Die Fotografien zeigen ihn frontal in enger, roter, glanzender Lederkleidung auf einem Sessel sitzend vor einem schlichten weissen Hintergrund. Durch seine Kleidung, die den Charakter von Fetischkleidung aufweist, begibt er sich in die Tradition der popkulturellen Entwicklungen der siebziger Jahre, vor allem des Glam Rock, in der androgyne Mannlichkeit zu einem weit verbreiteten und massenwirksamen Phanomen wurde. Hinweise auf Weiblichkeit finden sich vor allem durch Kleidung und Schminke. Allerdings ist Klauke nicht bestrebt, das Mannliche zu verstecken, vielmehr erzeugt er ein zwischen den Geschlechtern changierendes korperliches Konstrukt. Indem der Kunstler weibliche und mannliche Elemente auf der Oberflache seines Korpers vermischt, also ein binar codiertes Subjekt darstellt, verwirrt er den Betrachter und thematisiert herrschende Diskurse uber Identitat, Geschlecht, gangige geschlechtliche Rollenschemata und Korperlichkeit. Zu Beginn der siebziger Jahre befand sich das Medium Fotografie noch in der Phase der Etablierung. Die Fotografie als kunstlerisches Medium in Abgrenzung zum Medium der Dokumentation hatte sich noch nicht vollstandig durchgesetzt und bot daher Raum zum Experimentieren. Die Analyse beginnt mit einer Bildbeschreibung der dreiteiligen Serie Tranformer. Danach folgt eine kurze Darstellung der charakteristischen Eigenschaften des Mediums Fotografie an sich, dem Stellenwert fur Klaukes Arbeit allgemein und seine Relevanz fur die Serie Transformer. Arthur d'Arazien's particular talent was to photograph American industry. He recorded with artistry, precision, and passion the powerful, emotional impact of giant machines, immense structures, and complex artifacts. His photographs are the result of meticulous planning and implementation on a grand scale. He was an experimenter and an innovator, pioneering such techniques as multiple exposures on a single sheet of film; lights in motion in the dark; and the use of reflectors, flash powder, and strobe lights to illuminate huge interior and exterior spaces. He experimented with films, cameras, lenses, focus, exposure, filters, and lighting to achieve just the right effects. D'Arazien grew up in New York City, where he attended Cooper Union Institute. During World War II he served as an instructor in aerial photography for the Army Air Corps, and there he learned to use magnesium flash powder to light huge exterior expanses.
