The work of Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas enjoys a well-earned
reputation for the artistic talent it expresses and for its
capacity to surprise with the most risky and spectacular projects.
With offices in Rome, Paris and Shenzen, the Fuksases have
completed projects of contrasting scales and typologies: airports,
theatrical scenographies, urban planning, large infrastructure,
housing projects... This companion book to Fuksas Building features
works by the studio which are focused on product design, interior
design, scenography, furniture and jewelry. Perhaps the less known
aspect of Fuksas' work, their product design emphasizes a natural
condition in changing scales, materials and uses. Research is also
very present behind every piece. The richly illustrated projects
include the Armani stores, the Alessi collection and the furniture
for Haworth Castelli, among many others.
New in paperback, this is an in-depth survey of today's best design
and art production using digital technology in creative and
unexpected ways. Troika, a multi-disciplinary art and design
practice showcase nearly eighty of the world's most innovative
designers and their designs, from crystal chandeliers displaying
text messages to tooth implants which allow for near telepathic
communication. Paola Antonelli, of The Museum of Modern Art, New
York, contributes a foreword and interviews with four of the
brightest lights in the field: Dunne & Raby, Ron Arad, Steven
Sacks and Mashiko Kusahara. No design professional will be able to
ignore this innovative book.

Until spring 2020 the trade fair sector was still boasting: "You
can't e-mail a handshake!" Then Covid-19 came along and everything
was turned upside down: exhibitions were postponed, cancelled or
relocated into digital space. It also brought forth new concepts
with which we had not reckoned a couple of years ago: virtual
twins, AR or VR walk-through stands, online exhibitions with new
meeting formats, or quite different ideas that are currently
turning the sector upside down, providing new impetuses and making
the trade fair a place as we have never known it before. The new
trade fair yearbook presents not only the most exciting exhibition
settings of the previous year but also entices us into virtual
space.
In the field of machine tools the considerable progress which has
taken place in the last two decades, has been due to a large extent
to the co-opera- tion between teaching, research and industry. The
paper describes how this co-operation, extending far beyond
national boundaries, has influenced design fundamentals as well as
design practice for metal cutting machine tools, and how this has
contributed to the develop- ment of machines which show better
quantitative and qualitative perfor- mance with higher technical
and economic efficiency.
Literatur [1] Nicolson, J.

Design is everywhere. It shapes not only our present but also our
future. An essential introductory guide, Design: The Key Concepts
covers fundamental design concepts: thinking, service, context,
interaction, experience, and systems. Each concept is situated
within a broad context, enabling the reader to understand design's
contemporary practice and its relationship to issues such as new
technology, social and economic development, globalization, and
sustainability. Concepts are also explained by use of concise,
illustrated case studies of contemporary objects, spaces, systems,
and methods such as Uber, the iPhone, Kickstarter and IKEA. Chapter
summaries and supporting discussion questions make this an engaging
and accessible introduction for students and those new to the
field. An annotated bibliography provides direction for further
reading.
Fully revised and with a new chapter and international case
studies, this second edition of the best-selling book traces how
artists and designers continue to adapt and incorporate 3D printing
technology into their work and explains how the creative industries
are directly interfacing with this new technology. Covering a broad
range of applied art practice - from fine art and furniture-design
to film-making - Stephen Hoskins introduces some of his
groundbreaking research from the Centre for Fine Print Research
along with an updated history of 3D print technology, a new chapter
on fashion and animation, and new case studies featuring artists
working with metal, plastic, ceramic and other materials. A
fascinating investigation into how the applied arts continue to
adapt to new technologies and a forecast of what developments we
might expect in the future, this book is essential reading for
students, researchers studying contemporary art and design and
professionals involved in the creative industries.
Kreis unserer Mitarbeiter ausgeschieden.
Munchen, Herr Dr.-Ing. J. RUGE als Bearbeiter der Hauptabschnitte
getreten. Die Weiterentwicklung der Schweisstechnik machte eine
vollstandige UEber- arbeitung erforderlich.

A vibrant look at the celebrated artist and designer KAWS. This
comprehensive monograph explores KAWS's art career in depth, from
his early street art interventions to his recent send-ups of
familiar cultural icons. With wit, irreverence, and even affection,
KAWS takes infamous entertainment characters such as the Simpsons
and the Smurfs and traps them in plastic blister packages while
reinterpreting their appearance. The packaged "Kimpsons" and
"Kurfs" are new types of hybrid artworks that both serve and
criticize contemporary consumer culture. Also featured is KAWS's
astute and prolific body of commercial work, including apparel from
his Japanese store OriginalFake, a partnership with Medicom Toy, as
well as product design, limited-edition toys, graphic designs;
collaborations with architect Masamichi Katayama and artists Hajime
Sorayama, Todd James, and Mark Dean Veca; collaborations with
companies including Comme des Garcons, Levis, Lucas Films, The
Simpsons, Nike, Supreme, and Marc Jacobs; and Japanese companies
such as A Bathing Ape, Undercover, and Visvim.
