UnMarket to build trust and make lifelong customers! In 2009, Scott Stratten and Alison Stratten wrote the bestselling UnMarketing: Stop Marketing, Start Engaging and began a journey that would take them around the world sharing their message of engagement with corporations, entrepreneurs, and students. They are now back with this second edition, because Everything has Changed and Nothing is Different, with all the brilliance of the first edition, plus new content and commentary to reflect the rapidly changing landscape we all live, buy, and work in today. So why do we still keep trying the same stale marketing moves? UnMarketing shows you how to unlearn the old ways and consistently attract and engage the right customers. You'll stop just pushing out your message and praying that it sticks somewhere. Potential and current customers want to be listened to, validated, and have a platform to be heard-especially online. With UnMarketing, you'll create a relationship with your customers, and make yourself the logical choice for their needs. We know you've been told to act like other people, talk like other people, and market like all the people, but it is time for you to unlearn everything and start to UnMarket yourself. Welcome to the Creative Age - Bananas, Business and the Death of Marketing (Hardcover): Mark Earls Welcome to the Creative Age - Bananas, Business and the Death of Marketing (Hardcover)
Mark Earls
R976 R728 Discovery Miles 7 280 Save R248 (25%) Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The rules and principles that have governed business for half a century are dead; what matters now, more than anything else, is creativity and ideas. In a thought-provoking look at the death of 'old' marketing, Mark Earls explores this sea change and shows how the new philosophy can be used to solve traditional marketing problems. He also provides detailed guidance for building an organization for which employees will choose to work - one within which creativity and ideas can flourish.

'This is the book Naomi Klein should have written. Mark Earls affectionately dissects the madness of modern marketing but at the same time understands why it really matters.' Dominic Mills, Editorial Director, Campaign Magazine

'Mark tears up a lot of what we are secure and familiar with (fundamental notions such as "brand" and "consumer-orientation", for instance), and, while giving us some of the new building blocks, he asks as many questions about the way forward without these familiar handrails, as he offers answers.' From the Foreword by Adam Morgan, Director of EatBigFish and author of best-selling Eating the Big Fish

'If the only thing you do is throw out your mission statement and grasp hold of a "purpose-idea" you will have a great return on your investment in Mark Earls' book.' Kevin Thomson, author of best-selling Emotional Capital and President of MCA Communicate

'Anyone who has ever challenged the shibboleths and practices of late twentieth century Marketing - especially the holy grail of "consumer insight" self-servingly invented by the Market Research industry - should read Mark Earls' comprehensive and tightly argued critique. Not only does it give us a rationale for not doing it like that any more (3 cheers!) but it also offers a passionate book full of creative ways to do it differently and more productively (300 cheers!).' Virginia Valentine, author, and Founder of Semiotic Solutions

'There are many who will doubtless want to see Mark Earls burned at the nearest stake for suggesting that marketing is not the all-seeing, all-healing deity in which they believe. Enjoy your martyrdom, Mark. Truth is on your side.' Jon Steel, author of best-selling Truth, Lies & Advertising - The Art of Account Planning

Behavioral Science in the Wild helps managers understand how best to incorporate key research findings to solve their own behavior change challenges in the real world - from lab to field. Behavioral Science in the Wild helps managers to implement research findings on behavioral change in their own workplace operations and to apply them to business or policy problems. As the second book in the Behaviourally Informed Organizations series, Behavioral Science in the Wild takes a step back to address the "why" and "how" behind the origins of behavioral insights, and how best to translate and scale behavioral science from lab-based research findings. Governments, for-profit enterprises, and welfare organizations have increasingly started relying on findings from the behavioral sciences to develop more accessible and user-friendly products, processes, and experiences for their end-users. While there is a burgeoning science that helps us to understand why people act and make the decisions that they do, and how their actions can be influenced, we still lack a precise science and strategic insights into how some key theoretical findings can be successfully translated, scaled, and applied in the field. Nina Mazar and Dilip Soman are joined by leading figures from both the academic and applied behavioral sciences to develop a nuanced framework for how managers can best translate results from pilot studies into their own organizations and behavior change challenges using behavioral science.

What is the most important issue facing business today? Globalization, the technological revolution, supply chain management, core competencies, staff retention, price competition? Important though all of these are, something else is emerging as an equally critical challenge facing companies in the technological, globalized, knowledge economy ahead. It is the concept of Citizen Brands. Its importance arises because it embodies not just one, but three crucial strategic issues for the business world: aeo Values (what the company stands for); aeo Corporate citizenship (playing an active role in society); aeo Branding (the tangible and intangible attributes that are encompassed in a name or trademark). This book is about how these three elements come together in an integrated way; about how they define a companya s relationship with all the relevant people and institutions it has to deal with -- customers, employees, shareholders, suppliers, government or whoever. Put another way, it is about achieving corporate success through putting society at the heart of the company. Companies through their direct actions (for example employment) and through their intermediaries -- brands -- are an integral part of the social and economic world in which they operate, needing to reflect the values and aspirations that exist; the differences and similarities. This is why corporate managers need to bring society into the company; why they need to turn their brands into citizen brands. In the emerging networked, post--industrial world, managing that relationship is one of the most important challenges that companies face. And companies that understand and embrace this are likely to be the ultimate winners in the future.

