Available in A5, A4 & A3 sizes. The Fabriano Classico 5 paper is 300gsm, mould-made, 50% cotton, surface sized, acid-free and has a Hot Press (satinata) finish. The Fat Pad is spiral wire bound on the short edge with 25 sheets per pad. This high quality Italian watercolour paper is often recommended in art magazines by members of the Royal Society of Botanical Artists. The smooth, strong white surface makes it the most popular pad for botanical art and illustration. The paper is also available in full sheets. Fabriano 5 paper has changed permanently because of changes to the machine used to produce it. The surface texture is a bit less smooth and the sizing has changed slightly. The manufacturer does not believe the change is significant, they feel the paper is still within their allowed parameters. But a number of artists have found the change significant enough that it interferes with their work. They are usually artists who make very precise work and need to be able to control fine lines, so most often are botanical artists using watercolour or coloured pencil.

Cold Press/ ’Not' surface - slightly textured surface. It is the most popular surface for watercolour painters as it allows for a little texture in your work. Clairefontaine Pastelmat Pastel Board allows you to broaden your working surface as it is rigid enough that it can be supported by an easel. It is also much easier to frame your work using the Pastel Board. The board features the well loved 360gsm acid-free Pastelmat paper which has then been bonded onto a 1.8mm board. The board is acid-free and has a white core.

Pastelmat is a premium card surface (360gsm / 170lb) specially developed for pastelists. Its unique velvety surface, made from a fine coating of cellulose fibers, has the ability to grab and hold multiple layers of even the softest pastels. Pastelmat significantly reduces the need for fixative, which means that colors remain vibrant and fresh once applied. It has the added bonus of being gentle on both fingers and blending tools. It is acid free and lightfast. Pastelmat is ideal for use with all dry media - pastel sticks, PanPastel, pencils and charcoal. It is also water resistant which means that it can be used with wet media – such as acrylics and watercolor for washes and mixed media techniques. Botanical Ultra Smooth is 300gsm, mould made from 50% cotton and is acid free and calcium carbonate buffered. The absence of acid guarantees excellent permanence and resistance to ageing. The colour is a very close match to Fabriano 5, and it does contain optical brighteners to give a bright white colour. Hahnemuhle Velour is an artist-quality 260gsm pastel paper which is both acid-free and archival. It is composed of an acid-free backing sheet which has been coated with inert synthetic fibres. This gives the surface a velvety feel which has sufficient tooth to hold soft pastel, as well as oil pastel, charcoal or soft pencils.Because Velour can hold a lot of pastel, it is perfect for painterly pastel artists who create works with soft edges.This is a single sheet of Hahnemuhle Velour, measuring 50x70cm in the colour Sand.
