Beispielhaft sei fiir die Exfoliativzytologie die fort- laufende Kontrolle von Tumoren der Harnwege und fUr die Punktionszytologie die Diagnostik von Schilddriisenkrankheiten genannt. Folgerichtig werden fiir die Anerkennung als Pathologe Erfahrungen in der zytologischen Diagnostik verlangt. Vielfach waren es aber zuerst morphologisch interessierte Kliniker, die sich dieser Methoden annahmen, war doch vor allem die einfache und schonende Materialgewinnung der Anreiz, den operativen Eingriff der Biopsie moglichst zu vermeiden.
