Introduces key concepts and debates in health humanities and the
health professions. Keywords for Health Humanities provides a rich,
interdisciplinary vocabulary for the burgeoning field of health
humanities and, more broadly, for the study of medicine and health.
Sixty-five entries by leading international scholars examine
current practices, ideas, histories, and debates around health and
illness, revealing the social, cultural, and political factors that
structure health conditions and shape health outcomes. Presenting
possibilities for health justice and social change, this volume
exposes readers—from curious beginners to cultural analysts, from
medical students to health care practitioners of all fields—to
lively debates about the complexities of health and illness and
their ethical and political implications. A study of the vocabulary
that comprises and shapes a broad understanding of health and the
practices of healthcare, Keywords for Health Humanities guides
readers toward ways to communicate accurately and effectively while
engaging in creative analytical thinking about health and
healthcare in an increasingly complex world—one in which
seemingly straightforward beliefs and decisions about individual
and communal health represent increasingly contested terrain.
Art Therapy in Australia: Taking a Postcolonial, Aesthetic Turn
explores and enacts established and emergent art therapy histories,
narratives and practices in the specific postcolonial context of
contemporary Australia. It is the first published book to attempt
to map this terrain. In doing so, the book aims to document
important aspects of art therapy in Australia, including how
Australian approaches both reiterate and challenge the dominant
discourse of art therapy. This book is as much a performance as an
account of the potential of art therapy to honour alterity,
illuminate possibilities and bear witness to the intrapsychic,
relational and social realms. The book offers a selective window
into the rambling assemblage that is art therapy in the 'Great
Southern Land'. Contributors are: Jan Allen, Bronwyn Davies, Claire
Edwards, Nicolette Eisdell, Patricia Fenner, John Henzell, Pam
Johnston, Lynn Kapitan, Carmen Lawson, Sheridan Linnell, Tarquam
McKenna, Michelle Moss, Suzanne Perry, Josephine Pretorius, Jean
Rumbold, Victoria Schnaedelbach, Lilian Tan, Jody Thomson, Jill
Westwood, Amanda Woodford, and Davina Woods.

Rich Okun, first an artist, then a poet, reminds one of a modern
day Norman Rockwell. He brings us exquisite artwork and poetry that
stirs the imagination, all at the same time. The purpose of his
work is simple. He wants to inspire, and his collection of work
does just that. This book is made with love and filled with love,
inspired by one very small, very loving dog, a dog named Maya. Rich
Okun spent most of his career in various corporate positions, and
was one of the youngest members of the Art Student's League of New
York. Rich finally thinks he has an answer to the question he has
asked himself all his life, "What do you want to be when you grow
up?" He has found his calling and is now pursuing writing and
illustrating children's books, becoming inspired when a new puppy,
Maya, came into his life. (He knew right away she could help.) Maya
and Rich live with his wife, and 4 cats in an atmosphere of happy
creativity, which is exactly what Bellissima Publishing, LLC hopes
this book will inspire in kids of all ages who dream of becoming
more.

The Politics of Cultural Policy in France offers a lively and iconoclastic account of cultural policy-making in France. Focusing on the policies of the Socialist governments of 1981-86 and 1988-93, the book suggests that policy towards the arts was shaped less by an all-powerful state than by influential professional interest groups. In addition to presenting unusual insights into a policy area which has rarely been studied by political science, the book provides significant revisions to conventional views of relations between the state and civil society in France.
