This guidebook provides 45 day walks in the Scottish Borders.
Separated into six sections, these walks are divided between the
north and south Cheviots, Tweed, Ettrick, Moffat and Manor hills
and feature main centres including Wooler, Kelso, Melrose, Peebles
and Moffat. The guide's seventh section outlines long distance
routes, including a walk along the Border from Gretna to
Berwick-on-Tweed. The Scottish Borders are rich in both history and
geology. These walks explore many historical sites, from Iron Age
forts on hillsides to bastles and towers dating from the Border
Reivers era. The stunning and varied scenery is a result of complex
geological processes; a visit to Dobb's Linn showcases preserved
fossils, while the coastline at St Abbs Head features iconic folded
rock formations which are home to a myriad of birds including
guillemots. Each walk features 1:50,000 OS mapping, comprehensive
route description and plenty of information about points of
interest along the route. The walks are graded and can be easily
customised with alternative start points, route variants and
shortcuts. The guide's introduction offers plenty of practical
information about how to get there and where to stay, while the
appendices list useful contacts and tourist information centres.

Keith Earls started out in senior rugby as a teenage star and
during the course of his long career has become one of the most
admired and respected players of his generation. A British &
Irish Lion at the age of 21, he is now closing in on his 34th
birthday and still playing at the top of his game. He has won 93
caps for Ireland and played 179 times in the famous red of Munster.
He started every game of the 2018 Six Nations campaign that
culminated in an Irish Grand Slam victory. A lethal finisher
blessed with thoroughbred speed, Earls is the second-highest try
scorer of all time for his country. With Munster he is one try
short of the all-time total and looks set to break that record next
season. Behind the glittering success, there is another story to be
told. He has achieved these milestones whilst being racked by
private battles with his mental health for most of his career. A
number of crises brought him to the brink of voluntary retirement
from the game. A long series of injuries have taken their
psychological toll too. A native of Limerick city, Earls grew up in
one of its most socially disadvantaged housing estates. Moyross was
blighted by crime and violence and he did not escape unscathed from
the surrounding fear and trauma visited upon his beloved community.
His natural sporting talent brought him into the privileged bastion
of elite rugby union. His frank and fearless autobiography tells
the story of his long struggle to reconcile the world whence he
came with the world opened up by his brilliance with an oval ball.
Earls has maintained a low profile throughout his career. For the
first time he will talk in depth and at length about the inner
turmoil that went unseen by team-mates, friends and fans. It is a
confessional, intimate and courageous story of the pain that was a
constant companion to the glory.

Winning isn’t a science. It’s an art. And it can be learned.
No one embodies winning more than Bill Belichick, the greatest American
football coach of all time. Over the past fifty years, Belichick has
been a man of notoriously few words, believing that a coach should keep
a low profile. After he left the Patriots in 2024, he briefly became a
coach without a team. He spent that year writing down the principles he
learned from his father, Navy football, and from his forty-nine-year
coaching career.
Belichick’s philosophy goes far beyond football. He presents a
whole-year, whole-life, whole-mindset approach to greatness that
encompasses preparation, motivation, confidence, and leadership. The
principles in this book are adaptable to wherever you work. No matter
where you are on the ladder, they will help you think like a leader in
anticipation of being one.
Drawing on decades of studying the greats of the game, handling
colorful personalities and egos, and playing for the highest stakes in
sports, Belichick shares memorable examples and practical takeaways
from his lived experience. Winning is not about being perfect—it’s
about growth. And you will improve only as much as you recognize where
you’re weak. Belichick owns up to mistakes like deciding to go for it
on 4th and 10 in the 2008 Super Bowl. Then he breaks down how to learn
from your mistakes like a leader does—an approach that sustained him
throughout his early-career challenges and ultimately brought him to
the top of the sport.
Belichick’s principles might surprise you at times. At other times,
they might seem strangely obvious. (His rule for how to win football
games? Score the most points.) Football is about strategy, human
nature, and business. Your vision of success might involve breaking
into a new, competitive market in your industry; seeing solid returns
on a portfolio that you’ve carefully prepared; inspiring your students
to earn the highest scores in the district; or raising up trainees to
take over your job someday. Whatever the situation, your performance is
up to you.
Practical, authoritative, and bursting with unforgettable inside
stories, The Art of Winning is an indispensable guide to success from
the greatest coach in NFL history.

