Spark scientific curiosity from a young age with this six-level course through an enquiry-based approach and active learning. Collins International Primary Science fully meets the requirements of the Cambridge Primary Science Curriculum Framework from 2020 and has been carefully developed for a range of international contexts. The course is organised into four main strands: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space and the skills detailed under the 'Thinking and Working Scientifically' strand are introduced and taught in the context of those areas. For each Student's Book at Stages 1 to 6, we offer: A full colour and highly illustrated Student's Book Photo-rich spreads show that science is 'real' and puts it into context Earth and Space content covers the new curriculum framework Thinking and Working Scientifically deepens and enhances the delivery of Science skills Actively learn through practical activities that don't require specialist equipment or labs Scaffolding allows students of varying abilities to work with common content and meet learning objectives Supports Cambridge Global Perspectives (TM) with activities that develop and practise key skills Provides learner support as part of a set of resources for the Cambridge Primary Science curriculum framework (0097) from 2020 This series is endorsed by Cambridge Assessment International Education to support the new curriculum framework 0097 from 2020.
Sounds no human can hear, colours our eyes can't see, scents no one can smell. . . revealed in the amazing world of Invisible Nature! Discover how animals use these hidden senses and mysterious forces to survive and find out how we have learned to tap into their secret powers in our daily lives.
The Oxford Smart Activate Student Book 2 motivates and inspires students to think like a scientist and see themselves as future scientists. A component of the Oxford Smart Curriculum Service, this book is part of a learning experience that holds high aspirations for all students, building on what they've learned at KS2 to ease progression to GCSE and beyond. Tried and tested by (UK) Pioneer schools to ensure that every aspect works for all students, all teachers, and in all secondary science classrooms, Oxford Smart Activate is the next evolution of the best-selling Activate series from series editor and curriculum expert, Andrew Chandler-Grevatt. Core science topics and skills are introduced to students using real-world contexts to create connections between their learning and the world beyond, encouraging students to recognise the impact that they have in this fast-changing world. Informed by up-to-date educational research, this evidence-based student book has been developed to support independent learning, embed metacognitive strategies, and inspire student curiosity in the awe and wonder of science.
Be a dinosaur detective! Look at the fact files about swimming reptiles such as Placodus, Ichthyosaur and Plesiosaurus and find out what each one ate, what they weighed and where they lived.

When young children first arrive at school, they generally know how to use a mobile phone and a tablet, and how to count, share and measure. They have a sense of wonder about the world around them. They expect to further interact with technology and to build and extend their mathematics and science knowledge.Teaching Early Years Mathematics, Science and ICT shows how teachers of children in their first three years of formal schooling can guide students in developing a sound understanding of the key concepts in mathematics and science in classroom and field activities. It shows how to select appropriate educational technology, and effectively and routinely integrate it into the learning experience, as part of students' wider classroom learning.Throughout, the authors make connections between children's out-of-school and in-school experiences, as well as connections across key learning areas. They provide real classroom examples of learning experiences which can be adapted for different year levels. A reflection template assists teachers in planning and successfully implementing teaching strategies to meet curriculum requirements.Teaching Early Years Mathematics, Science and ICT helps teachers bridge theory and practice in teaching children aged 5 to 8 years.

The emerging field of using geospatial technology to teach science and environmental education presents an excellent opportunity to discover the ways in which educators use research-grounded pedagogical commitments in combination with their practical experiences to design and implement effective teacher professional development projects. Often missing from the literature are in-depth, explicit discussions of why and how educators choose to provide certain experiences and resources for the teachers with whom they work, and the resulting outcomes. The first half of this book will enable science and environmental educators to share the nature and structure of large scale professional development projects while discussing the theoretical commitments that undergird their work. Many chapters will include temporal aspects that present the ways in which projects change over time in response to evaluative research and practical experience. In the second half of the book, faculty and others whose focus is on national and international scales will share the ways in which they are working to meet the growing needs of teachers across the globe to incorporate geospatial technology into their science teaching. These efforts reflect the ongoing conversations in science education, geography, and the geospatial industry in ways that embody the opportunities and challenges inherent to this field. This edited book will serve to define the field of teacher professional development for teaching science using geospatial technology. As such, it will identify short term and long term objectives for science, environmental, and geography educators involved in these efforts. As a result, this book will provide a framework for future projects and research in this exciting and growing field.