R3,017 Discovery Miles 30 170 Ships in 9 - 15 working days

Categorization pervades economic life; products, services, firms and industries are continuously being classified by rivals, clients, experts and critics. A stream of research highlighting the importance of market and product categories for organizations and individuals has grown in importance during the past 40 years. This volume contains ten essays on categorization authored by some of the world's leading scholars within sociology of markets, organization theory, and strategy research. It opens with revisiting the influential theory of "the categorical imperative", and moves on to present various accounts of the social processes that form part of categorization and elaboration of their consequences. Together, the different chapters effectively show that categorization is a process, tightly connected to actors involved and their specific acts, the characteristics of the entity being categorized, and the context and timing informing these activities. As such, it complements the earlier cognitive perspectives by discussing the evaluative, social, and political manifestations of categorization.

Meta-Regulation in Practice - Beyond Normative Views of Morality and Rationality (Paperback): F.C. Simon Meta-Regulation in Practice - Beyond Normative Views of Morality and Rationality (Paperback)
F.C. Simon
R1,154 Discovery Miles 11 540 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Meta-regulation presents itself as a progressive policy approach that can manage complexity and conflicting objectives better than traditional command and control regulation. It does this by 'harnessing' markets and enlisting a broad range of stakeholders to reach a more inclusive view of the public interest that a self-regulating business can then respond to. Based on a seventeen year study of the Australian energy industry, and via the lens of Niklas Luhmann's systems theory, Meta-Regulation in Practice argues that normative meta-regulatory theory relies on questionable assumptions of stakeholder morality and rationality. Meta-regulation in practice appears to be most challenged in a complex and contested environment; the very environment it is supposed to serve best. Contending that scholarship must prioritise an understanding of communicative possibilities in practice, this book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as postdoctoral researchers interested in subjects such as business regulation, systems theory and corporate social responsibility. Please visit meta-regulation.com for more insightful information on meta-regulation and Meta-Regulation in Practice.

Strategic Marketing - In the Customer Driven Organization (Paperback, Revised): F. Bradley Strategic Marketing - In the Customer Driven Organization (Paperback, Revised)
F. Bradley
R1,508 Discovery Miles 15 080 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Marketing is the function within an organization that focuses directly on the customer. Strategic Marketing in the Customer Driven Organization places a unique emphasis on the reason for the existence of the firm -- to provide, communicate and deliver value to the customer. Through the use of many international examples, the book demonstrates how providing the real needs of customers more effectively than the competition is the key to long term strategic success.

"This is not your typical marketing book. It provides the reader with real life business situations, where gathering information is key – not just on the marketplace but specific information about your customers and building it in to practical marketing response programs. As the President of a company who prides itself on building and nurturing strong customer relationships I would recommend this as a ‘must read’" Dr Pearse Lyons, President , Alltech Inc.

"Frank Bradley’s new book takes as its point of departure his well-established core marketing concepts (understand, provide, communicate and deliver value) and puts them to use as the foundation for this compact, concise and very readable text." Professor Susan Hart, Head of Department of Marketing University of Strathclyde

Strategic Marketing in the Customer Driven Organization has been written for students of general marketing, marketing management and strategic marketing for advanced undergraduate and MBA courses. It is also especially suited to executive education programmes and managers wishing to integrate experiential learning within an intellectual framework.

We live in evolving societies that undergo profound and rapid transformations, and trust and reputation are at risk in a dynamic, disruptive, and uncertain world. How issues are approached in public relations and communication management will determine the future of the field and practice. In this complex scenario, going back to the basic elements of public relations - people and relationships - when managing communications is more important than ever before. (Re)discovering the Human Element in Public Relations and Communication Management in Unpredictable rethinks what it means to put the person at the center of the organization's decisions. The chapters explore different aspects of how public relations and communication management address the challenges of change in unpredictable times, while considering the human element and the people behind communication. The research was selected from a large number of peer-reviewed contributions to the 2021 Annual Congress of the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA), hosted by Universidad de Navarra in Spain. Advances in Public Relations and Communication Management (APCRM) is a publication of the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA). Safety-II in Practice - Developing the Resilience Potentials (Hardcover): Erik Hollnagel Safety-II in Practice - Developing the Resilience Potentials (Hardcover)
Erik Hollnagel
R3,579 Discovery Miles 35 790 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Safety-I is defined as the freedom from unacceptable harm. The purpose of traditional safety management is therefore to find ways to ensure this 'freedom'. But as socio-technical systems steadily have become larger and less tractable, this has become harder to do. Resilience engineering pointed out from the very beginning that resilient performance - an organisation's ability to function as required under expected and unexpected conditions alike - required more than the prevention of incidents and accidents. This developed into a new interpretation of safety (Safety-II) and consequently a new form of safety management. Safety-II changes safety management from protective safety and a focus on how things can go wrong, to productive safety and a focus on how things can and do go well. For Safety-II, the aim is not just the elimination of hazards and the prevention of failures and malfunctions but also how best to develop an organisation's potentials for resilient performance - the way it responds, monitors, learns, and anticipates. That requires models and methods that go beyond the Safety-I toolbox. This book introduces a comprehensive approach for the management of Safety-II, called the Resilience Assessment Grid (RAG). It explains the principles of the RAG and how it can be used to develop the resilience potentials. The RAG provides four sets of diagnostic and formative questions that can be tailored to any organisation. The questions are based on the principles of resilience engineering and backed by practical experience from several domains. Safety-II in Practice is for both the safety professional and academic reader. For the professional, it presents a workable method (RAG) for the management of Safety-II, with a proven track record. For academic and student readers, the book is a concise and practical presentation of resilience engineering.
