Part II is explaining in detail the exceptional position of the human encephalon. Part III is discussing maturity and immaturity of all parts of CNS of craniatas and the consequences concerning further development of brain structure and psychological functions. In all parts anatomical fundamentals are presented in the form of didactic and self-explanatory illustrations.

Beneath the original Venetian glass and rosewood case at La Specola in Florence lies Clemente Susini's Anatomical Venus (c. 1790), a perfect object whose luxuriously bizarre existence challenges belief. It - or, better, she - was conceived of as a means to teach human anatomy without need for constant dissection, which was messy, ethically fraught and subject to quick decay. This life-sized wax woman is adorned with glass eyes and human hair and can be dismembered into dozens of parts revealing, at the final remove, a beatific foetus curled in her womb. Sister models soon appeared throughout Europe, where they not only instructed the specialist students, but also delighted the general public. Deftly crafted dissectable female wax models and slashed beauties of the world's anatomy museums and fairgrounds of the 18th and 19th centuries take centre stage in this disquieting volume. Since their creation in late 18th-century Florence, these wax women have seduced, intrigued and amazed. Today, they also confound, troubling the edges of our neat categorical divides: life and death, science and art, body and soul, effigy and pedagogy, spectacle and education, kitsch and art. Incisive commentary and captivating imagery reveal the evolution of these enigmatic sculptures from wax effigy to fetish figure and the embodiment of the uncanny.

Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs) treat postmenopausal estrogen receptor positive tumours, which constitute the majority of breast cancer patients. This comprehensive volume brings together the current knowledge from different relevant areas, including molecular mechanisms and translational aspects of drug resistance in AIs. Topics covered include research, experimental , and clinical data specifically focused on AI resistance in breast cancer. The volume will include three sections. The first section covers general knowledge about aromatase inhibitors, including regulation of aromatase genes, and structure and function of aromatase protein. The second section provides the detailed mechanisms of resistance to AIs, while the third section explores prediction of resistance and potential strategies to overcome resistance. Breast cancer is the most common female cancer and AIs significantly improve treatments outcomes compatibly to previously used endocrine treatments. However 10-15% of post-operative patients develop a relapse during adjuvant treatment with AIs; about 25-50% of the patients do not respond to AIs in neo-adjuvant or metastatic setting, and the majority of metastatic patients who initially respond develop resistance within 3 years. There is an important need to understand these mechanisms of resistance in order to develop methods of preventing or overcoming the resistance to AIs, which will ensure a more successful outcome in treating breast cancer.

Clinical Anatomy by Systems is the first anatomy textbook featuring a systems-based approach geared to medical school programs that have adopted an integrated, organ system-based curriculum. Based on Dr. Snell's established and successful gross anatomy textbook, Clinical Anatomy, this book uses most of the schematic illustrations and many of the same pedagogical features to approach the study of anatomy from a systems-based orientation.

Basic anatomy sections supply basic information for diagnostic and treatment purposes and for performing medical procedures. Numerous imaging examples and labeled photographs of cross-sectional anatomy are included to help students think in terms of three-dimensional anatomy. Surface anatomy sections provide surface landmarks of important anatomic structures located beneath the skin and often bypassed by practicing clinicians.

Physiologic and embryologic notes are interspersed with basic anatomical material to point out the functional significance of the material and provide developmental anatomy information that is essential for the understanding of the structure and relationships of organs. Congenital anomalies that may affect the respective organs are listed after these notes.

Chapter opening outlines highlight the important concepts students should take away from each chapter. End-of-chapter review questions and answers provide valuable assistance in board and course review.

A free bound-in CD-ROM contains clinical notes, information on congenital anomalies, radiographic anatomy, and clinical problem-solving exercises. The clinical notes emphasize the structures that the physician will encounter when making a diagnosis and treating a patient. They also provide the anatomic knowledge necessary to understand many procedures and techniques and note the anatomic "pitfalls" commonly encountered. The problem-solving sections consist of case histories followed by multiple-choice questions and answers with rationales.

The International Sport Coaching Framework (Version 1.2) is an adaptable document that provides a common language and set of principles about coaching on which the worldwide sport community can agree. Created by the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU), the Framework represents a significant step toward establishing consensus on the * primary functions of a coach; * roles and responsibilities of a coach in athlete development; * qualifications, knowledge and core competences needed for coaching effectively; and * methods by which coaches are educated, developed and certified. The International Sport Coaching Framework incorporates feedback, research and best practices from around the world to provide sport federations, coaching organisations, international federations and educational institutions with considerations for designing, benchmarking and refining their coaching education and certification programmes. The result is a universal platform that facilitates the development of coaches and, ultimately, the enrichment of sport for all.
