This book has been in the making since my days at Ahmadu Bello
University Zaria, in the Faculty of Education. I had always wanted
to produce a book that is small and easy enough to read and yet
succinct to meet the needs of the undergraduate or graduate
students in Education who are preparing for their sessional exams
The book has undergone considerable revisions to meet that target
goal. In part these revisions have been necessitated by the
geometric increase in our knowledge of general psychology, as well
as science, in the last two decades. This is to say nothing of the
psychology of learning. The increase in our knowledge- base has
further been doubled by the new technology of the Internet. Some
have even argued that, the availability of the Internet has
rendered the publishing of such books redundant. However, I'm
convinced that books would continue to play a central role in our
lives for the foreseeable future. I had wanted to include most of
the material that psychologists subsume under the heading of
learning. I have tried to include important topics as well as new
developments in the field that I believe an undergraduate student
will find useful. Also included are "cultural Implications," which
are applications of the general topic in a classroom setting in the
relevant culture.
This book (hardcover) is part of the TREDITION CLASSICS. It
contains classical literature works from over two thousand years.
Most of these titles have been out of print and off the bookstore
shelves for decades. The book series is intended to preserve the
cultural legacy and to promote the timeless works of classical
literature. Readers of a TREDITION CLASSICS book support the
mission to save many of the amazing works of world literature from
oblivion. With this series, tredition intends to make thousands of
international literature classics available in printed format again
- worldwide.
Rajah Khetarpal was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1983 and
raised in Brookline, Massachusetts. During his childhood, Rajah
began to face a very debilitating mental condition called
obsessive-compulsive disorder. From that point, he suffered
drastically throughout all of his young life. As a grown man
however, Rajah is now more determined than ever to beat his mental
disorder. It is a war for his life. Rajah is now dedicated to
figuring out a way to combat his OCD and live with a sense of
well-being. Through faith and spirituality, Rajah Khetarpal shares
the tools and knowledge necessary to live well with OCD.
Who among us has not experienced "failure"? Rebounding is about the
process of rediscovering, reinventing, and recovering yourself in
the face of a personal or professional setback or failure. It is
about learning how to suck the juice out of a lemon and turn it
into lemonade, picking yourself up, dusting yourself off, and
moving on with the business of living at hand...emerging even
stronger, wiser, and with more confidence than before We all have a
unique set of experiences, talents, and gifts - all of which
present opportunities for growth and for unique perspective.
Blending personal experience with practical suggestions for
reengaging, Rebounding presents a perspective that gives one the
space to breathe in the face of a failure and learn how to turn
that liability into one of your greatest assets. With a rare sense
of vulnerability, the author opens up about some of her greatest
challenges and what core beliefs created an ability to experience
an inner resilience that many never talk about. Sharing the failure
of a business, the failure of a marriage, and struggles with her
recent financial reality, she creates in Rebounding a unique chance
to get inside the ebbs and flows of life and examine the real power
of personal choice in the face of adversity. Word Count: 212
This major new series reproduces an authoritative selection of
the most significant articles in different areas of psychology. It
focuses in particular on influential articles which are not found
in other similar colelctions.
Many of these articles are only available in specialized
journals and therfore are not accessible in every library. This
landmark series will make a contribution to scholarship and
teaching in psychology. It will imorove access to important areas
of literature which are difficult to locate, even in the archives
of many libraries throughout the world.
Important features in each book make the series an essential
research and reference tool, including introductions written by the
individual editors providing a lucid survey of difference branches
of psychology. The pagination of the original articles has been
deliberately retained to facilitate ease of reference. A
comprehensive author and subject index guides the reader instantly
to major and minor topics within the literature. This set presents

The Tourist Experience is complex, intrinsically personal, and
highly emotional. Consequently, it is not easy to understand what
it is that drives us to continue to travel, and to return to places
visited. It is important for all sides of the travel, tourism, and
hospitality industries to understand what tourists are searching
for as well as what they experience, with emotions playing a
central role. The research outlined in Unravelling Travelling:
Uncovering Tourist Emotions through Autoethnography delves into the
deep, personal, and very subjective emotions experienced while
travelling to foreign places. Taking an autoethnographic approach,
this evocative, reflexive, critical and analytical study uncovers a
range of personal emotional drivers that resonate across
disciplinary boundaries. Examining the development of
autoethnography in the social sciences, where the researchers often
expose deeply personal experiences that cannot be directly
interpreted from an outsider's perspective, Unravelling Travelling
offers an in-depth commentary on the role of autoethnography in the
tourism field. This personal account from author Sue Beeton goes
beyond simple memoir, exposing the practices of researcher, as well
as the methodology employed. Personal travel narratives and poems
not only uncover emotions that may not be evident through other
research approaches, but also by being highly critical of her own
work, Beeton argues the case for and against autoethnography
itself.
