Mobile Phone Behavior (Paperback): Zheng Yan Mobile Phone Behavior (Paperback)
Zheng Yan
R880 Discovery Miles 8 800 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book provides the first comprehensive introduction to the newly-emerging science of mobile phone behavior. It presents the unexpected complexity of human mobile phone behavior through four basic aspects of mobile phone usage (users, technologies, activities, and effects), and then explores four major domains of such behavior (medicine, business, education, and everyday life). Chapters open with thoughts on mobile phone usage and behavior from interviews with cell phone users, then present a series of scientific studies, synthesized knowledge, and real-life cases, concluding with complex but highly readable analyses of each aspect of mobile phone behavior. Readers should achieve two intellectual goals: gaining a usable knowledge of the complexity of mobile phone behaviour, and developing the skills to analyze the complexity of mobile phone usage - and further technological behaviors.

Yang-Ming Zhu
R1,656 Discovery Miles 16 560 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Identifying failure modes and their effects is critical to software failure mode and effects analysis and it largely depends on the analysts' experience and the skill. This book develops a series of reading techniques based on common and prioritized failure modes in software requirements, software design, coding, and usability in order to makes the benefits of software failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) readily accessible to general software practitioners, particularly in small teams and resource-constrained organizations. After a general introduction it offers an overview of software FMEA and discusses software review procedures and software reading techniques. Subsequent chapters present the basic ideas behind failure-modes-based reading techniques and examine the use of these techniques for software requirements, software design, software coding, software usability, and software testing. Covering the entire creation process, and including checklists and examples, it provides an easy introduction to the topic for professionals in software engineering and quality assurance.

Doing Design Ethnography (Hardcover, 2012 ed.): Andrew Crabtree, Mark Rouncefield, Peter Tolmie Doing Design Ethnography (Hardcover, 2012 ed.)
Andrew Crabtree, Mark Rouncefield, Peter Tolmie
R1,415 Discovery Miles 14 150 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Ethnography is now a fundamental feature of design practice, taught in universities worldwide and practiced widely in commerce. Despite its rise to prominence a great many competing perspectives exist and there are few practical texts to support the development of competence. Doing Design Ethnography" "elaborates the ethnomethodological perspective on ethnography, a distinctive approach that provides canonical 'studies of work' in and for design. It provides an extensive treatment of the approach, with a particular slant on providing a pedagogical text that will support the development of competence for students, career researchers and design practitioners. It is organised around a complementary series of self-contained chapters, each of which address key features of doing the job of ethnography for purposes of system design. The book will be of broad appeal to students and practitioners in HCI, CSCW and software engineering, providing valuable insights as to how to conduct ethnography and relate it to design.
