Die elastische Ausgleichskupplung ist ein Maschinenelement, das in Antriebssyste- men von Maschinenanlagen und Fahrzeugen vielfaltige Verwendung findet. Obwohl sie einfach aufgebaut ist, war das Wissen tiber Auslegung und Auswahl bisher relativ begrenzt. Erst in den letzten Jahren hat sich die Forschung verstiirkt auch der elasti- schen Kupplung angenommen und vielfliltige Erkenntnisse tiber Steifigkeit und Dampfung sowie zur Auslegung im Zusammenwirken mit einem Antriebsstrang be- reitgestellt. Das vorliegende Buch beabsichtigt deshalb, diese neuen Erkenntnisse zusammenfassend darzustellen und sie so einer breiteren Anwendung in Konstruk- tion und Betriebspraxis zuganglich zu machen. Neben dem Uberblick tiber Bauformen und konstruktive Einzelheiten der elasti- schen Ausgleichskupplungen ist es ein Anliegen des Buches, tiber die komplexen Vorgange in den Elastomerelementen - als die die Kennwerte einer Kupplung bestimmenden Glieder - zu informieren. Die Darstellung der Kupplungsberech- nung bezieht sich weniger auf Fragen der Festigkeit von Kupplungskorper und Elastomerelement, sondero mehr auf die Bestimmung der zeitabhangigen Beanspru- chungsgr6Ben, die eine Kupplung im Antriebsstrang erfahrt. Dabei wurde groBer Wert darauf gelegt, sowohl Naherungsmethoden als auch ge- nauere Berechnungsverfahren zusammen mit dem wissenschaftlichen Hintergrund darzustellen, zumal - durch das stiirkere Vordringen der elektronischen Datenverar- beitung - der Einsatz dieser Verfahren stiindig an Bedeutung gewinnt. This book describes the development of the Guzzini's company: 100 years of history set out in fascinating details, with a succession of protagonists of Italian and international culture such as Gillo Dorfles, Oscar Farinetti, Aldo Bonomi, Robin Levien, Angeletti Ruzza, Karim Rashid, and many other leading designers. The seed of innovation was already present in Fratelli Guzzini from the year of the company's birth in 1912. This seed of innovation was made fertile by Enrico Guzzini, a man who drew upon his experiences to set about re-launching an ancient craft, producing elegant ox horn items. From that time on, the company's history has been characterized by a series of decisively innovatory milestones. With the introduction of moulded acrylics at the beginning of the 1960s, the company showed a more open approach to business by importing the creative concepts of some of the best minds in design. This was followed by the development of the bicolour project in the 1980s, then the leap to gas-assisted injection in the 1990s, to current research on new plastic materials, usefully combining them with futuristic acrylics or more classical traditional materials, such as porcelain, glass, steel and wood, and with the work of the most talented contemporary designers. The result is a vast catalogue of all types of items beautifully designed but easy to use, familiar, inexpensive, extremely practical, and recyclable.

Joe Colombo (Milan, 1930-1971) was one of the greatest designers of the last century, visionary and ingenious, capable of giving shape to ideas that retain a striking relevance to this day. Die Neube- arbeitung konnte also auf die Berucksichtigung des heutigen Standes von Wissenschaft und Praxis auf dem Fachgebiet der Maschinenelemente beschrankt werden. Sie umfasst den Fortschritt der Normung und Vereinheitlichung und die jetzt festgelegten SI-Ein- heiten (m, kg, N, kW, K). Durch konsequente Verwendung dieser Einheiten konnte weitestgehend auf Zahlenwertgleichungen verzichtet werden. In the field of machine tools the considerable progress which has taken place in the last two decades, has been due to a large extent to the co-opera- tion between teaching, research and industry. The paper describes how this co-operation, extending far beyond national boundaries, has influenced design fundamentals as well as design practice for metal cutting machine tools, and how this has contributed to the develop- ment of machines which show better quantitative and qualitative perfor- mance with higher technical and economic efficiency.
