For twenty years, Miki "Da Cat" Dora was the king of Malibu
surfers--a dashing, enigmatic rebel who dominated the waves, ruled
his peers' imaginations, and who still inspires the fantasies of
wannabes to this day. And yet, Dora railed against surfing's sudden
post-Gidget popularity and the overcrowding of his once empty
waves, even after this avid sportsman, iconoclast, and scammer of
wide repute ran afoul of the law and led the FBI on a remarkable
seven-year chase around the globe in 1974. The New York Times named
him "the most renegade spirit the sport has yet to produce" and
Vanity Fair called him "a dark prince of the beach." To fully
capture Dora's never-before-told story, David Rensin spent four
years interviewing hundreds of Dora's friends, enemies, family
members, lovers, and fellow surfers to uncover the untold truth
about surfing's most outrageous practitioner, charismatic antihero,
committed loner, and enduring mystery.
A Capful of wind, AKA "Useless Information for Aspiring Skippers"
charts the author's progress from her first dubious adventures in a
leaky tub to trying for her Yachtmaster Certificate. Despite
everything that the elements and even fellow seafarers throw at
her, Monica Matterson wittily recalls a wealth of fascinating and
usually hilarious tales of misadventure on, in, and sometimes under
the sea - including pubs that vanish by dawn, how stolen planks
from a building site save the day in a storm, and much 'mud
shuffling'. The book includes over 60 original paintings and
drawings by the author that bring the cleverly observed humour
throughout this autobiography to life.

Fully updated and revised. Award winning Deco for Divers provides a
comprehensive overview of the principles underlying decompression
theory. Mark Powell has written a book that for the first time
allows the average diver to fully understand the principles behind
this fascinating aspect of diving. This book bridges the gap
between introductory books and source scientific information. What
I wanted was an intermediate overview that went into more detail
but wasn't written for academics or researchers. When I became a
technical diving instructor I started teaching other people about
decompression theory. I tried to give an overview of decompression
theory at this intermediate level to give my students a better
understanding of what was happening during decompression dives.
This was always very popular amongst divers who, like me, had
always wanted to understand more about the concepts and models
underlying decompression theory. I was always being asked if I
could recommend a good book which covered this area but as before,
there was no such text available. Over time I started giving out
notes for the decompression theory portion of my courses and these
notes started building. Initially they were just a few pages but
the notes became more and more comprehensive and started to cover
more and more areas. Eventually they grew into this book. Eurotek

In 1869 the late Richard Henry Dana, Jr., prepared a new edition of
his "Two Years Before the Mast''. In presenting the first 'author's
edition' to the public, he has been encouraged to add an account of
a visit to the old scenes, made twenty-four years after, together
with notices of the subsequent story and fate of the vessels, and
of some of the persons with whom the reader is made acquainted. The
popularity of this book has been so great and continued that it is
now proposed to make an illustrated edition with new material.
Though geographically close the two areas covered in this sea
kayaking guidebook are as different in character as it is possible
to conceive. The South East of England has a varied landscape of
chalk cliffs, pebble beaches, vast expanses of sand, mudflats, and
river estuaries. At one extreme the tidal Thames runs through the
densely populated City of London and at the other the deserted
North Norfolk coast. Conversely the Channel Islands are a small
number of large islands and a vast number of islets and reefs. Here
we are talking pink granite, white sandy beaches and very strong
tidal streams. They are closer to France than to England (a mere
12km between Les Ecrehous reef and mainland France). Many of the
routes here are very committing but there are also a good number of
gentler paddles.
This sailor's logbook has received a makeover. Redesigned to appeal
to the 21st century sailor, it is fun to use, designed to last a
full season and the perfect gift for anyone passionate about
sailing. The new design allows space for electronic navigation
information and for narrative and it doubles as a visitors' book.
This book contains a complete copy of the Inland and International
Navigation Rules as presented by the United States Coast Guard.
