The Philological Quarterly's annual bibliographies of modern studies in English neoclassical literature, published originally from 1961 to 1970, are reproduced in two volumes. Readers will find the same features that distinguished earlier compilations in the series: inclusive listing of significant works published in each year (including sections on the historical and cultural background as well as literature), authoritative reviews of important works, critical comments, and a full index that is in itself an indispensable reference tool. Originally published in 1972. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.
The Archiv fur Geschichte des Buchwesens contains academic articles and source editions, and covers all subjects connected with books and their history."
Secular and sacred Dutch medieval literature was particularly rich and influential. It was not only supported and promoted by many important authors (incl. Hadewijch and Heinrich von Veldeke) but also often provided the bridge for Middle High German literature to Old French literature (epics around Charlemagne). This bibliography is the first to provide a comprehensive documentation of the reception of Middle Dutch works in German literature up to the present day. As a chapter in the history of European cultural relations, it affords a completely new view of the dynamics of the transfer of early Dutch literature into the German language area.
Supplementary to material contained in Corns'Bibliotheca Lincolniensis (1904). This bibliography builds on material contained in Corns'Bibliotheca Lincolniensis, published in 1904, since which time the main contributions to the bibliographic coverage of the city have been commercial auction and booksellers' lists, the Lincolnshire section of the regional lists formerly produced by the library association, and the East Midlands Bibliography. The bibliography is based on the collections of Lincoln Central Library.
An oil boycott was the crucial factor in the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was organized by the U.S. against Japan, which feared economic strangulation, and attacked Pearl Harbor as the cul-mination of a period of political, economic, and military compe-tition between Japan and the West. Japan was a new world power and in the 1930s created a "sphere of interest" in East Asia, as the U.S. and the European powers had done before. But the latter opposed aggressive imperialism by a non-Western power with diplomatic and economic means. The irreconcilable differences between Japan and the U.S. in the 1930s and early 1940s are reflected in this selection of diplomatic sources which include draft treaties, diplomatic notes, intercepted messages, and other documents. The result is a case study of the origins of WWII, the events that led to the attack on December 7, 1941, and of diplomacy gone awry.
Volume IV (bound as two volumes) provides a critical and descriptive bibliography of religion in American life that is unequalled in any other source. Arranged topically, so that books and articles on a single subject are discussed in relation to each other, and carefully cross-referenced and indexed, it will be an indispensable tool for anyone exploring further into American religion or related subjects. The Protean personality and career of Ford Madox Ford as poet, novelist, editor, critic, and "miscellaneous writer" have made: him one of the most elusive of modern authors. In this bibliography, which includes extensive excerpts of writings by and about Ford as well as complete descriptions of the various editions of his book and periodical publications, David Dow Harrvey has at last made it possible to form a true estimate of Ford's involvements with other writers and his contributions to modern literature. Bibliography, with introduction, of the literary works of two generations of the Klesch family: writers, preachers, poets and scholars. During the second half of the seventeenth century two generations of the extraordinary Klesch family produced hundreds of literary works; they chronicle the hardships of war and exile, and contributed significantly to the development of a distinctive Protestant literary tradition centred in the Zips area of present-day Slovakia. The Kleschs' works also offer unique insights into German exiles and the role of German language societies in aiding them; the Lutheran community and the Catholic Counter-Reformation in Hungary; sermons and spiritualistic literature; and apocalypticism in the late seventeenth century. This volume provides a bibliography to the writings of the Klesch family; the introduction explains the significance of the family and its works and outlines their lives.