The Masterful, Definitive History of Argentinian Soccer Lionel
Messi, Diego Maradona, Alfredo Di Stefano: in every generation
Argentina has uncovered a uniquely brilliant soccer talent. Perhaps
it's because the country lives and breathes the game, its theories,
and its myths. Argentina's rich, volatile history-by turns sublime
and ruthlessly pragmatic-is mirrored in the style and swagger of
its national and club sides. In Angels with Dirty Faces, Jonathan
Wilson chronicles the operatic drama of Argentinian soccer: the
appropriation of the British game, the golden age of la nuestra,
the exuberant style of playing that developed as Juan Peron led the
country, a hardening into the brutal methods of anti-futbol, the
fusion of beauty and efficacy under Cesar Luis Menotti, and the
emergence of all-time greats. Praise for Inverting the Pyramid
"Here, for the first time in decades, is a top-notch soccer book on
how soccer is actually played on the field." -Simon Kuper "An
outstanding work...The soccer book of the decade." -Sunday Business

'The notion of governance has gained significant currency and has
become an inseparable part of sport organisations' strategies and
practices. It is also a widely taught subject in academic
institutions. This is an original and well-conceptualized book,
which provides a comprehensive examination of governance at
different levels of analysis. Written by established scholars, the
text represents a great reference source and will complement nicely
the library of academics and practitioners alike.' - Vassil
Girginov, President, European Association for Sport Management
(EASM) 'The timeliness of this Research Handbook is underscored by
the fact that the topic of sport governance has become extremely
relevant and important but also extremely complex in our time.' -
Hallgeir Gammelsaeter, Molde Specialized University in Logistics,
Norway Recent scandals across the word of sport can be directly
related to poor governance. This Research Handbook gathers the
state-of-the-art research on sport governance by leading
international scholars on various issues across various sports,
offering a vital reference point for advancing research.
Illustrating different approaches and perspectives such as good
governance principles, systemic governance, political governance
and network governance, chapters suggest research-informed
practical solutions to current problems within sport organisations.
Covering sport event governance, business implications, corporate
social responsibility for enhancing good governance and extended
board management, specific directions for further research are
provided for each topic under examination. This is the essential
reference for all sport governance researchers. It will also be
insightful for sport governing bodies and administrators looking
for advice on improving good governance in sport institutions.
He is one of the most beloved athletes in history and one of the most gifted men ever to step onto a tennis court – but from early childhood Andre Agassi hated the game.
Coaxed to swing a racket while still in the crib, forced to hit hundreds of balls a day while still in grade school, Agassi resented the constant pressure even as he drove himself to become a prodigy, an inner conflict that would define him. Now, in his beautiful, haunting autobiography, Agassi tells the story of a life framed by such conflicts.
Agassi makes us feel his panic as an undersized seven-year-old in Las Vegas, practicing all day under the obsessive gaze of his violent father. We see him at thirteen, banished to a Florida tennis camp. Lonely, scared, a ninth-grade dropout, he rebels in ways that will soon make him a 1980s icon. By the time he turns pro at sixteen, his new look promises to change tennis forever, as does his lightning fast return.
And yet, despite his raw talent, he struggles early on. We feel his confusion as he loses to the world's best, his greater confusion as he starts to win. After stumbling in three Grand Slam finals, Agassi shocks the world, and himself, by capturing the 1992 Wimbledon. Overnight he becomes a fan favorite and a media target.
Agassi brings a near-photographic memory to every pivotal match, and every public relationship. Alongside vivid portraits of rivals, Agassi gives unstinting accounts of his brief time with Barbra Streisand and his doomed marriage to Brooke Shields. He reveals the depression that shatters his confidence, and the mistake that nearly costs him everything. Finally, he recounts his spectacular resurrection and his march to become the oldest man ever ranked number one.
In clear, taut prose, Agassi evokes his loyal brother, his wise coach, his gentle trainer, all the people who help him regain his balance and find love at last with Stefanie Graf.
With its breakneck tempo and raw candor, Open will be read and cherished for years. A treat for ardent fans, it will also captivate readers who know nothing about tennis. Like Agassi's game, it sets a new standard for grace, style, speed and power.
