Jervis Sharp Zimmerman was born in Harvey, Illinois in 1922. He graduated from the University of Illinois with High Honors in English and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Thereafter he prepared for the Christian ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and was ordained in 1945 by the Presbytery of Chicago. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in counseling psychology at the University of Chicago. In 1953, after studying at Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut he was ordained deacon and priest by the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut in which he continues serving. From 1954 to l967 he was Rector of Christ Church, West Haven, Connecticut where Oliver Prescott served in l866 and l867. It was this fact which sparked the author's interest in Prescott which led to this biography. Prescott was an early and ardent advocate for the Catholic revival in the Episcopal Church. As a priest he was in constant difficulty with his bishop, both for his doctrine and his liturgical usage. With his protege, Charles Grafton, he was an early member of the Society of St.John the Evangelist, the first modern monastic community for men in the Church of England.

I wonder what the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at Jacob's Well was like. What were the circumstances that led to her being there, drawing water in the heat of the day? The New Testament does not give us much background on the people involved in some of the familiar stories. This book brings those characters to life by letting the reader imagine what their life might have been like. Consider Joseph as a man wondering how he got himself into a situation where he and his pregnant wife were traveling to Bethlehem. What happened at the birth of Jesus from the perspective of another guest in the Inn? Did the jailer in Philippi have a son? If he did, how might he have viewed the events that happened while Paul was a prisoner? A Centurion had a servant who was ill. What was the relationship between the Centurion and the servant? How did the Centurion happen to get sent to Galilee? These stories take New Testament stories as a starting place and consider a different possibility. They will challenge you to think again about the people who might have met Jesus in person.
Are you one of the chosen? Scripture states that "many are called but few are chosen" (Matthew 22:14). - Abraham was chosen. - Samuel was chosen. - Deborah was chosen. - King David was chosen. - Queen Esther was chosen. - John the Baptist was chosen. - Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was chosen. - Paul was chosen. The chosen can be found throughout the Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelations, along with countless others who have been chosen for this generation. These individuals are relentless, driven, and in hot pursuit of the glory of God, desiring only to fulfill the will of God. Have you been called and chosen for your generation? Have you been chosen to carry the end-time anointing and do exploits in Jesus' name? If your answer is yes, then add your name to the list of the chosen. "But ye are a chosen generation ..." (I Peter 2:9).

Are you locked up, locked out, and pressured by the way the governing powers are forcing their will on you? Are you fed up with where the circumstances of life are taking you? Are you feeling the pressure of the cares and uncertain security in the society in which you live? God, our heavenly Father, has a plan to rescue you from this evil world in which you live (Galatians 1:4). There is another kingdom that God has prepared for those who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. In this kingdom, it is possible to live in peace, above the cares of life. Many today are searching for answers to the weary life and present-day pressures. The purpose of Jesus' coming was to give every believer a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10). Here, Dr. Lewis seeks to introduce you to God's fundamental nature, qualities, attributes, and characteristics, and the ability of the believer, under the power of the Holy Spirit, to live by the precepts of His kingdom and overcome the works of darkness.

"A Glimpse of Glory is a wonderful testament to God's love and promises from one who experienced death-only reluctantly returning to life as we know it from the hereafter. The author wipes away the trepidation even Christians feel toward death and an inkling of what comes next while sharing his own humble beginnings, rugged upbringing and experiences. Rick East is the real deal and has a great message in his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and what he believes God wants him to share with as many as possible. This story is first rate with a vivid emotional impact and obviously has God's blessing." -Nick Weyland, fellow author and Christian brother A Glimpse of Glory A mysterious illness caused Rick East to lapse into respiratory failure the afternoon of December 25, 2012. Rick discovered his spirit was in heaven and was being coached by the Holy Spirit. Rick saw the city of heaven and had many conversations with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit answered questions that have puzzled Christians for years.
