MICHAEL BALL What can a diseased brain tell us about being human,
living our own lives better and helping those with dementia get the
best from theirs? When Wendy Mitchell was diagnosed with
young-onset dementia at the age of fifty-eight, her brain was
overwhelmed with images of the last stages of the disease - those
familiar tropes, shortcuts and cliches that we are fed by the
media, or even our own health professionals. But her diagnosis far
from represented the end of her life. Instead, it was the start of
a very different one. Wise, practical and life affirming, What I
Wish People Knew About Dementia combines anecdotes, research and
Wendy Mitchell's own brilliant wit and wisdom to tell readers
exactly what she wishes they knew about dementia.

Examining all the major research data since the 1940s, this book
challenges two orthodox medical models: HIV as the cause of AIDS,
and random genetic mutations as the cause of cancer. Based on the
recent findings from Evolutionary Biology and Nitric Oxide
research, it presents a fundamentally new understanding of the
human cell, its double genome split between the cell nucleus and
the mitochondria, and the role of energy production and signal
modulation for immune reactions and carcinogenesis. Finally, it
explains the concept of a new Cell Symbiosis Therapy[registered]
for the treatment of all chronic diseases, including cancer. Now
available in English for the first time, this book is a must-read
for doctors, patients and anyone following the cutting edge of
biology and immunology. With the blasting open of such doors of
knowledge, the medical world will never again be the same.
Drinking has become recognized as one of the most important
problems facing today's college student. Even though college
drinking has increased only modestly over the past few decades,
concern about its health, behavioral, and safety consequences has
risen rapidly. This book examines college drinking as a social
problem within higher education, based on interviews with many
leading figures engaged in addressing the problem. It explains how
high-risk drinking is defined, and assesses the evidence about how
many students are binge drinkers and what kinds of behavioral and
health problems they have as a consequence. The book also answers
the crucial questions of why students binge drink and what mixture
of personal and environmental factors produce binge drinking. The
complex links to campus crime and sexual assault are discussed
fully. Key practical questions about effective prevention programs
and countermeasures are discussed in detail. Students and parents
can take action to lower the risk of binge drinking by following
the book's recommendations and by consulting its appendix, which
explains how to use institutional data about alcohol violations and
crime, which is available for several thousand colleges. Likewise,
administrators, trustees, and faculty will find a full discussion
of the scope of the problem and what can be done about it.

Professor Eisenberg brings to this book four decades of studying,
teaching, and writing about various aspects of interpersonal
communication. One reviewer's description was, "Eisenberg is not
dull " Readers of his other books regard his writing style as
conversational and not beleaguered by technical jargon.
Aside from addressing the conventional issues that currently bog
down healthcare communication, he exploits some less typical issues
such as pseudoaffective communication, somatotyping, appellations,
clinical musicology, genderlect, and territoriality. Healthcare
providers reading this book should come away with an expanded and
more inclusive perspective on how practitioners can enrich their
interpersonal skills.
The motivational parts of my life are provided here in unique
fashion. I hope it touches others like it has touched me. A Note To
Quote was written to entertain and encourage at several levels.
First, there is the obvious enjoyment of reading the poetry. The
rhyming is used to create expected rhythm. Second, some words that
may not be well understood are underlined. Then, below the poem
these underlined words are explained. This makes them readily
available. This gives the reader a better understanding of the poem
and it offers a chance to expand vocabulary. For example, the word
contemplation would be defined under the poem as continuous
consideration of victory. This is designed as a fun educational
characteristic. Third, after the reader has read the poem and
thought about its meaning, the author's inspiration is discussed
below the poem for interest. This is the motivational message. A
few may not have discussion but just a note worth quoting. Forth,
motivational thoughts that may be quoted are in italicized and
provide key summaries of the author's opinion. The work is intended
to blend motivation and encouragement with some fun and mystery. is

On March 19, 1995, I was given the most wonderful gift that anyone
could ask. On this day, I was blessed with my daughter, Rachel-Anne
Julia. You really never know how small things are until a gift like
this is given. "Dad" is one of the most honorable titles that you
could be awarded. I have always struggled with making sure that my
daughter always knows that I love her. At first, I worked to make
sure that she would have things, but growing up along side my
daughter has opened my eyes. I have come to realize that the one
thing that I can give her, that will last forever, is memories.
Memories of, not only our life together, but the memories of the
struggles and emotions that I had experienced as a young man in the
hopes of helping to guide her. Within this book you will find
quotes and inspirational sayings gathered throughout my life
experiences. At times, you will identify the writings created by
me. Within these personal writings, I have conveyed my emotions, my
feelings, and my love. To my daughter, this book can serve as a
simple guidebook of suggestions and thoughts from her Father. For
those who honor me with their choice to read this, I hope that I
can inspire you.help guide you.and most of all provide some
writings that will help to facilitate your evaluation of your life
and choices. I hope that one can use this book as an inspirational
and uplifting resource. I know that the four years that it took for
me to complete this body of work I was able to evaluate my life by
using some of the readings. I hope that each of you will be able to
utilize this work for your own self-guiding and self-motivating
purpose.
The ROCK of Social Relationships teaches youth and younger adults
about the importance of respect, openness, communication and
kindness in relationships. It uses ROCK as an acrostic for Respect
Openly Communicates Kindness as the theme and bible principles to
teach that importance of these virtues. Christians will find the
book to be helpful for putting Bible based values in their
relationship. Non-Christians will find the principles to be
universal to all relationships. Parents will find it to be helpful
for raising kids. The book uses fun games and creative exercises to
teach how to have good relationships with parents, siblings,
spouses, co-workers, bosses and even casual acquaintances. The goal
is to show how to use ROCK principles to enjoy relationships.
