an
adult, and determine whether or not you or someone you know is
ready to make the leap in "The Difference Between a Boy and a
Man."

Edmund M Kern argues that the attraction of these stories to
children comes not only from the fantastical elements embedded in
the plots, but also from their underlying moral messages. This
fresh, instructive, and upbeat guide to "Harry Potter" will give
parents many useful and educational suggestions for discussing the
moral implications of this continuously popular series of books

From the best-selling author of How Are You Feeling Today?, this
thoughtful picture book teaches children how to find new ways of
expressing themselves. 'Why am I losing my temper?' 'Why am I being
grumpy?' This important book prompts children to question certain
behaviours and why they happen. Addressing common situations in a
sympathetic and humorous way, What Makes Me Do The Things I Do?
answers key behavioural concerns and encourages children to
self-reflect, consider how their actions affect others and manage
their emotions. This book is ideal for sharing with young children,
or to give to older children to read independently. Written in
child-friendly language, this picture book explores 12 typical
behaviours that children engage in - such as temper tantrums,
telling lies or cheating - and offers 12 constructive behaviours to
consider instead, like staying calm, being honest or playing
fairly. There are fun, colourful illustrations by Sarah Jennings
throughout and helpful notes for parents and carers at the back of
the book, with tips for encouraging positive behaviour early on.
The volume brings together an outstanding group of international
scholars from the field of peace/co-existence education and
education for social cohesion to build understanding of the impact
of sustained educational efforts towards peace, co-existence and
reconciliation in countries emerging from protracted conflict. It
explores the impact of innovative long term methods of pursuing
peace and reconciliation such as the creation of integrated schools
and/or policy whose central aim is the celebration of diversity and
rejection of prejudice in countries where prolonged interracial or
interethnic conflict has scarred society.

Story Behind the Book
"Beginning my freshman year in college, God began drawing my heart
to His. That spring, I trusted Christ as Lord and Savior and
latched on to His journey. As an avid reader and eager Christian, I
anxiously sought any material on faith-related topics. More
specifically, I was craving material from people in my stage of
life. It became quickly apparent, however, that collegiate voices
had been overlooked, or at least left untold. This seemed a
dangerous void. So with God's provision, I setout to write a book
that would tell the stories of common struggles Christians face in
college everywhere. Thus began the vision of "Can You Keep Your
Faith in College." " -- Abbie Smith
