Authored by a sex therapist who regularly works with clients wanting to improve their relationships, this book explains how technology can create conflict or additional anxiety and discloses techniques to help individuals gain confidence or strengthen their personal relationships. The statistics are telling: 85 percent of all adults use the Internet; 88 percent use email; 91 percent own cell phones; 56 percent own smartphones; 73 percent send and receive text messages; and 67 percent use social networking sites. The advent of personal communication devices and ubiquitous connectivity has dramatically shifted the way we communicate, and as a result, the way we date and pursue relationships has changed. The share of 18- to 24-year-olds who use online dating has roughly tripled from 10 percent in 2013 to 27 percent today. Modern dating techniques and technology-enabled interpersonal communication have resulted in very distinct emotional side effects. Dating and Mating in a Techno-Driven World explores dating in our 21st-century world with a unique approach, providing understandable information for anyone who is dating or seeking a long-term relationship while also serving as a clinical guide for therapists who want to learn how to treat individuals and especially couples presenting with some sort of issue related to technology. Instead of simply offering an analysis of the trends that are occurring, author Rachel Hoffman addresses the interpersonal problems and conflicts that result from digital or remote communication and "courting" and explains how to treat them. The topics addressed include utilizing dating apps, the effects of social media on relationships, and how technology can be distracting in relationships. Each chapter of the book supplies a case study or vignette, an analysis of the situation, research findings related to the topic, and clinical information that identifies the implications for therapists working with individuals or couples with a similar experience.

Recently there has been much debate over the adoption, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive health and sexuality education programs in Massachusetts public schools. Advocates of school-based comprehensive health education programs often use a public health approach to substantiate their position. They cite national and statewide statistics about adolescent sexual activity and unsafe sexual practice as a basis for providing students with the facts and the skills to make decisions to prevent pregnancy and the transmission of sexually-transmitted diseases. Opponents often speak about the parents' role in educating their sons and daughters and object to public school instruction that regards homosexuality and safe sex as acceptable choices. In the literature, many models of community organization focus on the decision-making structure within the community, rather than on the process of social change. Therefore, we often know who makes community decisions, without knowing much about how and why these decisions are made. In this study the process of social change is explored by conducting comparative case studies of two Massachusetts communities.
These stories and statements have been written with an unbiased pen, and nor has this been written with an unmerited prejudice toward women and men, but only on facts about the way most couples act in a relationship. The struggle for control and dominance among men and women is present in almost every relationship in the United States and is spreading fast throughout other free countries around the world. Control and dominance has taken the place of honor and respect. The only positive side to this miserable state of destitution that man has brought upon himself due to his uncontrollable desire for sex is the humor in it all. Even the most reputable of tough men seem so tranquil in the hypnotic, drunken stupor that men are reduced to from this unexplainable emotion called love. This really is the main objective of this book, to examine, expose, and exploit the silly things we do over this crazy little thing that we call love. This book is filled with many different facts, examples, opinions, and truths, along with plenty of humor that will keep the readers interest. Although this book has been written from the point of view of a man, I believe the reader will find the author is equally critical of both genders, and possibly just a little more critical of the emotional weaknesses expressed from his own gender: the male race. This book is also provocative, offensive, and very controversial, but if read with an open mind, I do believe the reader will enjoy the contents pertaining to these stories about the many foolish things men and women will do for love. Countless songs, books, and movies have been made from this subject. Love is the most powerful force of energy ever known to mankind. It has been said, "The truth isn't always kind," and that sometimes "the truth cuts like a knife," but regardless of the offense, the truth is what it is, true The Author boasts that his explosive tell it like it really is book is potentially one of the most controversial books ever written second only to the bible. Through satirical expression this book is written out understandably in layman's terms so that the contents of this book is clear to whom it refers, the backbone of America in this society: the commoners. Unlike many male authors who write about the sexes, you will not find this author dancing around the issues of truth because he may fear a group or groups of people over political and personal career interest such as talk show hosts and their special guest psychologist will do when they discuss the issues of the genders. I can assure you the reader will discover that when it comes to the subjects of men and women, this is not some "tell you what you want to hear book," but rather this is a "tell you like it really is book " You can liken this Author as the "Simon" of relationship psychology - a straight shooter In the contents of this book, you will also find the unveiled exposure of candid information from the minds of men. The view of a male for a woman will never be the same. Men and women both need to take a step back from this big circle of confusion, and take a long hard look into that boiling hot cauldron of emotions that we call love, and see just how foolish women and men really are when it comes to the four letter word that we call L-O-V-E.
Parents, child advocates, and family attorneys need to understand how to put the federal adoption assistance law to work for their children and clients in order to create adoptions, keep them intact and healthy, and encourage future special needs adoptive placements as well. This guide through the state adoption bureaucracies shows how to navigate the adoption assistance process, negotiate an adoption assistance contract, and plan effective administrative hearings and adoption subsidy appeals. Essentially four books in one, this book includes and explains the federal IV-E adoption assistance law and many of the important clarifications that have been issued by the federal government over the last two decades; takes the reader inside the culture of the state adoption bureaucracies to show how they operate, and why they sometimes seem to be working against adoptive families instead of with them; illustrates how to negotiate and periodically renegotiate the crucial adoption assistance contract, and how to file and prepare for an administrative hearing and an appeal should the decision go against a family; and provides easy-to-understand examples in numerous sidebars that illustrate important points every adoptive family should understand. Families who have or will adopt children with special needs may be able to save tens of thousands of dollars using the information provided here.
Queen Victoria so liked the Isle of Wight she built a royal residence here. Thousands of people got stoned here at music festivals in the late 1960s. And, in the very un-hippyish Covid summer of 2020, Hunter Davies and his girlfriend escaped locked-down North London for a week’s holiday on the Isle of Wight, fell in love with its sleepy charm – and ended up buying a Grade II-listed love nest in the elegant Victorian seaside resort of Ryde. Love in Old Age tells the story of their first twelve months on the island. It brings together the themes of love in old age; Covid lockdown; rural escape; the anxieties of house-buying; and the history and curiosities of England’s largest and second most populous island – all bound together by Hunter Davies’s inquisitiveness about people and places, and his irrepressible and ironic sense of humour.