The HR chicks have many comical experiences working together. Well,
we think so. She has seen it all and has had to deal with many
unpleasant experiences. She had gotten to a point in her career
where work was just a job. Insert me here. I had experience, but
was not prepared for the environment I had walked in to. I was used
to a more "normal" environment so to speak. But let's be honest, is
normal really any fun anymore? Can you laugh at normal? Write a
book about it? No. I had decided early on I wanted to be involved
in HR or training of some sort. Why I will never know. Something
about the field has always drawn me in. Intrigued me so to speak,
but for this job, thank God I minored in Psychology. The HR chicks
clicked immediately. A mentor relationship was formed and work
became a playground that they both actually enjoyed going to. Well
let me rephrase, it became tolerable. She gave me the knowledge and
know-how to be successful, and I gave her a new perspective and my
wacky view on things to make the environment more enjoyable. Our
stories in this book are crazy, yes. Is it our perspective of the
situation, yes, but remember we are professionals, because WE are
the HR chicks.
"I'm too fat." "I MUST be successful." "I'm scared." "It's because
when I was a kid..." "Daddy is never home." We all have frameworks
we've built for ourselves throughout life. Ways of being. Of
believing. Glasses through which we see life. Whether positive or
negative, they shape our whole being and affect our daily lives.
From being unsatisfied at home or in a relationship, to impressions
left with us from childhood, we constantly live out of lives
through these lenses we create in our mind. In Mindshift, Drs.
Marty Lerman and Samuel Kupper seek to take the reader on an
experiential journey to show how simple changes in perception, a
reworking of the way we see through our own lenses, can create
drastic positive change. Read about how one woman conquered cancer,
how a veteran came home and now lives without the lasting effects
of war, how kids no longer suffer from ADHD, and more. If these
people can create these kinds of changes in their lives with just a
simple shift of the mind, imagine what you could do. Your mind is
powerful. Harness it. Shift.
Originally published in 1922, this early work on Studies in
Psychoanalysis is a fascinating read for anyone interested in the
history of psychoanalysis with much of the information still being
useful and practical today. Many of the earliest books,
particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now
extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing
these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions,
using the original text and artwork.
In this, his third novel, Dr. Milton endeavors to make the titles
possessed by all women Maiden, Mother, Crone discernible. His story
concerns a triad of tensile lives, a trinity of goddesses dipped
from the same hot, whorled gene pool but forged by distinctly
different environments. The result is a cautionary tale replete
with psychological, sociological and mystical insights related to
child abuse, cancer and clairvoyance.
The 'Maiden' precocious and obviously neglected provides the
storyteller's voice. Thwarted in her attempts to gain care and
affection, her abuse is reported with momentous consequences.
When Llyn the 'Mother' is told by two different Oncology experts
"We have nothing more to offer," she retreats to a childhood
belief: High, Mountains are mystical, magical and healing.
In the background a fanatical 'Crone' cruelly and sadistically
cajoles from an unassailable position.
On the journey to the summit of the highest mountain in North
America Alaska's mighty Mt Denali extraordinary triumphs, dreadful
disasters and intense meditations on mortality are revealed.
Throughout the story, explanations are disclosed, which ache with a
wisdom that can only be understood by those who have "been there"
and earned the right.
Dr. Robert Milton is a graduate of the University of Southern
California's Clinical Psychology program. He has authored six books
including three novels available on Amazon.com
While his world travels and interests reveal a kaleidoscope of
themes, his curiosity recently led him to neuro-science and
religion, particularly mysticism, which is touched upon in this
novel and his recent non-fiction book Your FLEXXIBLE Brain
published last year. Currently he lives in Southern California with
his dog, an Ozzy Shepherd, named Mr. Dugan. He can be contacted at

It is estimated that as many as fifty percent of patients initially
diagnosed with major Unipolar depression (UP, MDD) will
subsequently incur a manic episode or discover a past subtle
episode and will have had Bipolar depression rather than MDD. The
average Bipolar individual suffers with episodic symptoms for ten
years before receiving an accurate diagnosis. As many as 16 million
individuals in the United States will have a Bipolar episode in
their lives, diagnosed or not. With the recognition of these
growing numbers of patients with a Bipolar Disorder, it is
imperative that patients are diagnosed and treated earlier,
accurately and efficiently. Untreated Bipolar usually gets worse.
Bipolar aims to improve recognition, acceptance, and compliance.
Dr. C. Raymond Lake applies two different approaches ,
comprehensive research and case studies, to the understanding of
Bipolar Disorders, presenting basic, selected Bipolar data
including history, diagnostic criteria, definitions of terms, and
classifications, as well as management and treatment strategies to
help the reader fully comprehend the disorder. In addition, case
studies provide the reader with real-life examples to help increase
recognition of various Bipolar presentations beyond the stark
black-and-white diagnostic criteria of the DSM and ICD.
