Spike Milligan plays McGonagall, an unemployed weaver who decides to devote his life to poetry. He falls in love with Queen Victoria (Peter Sellers) and dedicates his work to her, despite a distinct lack of interest on her part and talent on his.

New York vegetable wholesaler Allen Bauer (Tom Hanks) meets and falls in love with the beautiful Madison (Daryl Hannah), but problems arise from her somewhat fishy behaviour. For Madison is actually a mermaid, any contact with water returning her to her aquatic form. Her attempts to come to grips with life on terra ferma are further complicated by a group of government scientists, who are eager to reel her into their observation tank.

Tim Burton directs the story of one of Hollywood's worst film directors, Ed Wood. Setting up shop in Tinseltown with plenty of enthusiasm but no discernible talent, Wood (Johnny Depp) is undeterred when his debut feature, cross-dressing drama 'Glen or Glenda' (in which he also stars) is a flop. He goes on to make 'Bride of the Monster', also a commercial and creative disaster, with ailing horror star Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau), before embarking on his most grandiose scheme yet: 'Plan 9 from Outer Space'. Martin Landau won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the morphine-addicted Lugosi.

Liza Minnelli, Burt Reynolds and Gene Hackman star in this comedy drama set in Prohibition-era America. Young widow Claire (Minnelli) joins rum-runners Walker (Reynolds) and Kibby (Hackman) on their boat, the Lucky Lady, off the coast of San Diego to help with their liquor smuggling operation. But the trio's romantic peace is disturbed by an angry Coast Guard captain and the mafia, who send out hitman McTeague (John Hillerman) to deal with the small-timers who are infringing on their business operations.

Nick Frost stars in the title role of this comedy drama written and directed by Robert B. Weide. Set in Watford in 1969, Mr Sloane is a down on his luck accountant who has recently been fired from his job, left by his wife and even failed by a badly executed suicide attempt. To make amends with his client, Martin has to travel to Grosse Pointe and take out a Federal witness. This trip coincides with his high school reunion, so Martin meets up with his former sweetheart Debi (Minnie Driver), unaware that he is being tailed by two government agents and Felix, another rival assassin who is out for his blood.
