The machinery normally used to make paper uses alot of energy, turning paper pulp into a giant roll of perfectly dry paper in barely a minute. Our handmade papers however are made from recycled cotton, they are individuallyset into the moulds and then dried slowly in the Indian sun. The water used in the production is then run off to irrigate the field neighbouring the factory. These papers are alsomade in special small moulds which allows us to produce beautiful deckle edged sheets in 1/4 & 1/2 imperial sizes. All papers are available at an unbeatable price!
1/4 and 1/2 sheets are deckled on all four sides of the 140lb & 200lb papers.

Fabriano Classico watercolour paper in Fat Pads

The Fabriano Classico 5 paper is 300gsm, mould-made, 50% cotton, surface sized, acid-free and has a Hot Press (satinata) finish. The Fat Pad is spiral wire bound on the short edge with 25 sheets per pad. This high quality Italian watercolour paper is often recommended in art magazines by members of the Royal Society of Botanical Artists. The smooth, strong white surface makes it the most popular pad for botanical art and illustration.

Fabriano 5 paper has changed permanently because of changes to the machine used to produce it. The surface texture is a bit less smooth and the sizing has changed slightly. The manufacturer does not believe the change is significant, they feel the paper is still within their allowed parameters. But a number of artists have found the change significant enough that it interferes with their work. They are usually artists who make very precise work and need to be able to control fine lines, so most often are botanical artists using watercolour or coloured pencil.

Fabriano Academia drawing paper is made of high quality lignin free and acid free cellulose, guaranteeing long conservation over time. Produced with 100% of E.C.F. pulp (Elemental Chlorine Free), F.S.C. certified (©1996 Forest Stewardship Council A.C.) from forests responsibly managed respectful of environmental, social and economic standards.
