This overview of prescription drug abuse includes historical
background, key concepts, and discussion of the prevalence of drug
abuse, treatments, and policy issues implicated in ending the
epidemic. Prescription opioid medication abuse has been declared a
national crisis by experts in medicine, substance use, public
health, and pain management, culminating in a declaration made by
the President of the United States that opioid misuse and abuse is
a national health emergency. In this comprehensive text, expert
scholars analyze and address a wide range of issues in, obstacles
to, and potential solutions for this emergency, which caused more
than 50,000 deaths in 2016 alone. It covers a variety of topics
related to prescription misuse from both clinical and academic
perspectives. After an opening containing background material on
the most commonly misused medications, chapters examine subgroups
engaged in misuse and special medical environments where misuse
issues are key. They then cover U.S. policy, perspectives outside
the U.S., and theories that may explain the misuse phenomena. This
book will serve as a resource for students and professionals in
fields related to prescription drug abuse-including psychology,
sociology, medicine, and public policy-and is accessible to
individuals not trained in these fields. Zooms in on legal and
policy issues related to the ongoing opioid epidemic in the U.S.,
providing insight into current and potential actions to limit the

groups of people who abuse prescription drugs, their motivations
for doing so, and the special risks for each Addresses commonly
co-abused drugs and the risks of using them concurrently Includes

Moments tells the story of the heart-wrenching and unforgettable
events that happened in author Steven Wong's life over the past
decade. As part of his philosophy of giving back to society, he has
compiled the details of his journey from a seemingly healthy life
into the throes of a life-threatening disease. The events he
discusses in Moments are based upon his real-life experiences as a
patient. When he finally sought a second opinion after months of
what appeared to influenza, his life was forever changed by the
outcome of the doctor's findings. His story reveals the journey and
challenges that he experienced while battling nasopharyngeal
carcinoma, commonly known as cancer of the throat. He recounts
errors in judgment, missteps that could be avoided, oversights, and
consequences that he had to endure as a patient. He candidly and
poignantly discusses the effect his disease had on his friendships.
In fact, he categorized his friendships into three groups: true
friends, friends, and dubious friends. The hurt he experienced when
he realised that many of his friends could not handle his illness
was deep. His perseverance and determination, along with the love
of family and friends, made this unexpected journey manageable,
bearable, and memorable. Now he seeks to inspire and motivate
others to move forward courageously when faced with challenging
circumstances during their life's journeys.

To make essential oils, it needs to be extracted from the plant.
This can be done through expression and distillation. Expression,
also referred as cold pressing, expression is method used to
extract oils from citrus fruits like lime, orange, tangerine,
lemon, and bergamot. In the past, expression doesn't require any
sorts of tools except for a sponge. After soaking the citrus rind
or zest, it will be pressed against the sponge repeatedly to absorb
the oil. The sponge will then be squeezed over a container to catch
the oils and allow it to separate from its juices. After a few
hours, the oils will be siphoned off and bottled. A modern type of
expression involves using a blender-like device that's equipped
with spikes. Once the citrus zest, rind, or peel is placed into the
device, it will rotate and prod and prick the citrus until the oils
are released. Oil will be collected at the bottom of the device and
bottled immediately.
