In der asthetischen Form des Romans werden dagegen Strategien des Buddhismus verwirklicht, die als heilende Gegenmassnahme verstanden werden koennen. Methodisch geht die Arbeit zunachst werkimmanent vor und greift dabei auf die kommunikationstheoretisch fundierte Narratologie zuruck. Abschliessend wird der Roman im Ganzen als "literar-buddhistisch gepragter Antimedienroman" charakterisiert.

Im Rahmen der Debatte um Kompetenzen seit den PISA-Testungen 2000 und den sich anschliessenden Bildungsreformen will diese Arbeit den Entwicklungen im Bereich der schulischen Vermittlung und UEberprufung von Kenntnissen und Fahigkeiten am Beispiel literarischen Lernens nachgehen. Die Auseinandersetzung gilt zunachst der Frage nach einem tragfahigen Bildungsbegriff oeffentlicher Schulen im Spannungsfeld von Bildungstheorie, empirischer Bildungsforschung und bildungspolitischer Steuerung. In einem weiteren Schritt werden Chancen und Grenzen der empirischen wie fachdidaktischen Modellierung literarischer Rezeptionskompetenz beleuchtet. Vor diesem Hintergrund gibt die Untersuchung von Prufaufgaben fur den Mittleren Schulabschluss im Fach Deutsch Auskunft uber die bildungsadministrative Auslegung von Kompetenz im Umgang mit literarischen Texten. Im Anschluss werden Lernaufgaben aus Deutschlehrwerken fur die 10. Klasse auf ihre Konzeptualisierungen literarischer Kompetenz hin analysiert. Dabei lasst sich eine deutliche Ruckwirkung der Einfuhrung von Bildungsstandards und einer neuen Test- und Prufaufgabenkultur auf die Didaktisierung literarischen Lernens nachzeichnen.
